It would seem the County Council will shoot down the proposal on Bennett Middle School. Culver is simply asking for 60 days and the Council is refusing to SAVE MONEY.
Culver simply stated to each Council Member, you don't need to answer to me. You need to answer to refusing to save the County money to all the people who voted for you.
John Hall flat out stated that the economy has NOT changed in the past 10 years. Look, I'm going to be very nice here and keep my mouth shut.
All in all, Bob tried to save the County money and I'm talking MILLIONS of dollars. Can you say RINO's?
Wayne Strausburg turned to John Hall and said, to say the economy hasn't changed in such a deep recession is quite a stretch!
Wayne went on to say the ball fields would be built. NOTHING would be held back time wise. They simply want to research IF a portion and or portions of the current structure can be saved and repurposed while saving the taxpayers money.
It's a shame the Council shot down saving taxpayers millions of dollars.
These people on Council are digging themselves a hole, better take the shovel away from them in the next election
ReplyDeleteIs there a provision in the county charter for a recall election?!
ReplyDeleteIf not, we need one...we've been had!
Kilner you're done fool.
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly Strausburg did a good job of trying to sell Bob's idea. Was shocked by Kilmer. As for Hall, he should go home and hide. What an idiot!
ReplyDeleteThank you Bob for trying to look out for the taxpayer. Shame on the Council to not give him 60 days to study. For goodness sake, he has only been in office over 3 months. He has done great work so far and deserved this consideration.
Disgraceful that they didn't give Culver 60 days. What would that have hurt? It would have resolved the issue once and for all. Now there will always be lingering doubts in some minds. Not a smart move.
ReplyDeleteKILMER AND HALL ARE FN FOOLS.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU BOB CULVER. You are trying to stand up for us. Shame on the other Republicans for not supporting you.
ReplyDeleteNo new schools.
ReplyDeleteI respectfully disagree. The plan was approved and funds were allocated. Move forward with the plan. Thank you Council.
ReplyDeleteHe tried to save money OR he was negligent in the decision process leading to a uneeded delay that cold end up costing more and risking funds that were already deisgnated by the state for a project. Either way. Giant mistep
ReplyDeleteTypical. If they want it so bad, cut the funding from the BOE. Their food/drink tab should more than cover it.
ReplyDeleteuh, so who thinks that Gillis Gilkerson will get the bid, on the old land
ReplyDeleteIs this a done deal??
ReplyDeleteSo did the council approve going ahead with the plan as initially stated, or are they considering a delay?
ReplyDeleteDone deal. Move on.
ReplyDeleteI agree, we walk forward not backwards. Quit looking back and lets move on. This has already been done. Sixty days is not the answer.
ReplyDeleteshame on the rino's. truly they are useless. this is not what we voted for we the people need to continue to speak with a loud, united voice. Mr. Culver and the conservatives on the council are trying to do the job right, but we must overcome the liberals. remember this is OUR money, not theirs.
ReplyDeleteI just cannot understand why the "republicans" on the council, other than Joe Holloway, and possibly Kilmer, don't change their affiliation to democrat. It looks as if they are going to do anything and everything to NOT go along with Culver's proposals. And as for the suggestion that the economy hasn't changes in ten years - where has he been?!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove this party line stuff. Republicans dont ever spend, Democrats spend everything. Maybe, just maybe, in this case, it was the right thing to do. Maybe, just maybe, party lines did not interfere with progress. We can only hope
ReplyDeleteAgreed 11;07.This 10 year project has already been bonded and paid for. It will not cost the tax payer anything. The BOE has stated to the council and the executive that they will have other buildings in surplus when the redistricting is complete. The time is now for Culver to begin planning to save the taxpayers of Wicomico the millions he says he can save by repurposing those buildings.
ReplyDeleteWhose team is Strusburg on, Creamers?
ReplyDelete.BOB cant u see u where set up by Strasburg FIRE him now.
ReplyDeleteIf you were in business and you were following a plan developed 10 years ago and your circumstances changed, would you stick with that plan no matter what? I don't think Cannon, Hall or Matt Holloway would do that in their business careers. So why is it okay to do with taxpayer money?
ReplyDeleteJoe Holloway is the only councilmember serving with any common sense. Shame on you Marc Kilmer and Larry Dodd,I expected this out of Cannon, Davis, Hall and Matt Holloway
ReplyDelete3:02 PM you have no clue what you were talking about. Were you involved in the meetings or discussions about Bennett Middle School with Bob Culver and the County Council? No you weren't because there were none? Until you know what you're talking about I suggest you stay out of this conversation because it really does make you and Bob look bad.
DeleteSome of the people on this council led us down a path just so they could get votes then, BAM, forgot you, they are not going to listen to anyone any more, all they want to do is spend, spend, spend. They have their personal agendas and no one is going to get in their way. It's not their money why the heck would they try to save taxpayers any money. Bob Culver thank you for trying to lead even though this bunch of fools will not let you. And 1:01 PM, 60 days could have made a difference and it certainly would have resolved issues we all want to know. Are you afraid it might have shown something positive and not cost the taxpayers so much? I bet so.
ReplyDeletei can't wait to vote again!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIs John Hall a businessman or on the taxpayer dole, sounds like the latter with the 10 year comment.
ReplyDeleteYou guys and gals whining about these RINOS,(your word). If you don't like it run for office yourself. You will find out quick there is more to it then you think.
ReplyDeleteWasn't the money already in place and there from the state? How are we losing any?
ReplyDeleteIf you take the time to read the BOE's plans, they are already planning to make East Salisbury the new BOE offices. They already are planning to use an old building for a new purpose.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bob for trying to look out for the taxpayer. Shame on the Council to not give him 60 days to study. For goodness sake, he has only been in office over 3 months. He has done great work so far and deserved this consideration.

