BALTIMORE —Maryland's governor spoke for the first time on the police custody death of Freddie Gray.
Gov. Larry Hogan is very interested in the case and is prepared to launch state resources if needed.
The city police in-custody death of Gray will be thoroughly examined by a multitude of agencies, including the Baltimore City Police Department, the city state's attorney's office and the U.S. Department of Justice.
"It's a tragic situation. My heart goes out to the family and everyone involved in the entire incident, and like everyone else, we are hoping to get to the bottom of it and find out the facts," Hogan said.

I think Gray's death was self inflicted. He either had a pre existing neck injury that he exacerbated when he was "thrashing around" (as per another prisoner in the van) or he banged himself so hard he broke his own neck.
ReplyDeleteOr could have been something like a seizure disorder and in the course of having a seizure he struck his chin, breaking his neck.
It's odd that the Baltimore City mayor has requested a meeting w/the Gray family but they declined on the advice of their attorney, Billy Murphy. What is it he doesn't want let out of the bag just yet-maybe a pre existing condition.
It's also odd that Murphy isn't one bit focused on how the injury was sustained. His sole focus is on why they officers chased Gray to begin with.
He is also planning on having an independent autopsy done. That is understandable.
Yup. Broke his own neck on purpose! Smh.
DeleteI think it's getting obvious that he did do this to himself. Everyone's seen the tape where he is standing on his own with no help in the back of the van, he turns his head and says something, then bends down and enters the van all without any assistance.
ReplyDeleteThe other prisoner said he was throwing himself up against the metal cage and that the driver was NOT driving erratically. It could be possible he was completely strung out of some drug or that he had anger issues.
Both the family lawyer and the mayor aren't so concerned with HOW he got injured but more why he was chased and why medical help wasn't called sooner. I think they probably know his own actions caused his injuries already.
11:12, that's a load of crap. You must be extremely blind if you think he walked to the van and or got into the van on his own.
ReplyDeleteThat man was crippled from the time they picked him up and dragged him to the van. They then loaded him into the van and can you just imagine the pain he must have been in while they were doing so!
I've watched that video several times and that man was injured BEFORE they ever picked him up off the ground.
Thank you Joe! Put these cop lovers in check. Its amazing how they say one thing when the obvious is on tape and the sheeple of the shore baaaaaow to the cops. When are you going to realize that coos are salesmen and they sell bull crap! I know the area is small and most people are firefighters ems or cops. And if not related to one. But sooner or later your gonna have to wake up and see the truth. People say all these negative cop videos and positive ones aren't put up. That's because there are more bad cop videos then good ones! And trust if cops were doing good things there would be videos up by the cops lives matter crowd. The people are fed up.
DeleteFrom today's Examiner-better let the mayor know she's blind too.
ReplyDelete"At present, police investigators say they still do not understand precisely how, nor do they know exactly when, Gray was injured. Baltimore mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has openly indicated that the injuries to Gray probably occurred after he was placed in the police van for transport to the police station."
It's also being reported that family attorney Billy Murphy is making a case against the autopsy report by saying "they" as in the BCPD worked closely with the medical examiners office (as in so they get the results they want?)
There's also a 2nd video that's been released. Watch that one too.
LOL-I just randomly googled cops make arrest and then randomly chose some videos to watch. If you didn't know any better you would have thought more than 1/2 were injured because they too dragging their feet the way Freddie was.
ReplyDeleteAnd you think its funny? Screw google. Hit up you tube. Watch all the police brutality or police violate rights videos. Narrow it by state. Maryland is interesting. Salisbury is even on there several times.
DeleteThey don't bother video it let alone post it, when a cop is helping them, or the countless times an encounter goes peacefully, that is why it seems like it's more prevalent.
DeleteThey all act like that when they are arrested in Baltimore. I've even saw something like it in Sby once. It was a woman. She was also screaming while being dragged that she needed an ambulance because she was pregnant, so she said.
ReplyDeleteFrom CNN-
ReplyDeleteBaltimore City Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said the medical examiner would make the final determination, but "we know he was fine getting into the van."

