Cop helps elderly man who drove to his house by mistake

WASHINGTON — A Prince George’s County police officer has explained why an elderly man he doesn’t know ended up at his house in Charles County, looking for help.

Sgt. Xavian Watson says he got home — in Charles County — last Thursday to find a pickup truck in his yard, and a man standing nearby.

When Watson asked what went on, the man said, “I was trying to get to Maryland.”

“I was like, ‘sir, you are in Maryland’,” Watson tells WTOP.

  2. I believe most people are pro law enforcement because this article is the perfect example of what LE does each and every day in this country. We rarely hear about all the good they do which is 99.9 percent of the time. Oh but when one steps out of line you'd think it was the end of the world with some people. And we all know who "some people" are-those who are criminals and thugs and those who are excuse makers for the criminals and the thugs, in other words the dregs of society.

  3. He did what any other person would do. So what if he is a cop. At least he didn't puff up and kill the guy and claim he saw a weapon.

  5. 6:16 pm, you need to stop. I love it that he invited the gentleman into him home and made him comfortable while calling his family for him. As I see it he did a wonderful thing, not everyone would have been so kind to the old gentleman like you seem to think.

  6. 4:17 if I'm not mistaken, isn't that what you do about people who the media says is a bad guy or had a record? Don't you say "good, less one sucking off the system" when it happens to someone with a criminal record...
