Doctor Had Gun, Wounded Hospital Shooter, Prosecutor Says

DARBY, Pa. - A doctor wounded by a patient in a deadly shooting Thursday afternoon at a suburban hospital campus in Darby, Pa. returned fire and wounded the patient, authorities said.

Investigators believe the doctor had his own gun and acted in self-defense, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan said.

The patient, who had psychiatric problems, opened fire after entering the doctor's office with a caseworker Thursday afternoon, Whelan said. The female caseworker was killed. The doctor appears to have suffered only a graze wound and was expected to be released from treatment later in the day.

Rand Paul Rips Obama As Immigration Becomes Major 2016 Issue

President Barack Obama’s executive amnesty for illegal aliens via the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and other executive orders is a “magnet” for illegal immigration, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) told Breitbart News on Tuesday.

“All of that is a magnet and a beacon for people to come,” Paul said when asked about Obama’s executive immigration orders during a brief interview outside the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) headquarters. “You can’t have any kind of beacon without securing the border first. It really illustrates what conservatives have been saying all along, myself included: You can’t vote for immigration reform, you can’t have immigration reform without first securing the border.”

Paul added that the “whole idea that the president unilaterally offered these areas of forgiveness for the kids—this DREAM kind of forgiveness—the problem is if you do that with an open border, then the whole world will come.” Paul called for the border to be secured, and said that no immigration legislation should be considered unless the border is secured.

“So I think if we’re going to do immigration reform, what we really need is to have the border secure first,” he said. “What it really illustrates for me is that you can’t fix things by offering forgiveness without securing the border first. It’s a big problem. I think we should humanely clothe, feed and give water and sustenance then send them back home to unify them with their families.”

Iraq: 'Islamic State' Leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi Orders Female Genital Mutilation of Two Million Girls

The leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham has asked all families around Iraq's northern city of Mosul to circumcise their daughters or face severe punishment.

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of the self-declared Islamic State, has ordered the female genital mutilation of two million Iraqi girls to "distance them from debauchery and immorality".

The "fatwa" issued by the Sunni Muslim fighters would potentially affect four million women and girls, the UN resident and humanitarian coordinator in Iraq Jacqueline Badcock told reporters in Geneva by video from Irbil.

"This is something very new for Iraq, particularly in this area, and is of grave concern and does need to be addressed," she said.

Video: Hamas Terrorists Fire at IDF Forces From Inside Hospital — Israel Makes Them Regret It After Confirming No Civilians Inside

The Israeli military released a new video on Wednesday reportedly showing Hamas terrorists firing at IDF forces from inside a hospital that they had turned into a “command center and rocket-launching site.”

Going directly against claims from Israel’s critics that the Jewish nation is unconcerned about the deaths of civilians in Gaza, Israel reportedly “repeatedly conveyed warnings to the hospital staff and urged civilians to leave the area.”

The Stealing Of America By The Cops, The Courts, The Corporations And Congress

“What the government is good at is collecting taxes, taking away your freedoms and killing people. It’s not good at much else.” —Author Tom Clancy

Call it what you will—taxes, penalties, fees, fines, regulations, tariffs, tickets, permits, surcharges, tolls, asset forfeitures, foreclosures, etc.—but the only word that truly describes the constant bilking of the American taxpayer by the government and its corporate partners is theft.

We’re operating in a topsy-turvy Sherwood Forest where instead of Robin Hood and his merry band of thieves stealing from the rich to feed the poor, you’ve got the government and its merry band of corporate thieves stealing from the poor to fatten the wallets of the rich. In this way, the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. All the while, the American Dream of peace, prosperity, and liberty has turned into a nightmare of endless wars, debilitating debt, and outright tyranny.

What Americans don’t seem to comprehend is that if the government can arbitrarily take away your property, without your having much say about it, you have no true rights. You’re nothing more than a serf or a slave.

