Following a similar measure approved last month in Virginia, State Sen. Jim Mathias (D38) is sponsoring a Senate joint resolution that encourages NASA to take steps to allow the launch and landing of commercial vehicles and spacecraft at Wallops Island.
“The resolution would urge NASA to perform an environmental impact study to have booster rockets launched and landed,” Mathias said, “which puts us on a footing for contractual work. Right now it’s all unmanned.”
The move by both states is in response to a similar study nearing completion for the launch facility in Cape Canaveral, Fla., according to the resolution’s text. It also states this study is a necessary step in getting FAA approval for launch or landing permits.

That's right Jim,change the subject and think we're too stupid to know it.
ReplyDeleteStick to your own state
ReplyDeleteWhy is Liberal Jim worrying about something in Virginia? Is he stumping to replace Babs as the NASA supporter? The Wallops folks are NOT interested in hiring anyone from MD in the first place - they're trying to support folks from their own state first - an example this country should be following on that level!
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Senator Voice Choice/Choice Voice who thinks it's so important for and believes so strongly in "information to be disseminated" must have had "full engagement from the public" on this one, since he went as far as sponsoring this bill.
ReplyDeleteBetter fix Virginia's launch pad first bucco.
ReplyDeleteI see your special interest takes you to V.A. oh by the way you suck.
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading the book about NASA's abandoned launch sites. What about all of them? Where was everyone when they closed up and layed off thousands of employees (total)?
ReplyDeleteFirst of all wallops will never be considered for any real space travel nasa has that locked up and there isnt going to be any changes in that department as they are already preparing for the new shuttle. Second isnt wallops in virginia....guess mathias doesnt know what state he lives in....
ReplyDeletewhat business is it of Maryland what goes on in Virginia! That is time better spent on issues relating to Maryland not wasting time on some duplicate resolution from a state where the facility is not located! Jim you are a waste of our tax dolloars in ways that don't even concern you and of little to no concern to YOUR constituints!
ReplyDeleteWhat company is mathias trying to open in VA????
ReplyDeleteWas ROYAL PLUS the company mathias owns in VA hmmmmmmmmm.
Wallops has become a major expense in a time where budget issues reign.Everything that has occurred subsequent to the rocket explosion has reflected a downward spiral.NASA now considers that site an unnecessary expense that may soon come to an end.No longer cost effective by any means.
ReplyDeleteI guess Royal Plus wants the "Kleenup" contract on the launch pad explosion.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder he doesn't hear his Constituents opinions on school boards and such pittances! He's too busy shopping up business for himself. Screw the lowly voters! He's already got that paycheck going in the bank!
Liberal Jim strikes again...some staffer trying to change the subject on a resolution that has been sitting around for months...that means absolutely nothing...
ReplyDeleteDamn Jim, you would not even give the folks a chance to decide for themselves. Who do you think you are?
McDermott put that choice bill in his first and second years in office and you did not help it one bit in the senate either year...at least your consistent...at being against the very people you are elected to serve!