meaning he was ALIVE. how was he when he came out of that van?
Thank you Joe! For a while, with
ReplyDeleteall the talk about him injuring himself in the van ---I was wondering IF I was the only one
who saw that boy Could Not Walk!! The police were dragging him & you heard his screaming!!
I have no idea what the guy did or why they were chasing him But--
for sure you can Plainly see that
boy was severeley injured!!
I might add---I am White. I get
so tired of people judging us that
we are so against Blacks. When someone is wrong---they're wrong no matter the color!
Wouldn't be like a criminal to be uncooperative when trying to transport possibly could it? That has never ever happened before~~~~~ rolls eyes.
ReplyDeleteSo carry him around in a head lock? More than enough police to pick him up correctly. But like you said. Cops here aren't to caring about who or what they screw up or hurt. Rolling my eyes back at ya.
DeleteNope 12:17 She has indicated that the injuries to him happened while he was inside the van. Read the article in today's Examiner.
ReplyDeleteAlso why would the other prisoner say he was throwing himself up against the metal cage?
Dealing. Let me go and I'll say this man. Dopers will say anything to get freed.
Deletewhere is the video from him leaving the van into the station house ?
ReplyDeleteIf you read the statement made by the Gray family attorney on Sunday, he says the whole take down and arrest occurred under a police camera which taped "EVERYTHING". He never once mentioned any kind of "excessive force" being used and does go on to say- " While in police custody, his spine was 80 percent severed at his neck." He does not say that it happened while being arrested which he would have it any evidence of police brutality existed, but that it happened while in custody.
ReplyDeleteThe cops seem to keep getting out of Control more often now...
ReplyDeleteIf the Police are guilty...they should be fired, jailed, and sued,
but not the TAX PAYERS footing the bill...
Oh please-you people must live under rocks and really do need to get out and see how it works in the real world.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way anyone can say for certain that he was injured much less severely just by viewing the tape.
As said above and I've seen it myself people resist arrest all the time and go limp like this guy did.
And we've all seen cops beat and punch people for no reason.
DeleteHis family including his sister who were interviewed by The Guardian are saying whatever happened to him, happened inside the van.
ReplyDelete" A timeline of the arrest released by the police last week shows a half-hour gap between police departing a spot near the scene of the arrest with Gray in a prisoner van at 8.54am on 12 April, and paramedics being called to the western district police headquarters just three blocks away at 9.24am. Gray’s family alleges he must have been badly beaten during this time.
“If someone has surrendered and you’ve put the handcuffs on him, what is the point of you beating them?,” said his sister, Carolina"
"Relatives of Freddie Gray told the Guardian on Sunday they want the US Department of Justice and FBI to take control of the investigation into how Gray’s neck was broken, apparently after he was detained by officers and loaded into a Baltimore police van."
ReplyDeleteAPPARENTLY AFTER HE WAS DETAINED BY OFFICERS AND LOADED INTO A BALTIMORE POLICE VAN!
All you medical experts need to tell the family how "severeley injured" he was while he was being lead to the van because they obviously don't think he was injured at that point in time.
good luck... you have a better chance of a lightning strike hitting the ground and making gold appear before any cop is held accountable...
ReplyDeleteI'm not exactly sure what is going on in Baltimore City right now or what is expected to maybe happen but they are sending city workers home early on liberal leave I just heard.
ReplyDeleteRight. I saw a few interviews either friends or family, I'm not sure, and they all pretty much said he was not injured, but was dragging his legs because he was being uncooperative or something like that. They excused it by saying, it's because when you are black you have been yourself or know of someone who was a victim of police brutality while in police custody, so that's why they resist.
ReplyDeleteLots of these kind of comments on the Baltimore area social media sites saying the same thing about why he resisted being taken over to the van.

ReplyDeleteThere is a rally today at City Hall at 3pm. There is also another one at 5pm at another location. They are probably just trying to get them out of the city before the rally starts.
They've been "protesting" all day out in front of the western district. Their "protesting" including throwing things and blocking traffic. Governor Larry Hogan has sent in the MSP and city workers are being urged to leave work by 3:00.
ReplyDeleteThey should be as passionate about finding jobs as they are about rallying.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth!
DeleteReading these comments, it is no wonder they is no industry here. Your lack of intelligence and hateful attitudes is only worthy of chicken farming, and who knows how long that will be here.
ReplyDeleteExaminer? Isn't that a tabloid? Regardless, I don't need someone to tell me what to think when I can see with my own eyes.
At the very least the cops are negligent. But who cares? It won't cost the kops a dime and they keep getting paid while not working.
Stop paying out millions of dollars in settlements and maybe the state would have money and not lay off people. Or at least lay some of these kops off.
No-Both The Examiner and The Guardian are not tabloids. I don't know why you would even think the family would have agreed to an interview from a tabloid anyway.

I never mentioned the guardian or the family, or an interview. Can you just stick to the facts please.
Larry Hogan I would suggest you stay out of this mess before you lose good conservative supporters.
ReplyDelete12:34 You are thinking of the Enquirer not the Examiner.
ReplyDeleteFYI-The Examiner is not a tabloid.
You asked if the Examiner wasn't a tabloid.
Poster answered your question and proceeded to expounded on your inquiry something you should be grateful for, as by judging from you previous comments, knowledge isn't exactly one of your stronger points.