The CIP vote has already been delayed 30 days or more and nothing has been done on the part of the Executives office. Don't blame all the council members for their decision.
Using Bennett Middle for the new BOE offices would cost much more than tearing it down. To remove the asbestos, install A/C and heating, make it ADA compliant, and the basic remodeling would cost the taxpayers much more. I have always found it curious why Wicomico is the only county where all the schools share the same field. This was decided long ago, lets move on and look for ways to save in the future. Another school that needs to be discussed very soon is Beaver Run. That school is a mess and needs to replaced ASAP. Good schools attract and retain great teachers, which makes for better schools, which attracts business to the area.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I voted the first time for M. Holloway. I learned early on he can not be trusted, so I didn't vote for him the second time.
ReplyDeleteI'm sick of this council. They don't care about the TAXPAYER and what they want, they only want to make a statement to Bob Culver. They run things, not him.
Bob is doing a much better job, then this bunch of liars, and cheats on this council. They all could stand to learn a few more lessons about honesty, and integrity from Bob.
We don't need another new school, and we don't need to WASTEFULLY spend more money, when we could re-purpose, save money, and move on. If the dollars were coming out of their pockets, you can bet they would be re-purposing the building and not spending money. They only reason they are is because they will vote to raise our taxes, and the buddy Gilkerson will get the bid, and valuable land will be sold to their friends, and some that are sitting on this council will profit greatly from this deal. I wonder how much M. Holloway is getting for his farm????? Conflict of interest going on there.
"They simply want to research IF a portion and or portions of the current structure can be saved and repurposed while saving the taxpayers money."
ReplyDeleteThey have had plenty of time to research and they failed us. The County Council made the right decision today and I applaud everyone for their efforts.... except Wayne and Sharon of course.
Call em people lwt em know your disgusted...this is a good plan and needs to be in place no more GOB bs

STFU!! You don't know what you are talking about. Did you call any of council members to voice your opinion. No and if you did you would have signed your name. What are you afraid of!

Culver was told to come up with something at the last meeting. Two days ago and he didn't come up with anything then. The CIP was already delayed 60 days for him and he failed to act on it then. Don't blame anyone but Bob Culver. The BOE had their act together. The County Executives office Failed.
Oh for goodness sake 4:48 PM, since when has the BOE EVER had their act together. That lying Frederickson would kiss anyone's behind and I do mean anyone just to get his way. Now if that is what you mean by having their act together, then I guess so.

You obviously haven't been paying attention. Just because you have a hardon for the BOE doesn't mean they didn't have their plan together. Bob was lost with this plan. You just can't delay a project for 6 more months when you don't already have a plan in place. Bob and his staff were lost or they screwed Bob over. The County Council did the right thing.
Bob grow a pair Already.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. If they act like cowards on here without signing their names to their comments they wouldn't make good council members. They wouldn't deserve my vote.

This redistricting needs to stop and the County Council needs to make sure the schools are maintaining their buildings and get on Dr. Freddy's ass about that. If he doesn't maintain the current buildings appropriately then it is time for them to make a point to show him who controls the purse strings.
That building should have been a new site for a alternative school which could house the county s population who are not able to be maintained in a customary class setting. Not only would u save money u would see school suspensions crime & violence drop. I guarantee the morale of teachers & students would go up. The school system is n bad shape right now.
