A Letter To The Editor From John Fredericks: "Two snaps up"

Joe,

I grew up in Salisbury. I spent 19 years there before moving to Austin & seeing your page and your article all but shamed the entire town.

Who are you exactly to be judging others? So what if the mayor is gay? You don't see people writing articles about your poor health choices, lack of vocabulary, and medieval website (but I'm sure they'd be more lengthy than your "article". Or whatever you think your little website is)

It's 2015 and the rest of the world already has a skewed version of the Eastern shore and your backwards, hillbilly, bullying is only making you look like a dickhead. Grow up.

Dear John,

If you go back to my article I simply stated that it is improper for the Mayor to be abusing his position as Mayor to promote not only a Gay Pride event but a Bar event on top of it.

As for Jim being gay, it is what it is. After reading the rest of your letter, who's the one with anger and abuse here. You gays want to act like we're the racists here but every time I get one of these messages or comments it becomes more evident that you are the ones with the hate. I do not hate Jim Ireton. I simply disagree with his lifestyle and politics. At least I'm man enough to flat out say it.

So because it's 2015 I should accept this lifestyle choice? I guess because it's 2015 I should believe Obama is a great President too, eh? Boy, this Country is in BIG trouble.

  1. This country is only in big trouble because of people like John and our gay mayor. Like you said Joe, it is what it is, and the gays are the ones with the attitudes and temper tantrums.

  2. If the mayor shouldn't promote events in his city, what should he do? Just because you don't like the event and don't approve of the people to whom the event is geared, doesn't mean he shouldn't promote it. If it were a Pork in the Park or fireworks event, you wouldn't mind him using his office to promote it. In fact, you would be critical if he didn't. You need to take a hard look at what you are saying.

  3. 9:15, BS!

The Mayor should promote ALL events then, not just ones that fit his wants, needs and lifestyle.

  4. The mayor needs to be bItch slapped.

  5. Keep it up and I'll put both of you in time out. Now play nice.

  6. The mayor's "gayness" is a big part of the problem. It affects how he acts.
He is very impulsive and semi-hysterical much of the time.
I've seen a lot of homosexuals that tend to be that way. 'Acting out'. They know deep inside that what they are doing is wrong, but they don't want anybody to say anything about it. Their conscience is pinging them, and they become hyper-sensitive.

It is what it is, but it reflects very poorly on the city and its government.

I'm sure I'll be called some names over this, but the truth is the truth.

    1. Basically you're saying all homosexuals are drama queens?
Saying Ireton is a bad mayor because he's gay is not only petty and narrow minded, it's also like saying Obama is a terrible president because he's black.

Your truth may be truth for you. Doesn't mean THE truth is the same.

    2. To be honest 9:48, I feel sorry for you.

  7. 9:48 I agree with your statement and I agree with Joe. From observation, the gays or lesbian folks always seem torn up about something. They seem so nervous, have shouting matches, and crying fits. It makes one wonder what in the world is so great about this lifestyle they want so much for the world to accept? They seem to be insecure people who want everybody to change to their thinking. In fact they are the ones that just won't except the other person's (straight) point of view.

  8. He isn't wrong. Grow up.

  9. If God hated gay people, he wouldn't have made us so darn cute.

  10. 9:48 made a statement, then 2 following comments demonstrate its truth.

9:48 didn't say 'all homosexuals' act that way. But many do. I agree.

10:18-- maybe you need to grow up.

  11. Why do most gay activists have a rabid jihad attitude with the straight segment of society?

  12. God loves gay people, 10:58. But he hates what they do, just as He hates other sin. God loves sinners (like me and you), but He hates our sin.
The good news.. it's all forgiven if we accept the sacrifice He offered to pay the price for what we've done.
Jesus took care of it. And I sure am glad, cause I was a MESS.

  13. 10:58 don't count on that the final judgement awaits you

  14. 10:08, tell me one gay person who has a problem with your being straight.

  16. The country is in trouble because of people like John.
John is nothing more than a politically correct robot shell of a human being.
Beaten down so badly that he's afraid to tell the truth so is nothing more than a slave to political correctness. Then being a good little slave boy attempts to chastise those for expressing their rights. IF you don't like it don't read this blog or better yet move to a country where the media is censored.
FYI John who I bet never stepped foot abroad-the rest of the "world" doesn't think the Eastern Shore is backwards. 99.9 percent of the world doesn't even know it exists so try and refrain from lying anyone. A very hard thing for you liberals I know.

  17. "Who are you exactly to be judging others?"

I'll tell you. Joe just like yourself I'm guessing is an American, who if you knew your history would know it is his right to judge within the limits of the law. That's EXACTLY who he is and don't you dare ever forget it!
Don't you ever forget either that by his own choice Jim Ireton is a public figure and if he can't handle the bad with the good then he needs to get the hell out of elected office and let an adult take over.
This is "exactly" what it is in a nutshell. You nor anyone else is going to change anything so quit obsessing over it.

  18. When I reviewed the recent interview Ireton did regarding crime statistics...observed his mannerisms...his hyperbole...his rhetoric...his blaming of others...and his overall inability to actually communicate a cognizant message...I easily beheld all of the problems associated with his life style choices and how they manifest in every other aspect of his life.

Some say, "grow up"...I would say, "repent". All of our choices bear consequences...for good or evil.

  19. The good news here is John is in another state and not here.

  20. John, if this city was so great why did you move to Austin? First you need to come back to this city and see the condition it is in. Crime figures being fudged, roads with potholes so big they could almost swallow a little car. Sidewalks all broken up to the point it could be a liability if someone fell. The City of Salisbury is in the worse condition I in my 65 years have ever seen it. And all our mayor is doing is worrying about a PRIDE day. Give me break!!!!!

  21. Annon 1:50 I am my 67th year. I agree crime is a huge problem in Salisbury but you better wake up as crime is a huge problem everywhere. The Mayor of Salisbury is one person so quit being so narrow minded.

  22. If God wanted you to be gay, he would made to 2 males and 2 females the ability to reproduce you idiot morons. You get with it being gay is un-natural. I don't care if it is 2015.

  25. 11:44 - "Thank you" for sharing the Gospel Truth. You are right on. You took the words right out of my mouth.

It's all right there in the Book of Life, the Holy Bible. All should read it.

Jesus will be the Judge of us all.

    (Are you listening Mayor Ireton?)
