A political firestorm erupted late Monday after an open letter from Republican senators to Iran's leaders challenged President Obama's ability to strike a permanent nuclear deal with Tehran.
Vice President Joe Biden strongly denounced the letter in a statement saying the missive "offends me as a matter of principle" and was "beneath the dignity of an institution I revere."
"In thirty-six years in the United States Senate, I cannot recall another instance in which senators wrote directly to advise another country — much less a longtime foreign adversary — that the president does not have the constitutional authority to reach a meaningful understanding with them," Biden said in his statement.
The letter signed by Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., and 46 of his colleagues warned Tehran that any nuclear deal needs congressional approval in order to last beyond Obama's term and pointed out that without that step, all Iran would be left with is a "mere executive agreement" between Obama and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The letter added, "We hope this letter enriches your knowledge of our constitutional system and promotes mutual understanding and clarity as nuclear negotiations progress."

Treason, pure and simple.
ReplyDeleteYou're full of $hit. Get your facts from somewhere besides the MSM. Democrats have done similar things at least 7 times in the last 50 years ( Nancy Pelosi being one of the most recent). Besides what was in the letter is true, only CONGRESS can approve treaty's.
Delete12:17 Absolutely
ReplyDelete12:17 (and your lemming followers) - Yes, what the POSOTUS has been doing is treasonous....what this letter does is protect the reputation of our country by informing Khameini that when the proper processes are NOT followed, the agreements are NOT valid.....otherwise, Khameini and the rest of the arab nations would be led to believe we are not honest in keeping our treaties.
ReplyDeleteA treaty isn't a treaty if it isn't properly approved!
Who cares what drunken uncle Joe has to say. If he really cared about "dignity of the institution" he would resign.
ReplyDelete12:17 & 12:34 FYI There is nothing wrong with this letter. It's just letting other country leader know rhat any deal has to be approved by Congress, and I applaud those who signed it, True Patriots. It also let others know that Barry Obama and his Master Puppeteer Chief of Staff Valerie Jarrett (Muslm Iranian Woman from Chicago), have No Authority to make Any Nuclear Deals without Congress Approval
ReplyDeleteThey wrote the truth, he is not a true American, he wasn't born in the USA, he is not legally in the office.
ReplyDeleteImpeach the bum..democrats are ready...
ReplyDeleteExactly 12:17 and 12:34 Obama trying to circumvent congress is treasonous.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the Republicans letter was to oppose the Iranian Government and religious crackpots, not to PRAISE them like Obama.
WHATS more is, in the past, Democrat reps and senators have written letters of support to COMMUNIST regimes around the world! Most notably the Communist Sandinista Dictator Daniel Ortega.
Where were you pinko's then?
These democrat Marxist extremist traitors should face the death penalty for treason and spying.
Wino Joe has not been paying attention to what his boss has been doing if that letter got him upset.

ReplyDeleteJoe, the law school plagiarist, rarely lets facts get in the way of what he spouts. Same process this time.
OweBama, Kerry, & crew are desperate for a deal, any deal, with Iran regardless of short or long term negative effects to the US or Israel or other countries in the region. His foreign policy 'expert' stated this in public last week saying 'a bad deal is better than no deal'.
The Senators were exactly correct: Anything OweBama signs that doesn't have Congressional approval can be pitched out by a later president. Treaties require Senate approval, and that is in the Constitution. A 'bad deal' treaty may never even be scheduled for debate or a vote in the Senate; it is the prerogative of the Senate to schedule its business.
Our Founders created a system of checks and balances; autocrats, dictators, emperors, tyrants, kings and bad golfers find that inconvenient and try to undercut and circumvent the Constitution in pursuit of their personal agenda.
Thank you, Senators, for standing up and pushing back!
