Jiffy Lube Scam Caught on Tape!

  1. Most of these places are like this. I always change my own oil.

  2. This is funny.

My wife just took her SUV to a local stealership for a brake job.

Their so called "tech" told the service manager the car needed over $3,000 worth of repairs!!!!

Besides new rotors and pads which I knew needed replacing , he said one of the rear caliper bolts was "frozen" and would require additional effort to remove.

Of course the "extra effort" meant more $$$ to them.

I purchased the rotors and pads online for less than $300.00

As i was replacing the so called "frozen" caliper, it wasn't frozen at all. All the bolts slid out quite easily. And I could tell by the grime on all the bolts that not one of them was manipulated in any way. How could he tell they were frozen when absolutely nothing touched them?? He must be clairvoyant.

There were a few other items on their service list that were also completely bogus. They said the power steering hose was leaking. That car is parked in the same spot for over ten years, no leaks whatsoever.

    Caveat Emptor.

  3. Jiffy lube did similar things to me. Said my tag lights were out. I watched the guy thru the window. It would of helped if the ignition was on. And then they didn't top of my fluids that I paid for. Not to mention the weed smell burning out back. I'll never go back.

  4. I never go to these slimy places. Every time I used to go there I just knew they were going to come out and tell me I needed something.

The last time I went to the Oil Spot they didn't put my oil cap back on and oil blew everywhere. My car hasn't been the same since.

  7. Speaking of cars, went to Pohanka Nissan a few days ago to get my car service. Strolled around the lot and looked at the new vehicles. Chucked at the $79.99 dealer charge for the "Nitrogen Kit." The biggest scam ever!!!!

  10. Jiffy Lube tore my car up. The idiot manager put a hole through the radiator and never admitted it to me. It costs my a great deal of money to have an honest repair shop repair. I have never gone back and tell anyone who asks don't go to Jiffy Lube even if it is free!

  11. The one & only time I went to Salisbury store was enough for me. Then go to Courtesy for a warranty repair so they can give you a list of other things that should be done, including light bulbs. When I bought bulbs elsewhere, my husband discovered they had been unplugged! When I returned the bulbs, the clerk said it wasn't the first time they'd heard that. It seems to be everywhere anymore, if they think they can get away with it.

    1. Courtesy is full of crooks and pervs. The manager there was hitting on me and he was dating a girl who worked there along with his daughter. He also hits on the customers. I felt so sick thinking about going back I had to quit. I hear he is about to get a big promotion for all the dealerships. If you work for a GM dealer, girls watch out. His hunting grounds are growing.

  12. The cheap come on offer for an oil change is just to get you in to commit the rip off scam. Same with brake jobs. They can't rip you off unless they can get you to come to them. Its not just jiffy lube. Its all those places that offer specials for routine maintenance service, dealerships included. You will never go in and come out for the price of the advertised special. They would not stay in business if you did. It is what it is. They are all the same. You have two choices. Do the maintenance yourself. Or only authorize the advertized maintenance on the vehicle before they work on it, and decline any "additional" recommended repairs or service. If you don't agree to pay for it, they will not do it.

  13. Watch out for a service advisor at courtesy named Steven. Crook has a tat on his neck. He rips old ladies and whoever he can. Ray Nordstrom should give him the boot.

  16. Not just Jiffy Lube If you want a good screw job let Sherwood service your car. The only way they can do the free oil changes on the cars they sell is to sell the customer other services at inflated rates at the time of the oil change. I witnessed that first hand and will never buy another car from them because of the tactics they are ripping customers off with. The mechanics working for them are forced to suggest other service to the customer and if they don't do it they find themselves unemployed.
