OCEAN CITY, MD – (July 10, 2015): On July 9, 2015, at approximately 7:37 p.m. Ocean City police responded to the area of Oyster Lane and South Ocean Drive for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a person riding a skateboard. The victim, a 14-year-old male of Timonium, MD, was treated on the scene by Ocean City EMS and transported via Maryland State Police Trooper 4 to Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, MD where he is currently listed in critical but stable condition.
After an initial investigation, Ocean City Traffic Safety Unit investigators determined that the male had been riding a skateboard while holding on to the rear of the vehicle which was traveling west on South Ocean Drive. The male suddenly lost his footing and fell off the skateboard resulting in serious injuries.
Alcohol was not a factor. At the time of the incident, the victim was not wearing a helmet or any protective safety gear.
I can't stand skateboarders but I do hope he comes out of this without any permanent disabilities.
ReplyDeleteLike I said I can't stand skateboarders but if any are reading please please be careful and wear helmets.

ReplyDeletethank God for Trooper 4. MSP Aviation saving lives every day getting people to critical care within the "golden hour".
ReplyDeleteHello....where were the bike patrol cops...
ReplyDeleteSkateboarding is banned except at the skateboard park....
Hello....bike patrol cops cannot be in all places at all times.
DeleteI have seen visitors towing an infant in a cart behind their bikes in the Bus Lane of OC. Dumb comes in all ages.
ReplyDelete14 years old, cut the kid some slack. Guess you never did anything dumb at 14 there @3:26?
ReplyDeleteYup! Let's build a skate park! Crazy and stupid stunts will ensue.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to read about the accident. I'm also sorry OC changed the skateboard regs and allow skaters on the street and boardwalk at certain times. The skaterboard skaters should only be permitted at skateboard parks for their own safety.
ReplyDeleteRarely are boarders injured by cars while at the skateboard park.
ReplyDeleteReally? Alot of injuries occur at these parks. It's where people learn to skate and the ones that can show off . the riding of cars is common around parks as well.
Delete504..yeah..lets tell everyone what to do with their own self and life.
ReplyDelete5:03--
ReplyDeleteConsidering the incident didn't occur at a skate park, your statement has no basis or merit. When there is a skate park, the people will have a proper place to recreate. I've seen more bicyclists hanging on to a moving car than skateboarders, FYI.
All the person said was skate parks attract trouble. I lived in California. I know what they bring.

Wow! It's obvious that skateboarders are of the low class but this proves it. Can't wait to hear how many skateboarders went on to be lawyers and doctors.
Sooooo it's ok in your eyes for 3:19 to say they can't stand skaters, but when a possible skater comments back with basically the same thing that's not ok and they are automatically a lowlife? What percentage of the population grows up to be doctors or lawyers? How many doctors or lawyers are in you're family? Are you a doctor or lawyer? No? Guess you're a lowlife.
Delete634...how does that statement prove anything. I think the low class citizen you speak of is the one who catagorizes all people that participate in skating as some trash. And for the record plenty on people who skate as kids grow up to lead normal safe boring lives that must be the upper class you belong to.
ReplyDelete6:34 is just an old bitter person. I'm 42, been skating since I was 10 and will continue to do so until my knees don't allow it anymore. I also have a successful dental practice in OC and I'm sure a lot of you know me. But hey, I'm a lowlife.
