ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland officials say traffic deaths have hit a 66-year low in the state.
Transportation officials said at a news conference Tuesday that traffic deaths in Maryland fell to 442 last year. That’s the lowest amount of traffic deaths in the state since 1948.
The year with the most traffic deaths was 1968, with 872 fatalities.

ReplyDelete“That means that the traffic safety efforts that we’re talking about today have literally allowed thousands of Marylanders and others who use our roads here to be alive,” said Lon Anderson, AAA Mid-Atlantic.
ReplyDeleteMore BS double speak. Remember when lower speed limits were supposed to reduce highway deaths. Now speed limits in some places are the highest they have ever been but the number of deaths are the lowest. The real reason deaths are down is because of hardened occupant enclosures with air bags on most newer cars. This is why a car that cost $10,000 15 years ago is now $17,000.
Still WAY TOO MANY.
