Wicomico High Student Arrested for Twitter Threats

SALISBURY, Md.- Authorities say a 16-year-old male Wicomico High School student is facing charges for making threats on Twitter.

The teen was taken into custody Monday by the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office and charged with four offenses, including threat of mass violence. He was turned over to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, which will make a determination as to whether he will be charged as an adult. If charged as an adult, he could face up to 10 years in prison.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the teen, who used the Twitter handle @TysonTheXV, tweeted the following, "@wboc we are here, and will cut off every christian head in salisbury and will start at wicomico high, and wont stop."

  20. Well apparently he wanted to go to jail if his dumb ass sent it to wboc. Who was he trying to impress? I can't believe my cousin almost dated him. We need more security in our schools. I guess he just wanted to go global and he got his wish. But if you look further in the tweets it says "Recruit me" meaning he really wanted to be part of Isis. I hope he is charged as an adult.

  22. The parent(s) have some explaining to do, and serious questions answered.

What kind of ideology is he being exposed to at home? Does he have siblings with this same poisoned mindset? Where did he get this from, who is he talking to, and who encourages him in this psychopathic delusion? How long has this been going on? Has he experienced serious abuse or trauma? What other antisocial and hateful behaviors has he shown in the past?

Does he have a juvenile record, has he been referred for mental health treatment? Has he been evaluated as emotionally disturbed before?

Why, as parents, haven't you been paying attention to him, and his online activities? Does he have posters and materials on the walls and desk in his room that imply an interest in violence, especially through a known hate group?

This kind of deep hatred and attachment to a foreign ideology points to a huge disconnect between him, his parents, his peers...and reality. I hope he gets help, in a safe, healthy environment, where he cannot harm himself or others...before he escalates this obsession into a irreversible, irredeemable tragedy.
