Any idea why they are constructing a water treatment plant at the airport?

WICOMICO COUNTY MARYLAND – 5485 Terminal Road, Salisbury, MD 21804. (14-16-1144) Water permit to construct a water treatment plant at Salisbury-Ocean City Wicomico County Regional Airport

  3. There is no mention of the size of the treatment plant in that short statement. If the airport has maybe 300 passengers passing through daily, plus employees at the terminal, plus employees at the US Airways facility it is obvious that somebody is going to have to poop on occasion.

  10. The airline is growing, expected to have jets by beginning of 2016. To do this they probably need separate treatment facility!

  11. they dump water from the City of Salisbury around the corner from the airport now Maybe they are dumping more water than the system can hold

  12. Let's hope they don't hire John Jacobs to build it. We ALL know what a cracker jack job he did for the city of Salisbury. What an IDIOT.

  13. 1118...its not for them. Its for us

  14. Population. Once you reach a certain size you are required to treat water. I am sure they are trying to expand as well.

  17. The Salisbury Wicomico OC Airport doesn't use enough water to justify a water treatment plant.

Seriously, we have many, 100s of residential homes that have lawn irrigation and consume a heck of a lot more water than the Salisbury Airport - and they don't need a water treatment plant.

And just like out at Wor Wic College - they did not need a water tower either. There was more than enough ground water in the surrounding aquifers so as not to need a water tower.

They blow more money taxpayers money around here like there is no tomorrow. I hope the hell Donald Trump does win the Presidency. Maybe then, some sanity will be restored to an insane system.

I've seen that truck and wondered myself. Is that sewage being dumped into sewer or storm drains??? The truck is a regular drop;where is the source of the product, and why?

Can anyone from the Public Works please comment a clue?

  19. The sewage from the Wico county airport is pumped under high pressure through a 24-inch pipe that goes to Mt. Hermon rd and then Westward under Mt Hermon Rd to the K=mart area where it joins other pipes ant goes to the sewage plant....

  20. the property across from the airport was sold to the county for $1 with a lease back for 99 years for next to nothing. so now it is county property but the owner retains the development rights for 99 years. 8:51 is right but nothing can be developed there until there is a way to add water and sewer to the property. This deal was stuck many years ago and they are still working on getting their money out of it! By making you and me pay to develop their property and when it's made usable / valuable someone will make a lot of money off it! and it won't be the taxpayer! someone (BOB and no not that idiot bryant) needs to look into these county commissions and the sweetheart deals they cut for their friends!

  21. Piedmont has been hiring left and right. They are increasing their fleet. This means more planes flying in and out. Wouldn't this in turn mean more people? More people and planes would naturally mean higher water consumption....duh!

  22. 11:52 piedmont hiring? yeah right they hire illegals to work on the planes and a couple mechs to come behind them and sign for their work. ain't no great paying jobs to be had out there. they were supposed to hire a mess fo mechs when they got the state loan to build the engine test cell. That never happened either.
The whole airport situation is a joke.

  23. How about the portable stairway that the County purchased (app. $40,000) to subsidize Allegiant airlines. What does Allegiant do - exists Salisbury - and then the taxpayers get stuck with a rusting/corroding surplus stairway.

This is the kind of stuff that Editorials ought to be written about - but yet they are seldom reported.