In this way, the police state with all of its trappings—from surveillance cameras, militarized police, SWAT team raids, truancy and zero tolerance policies, asset forfeiture laws, privatized prisons and red light cameras to Sting Ray guns, fusion centers, drones, black boxes, hollow-point bullets, detention centers, speed traps and abundance of laws criminalizing otherwise legitimate conduct—is little more than a front for a high-dollar covert operation aimed at laundering as much money as possible through government agencies and into the bank accounts of corporations.

Time to send the CDC to the IRS

Where are the Centers for Disease Control and their QUARANTINE! tape when you need them the most. The reason? Well, there’s a wild virus afoot at the IRS and it’s killing off computers at an unprecedented rate.

First, it was Lois Lerner’s computer. Then it was the IRS’ email servers. Then it was the email backup tapes.

And today!! Well, it’s still running rampant.

IRS Deputy Associate Chief Counsel Thomas Kane said in transcribed congressional testimony that more IRS officials experienced computer crashes, bringing the total number of crash victims to “less than 20,” and also said that the agency does not know if the lost emails are still backed up somewhere.

There may be 20 or less computers involved in the crashes, but they all seem to be connected to Lois Lerner’s email chain.

More Than 10 Million People Got Insurance Because Of Obamacare, Feds Say

The number of Americans without health insurance declined by 10.3 million because of Obamacare enrollment, according to a report from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Harvard School of Public Health, published in The New England Journal of Medicine on Wednesday.

That represents a reduction in the uninsured rate for adults aged 18 to 64 from 21 percent last September to 16.3 percent this April, the HHS analysis concludes. The lower rate remained stable through June. The first open enrollment period under Obamacare began Oct. 1, 2013, and officially ended March 31, 2014.

The adult uninsured rate has declined across all ages, racial and ethnic groups, and among men and women, according to HHS. The report is based on previously reported Gallup survey data and a comparison to health insurance exchange enrollment numbers compiled by HHS.

Hey Salisbury - How About A(nother) TIF?

SALISBURY — The city of Salisbury is looking for creative ways to address debt and future finances, including establishing Tax Increment Financing (TIF) locations or the flexible use of bonding.

The City Council began a preliminary dialog with brokerage firm Davenport and Company, LLC last Monday, looking for long-term solutions and ideas on how to re-energize Salisbury’s economic drivers.

“The purpose of our conversation today is primarily education to discuss our future as it relates to our debt,” said Council President Jake Day. “We realize that we have a rather significant item in our wastewater treatment plant coming on very soon, and I thought that it would be wise for us to start to have some educational conversations about our debt and our financing structures and options into the future.”

There are a number of different paths that Salisbury could take, according to Joe Mason, a representative from Davenport. Currently, there are several different irons in the fire in terms of projects that could be used to re-vitalize and re-develop Salisbury’s downtown. There could be a window open for witnessing strong growth in the near future if the city chooses to be active in pursuing development, by Davenport’s estimation.

“Construction costs are still relatively favorable,” noted Mason, “as are interest rates.”

TIFs are one possible avenue that could be explored to give the downtown area a jumpstart. In layman’s terms, a TIF uses anticipated future revenue to subsidize the same projects that would trigger said revenue increase. Once completed, TIF projects, either private or publically initiated, are expected to raise the property value and therefore property tax revenue of the surrounding area.

O’Malley Struggles With The Sandman

Anyone who has had to sit through a meeting that lasted all day knows that sometimes it can be hard to stay focused.

Such was the case Wednesday, when during a long and unusual Board of Public Works meeting Gov. Martin J. O’Malley appeared to have trouble keeping his eyes open.

O’Malley, Comptroller Peter V.R. Franchot and Treasurer Nancy K. Kopp were all part of six hours of public meetings that began in the State Treasury Building at 10 a.m. with the exciting world of state bond sales and ended up the street until about 4 p.m. in the Governor’s Reception Room in the State House.

The timing of O’Malley’s struggles with the sandman — those early afternoon, right-after- lunch hours — came during a more than two-hour portion of the meeting set aside for discussion of wetlands permits for the controversial Cove Point liquid natural gas export facility in Lusby, Calvert County.

The Rot Within, Part II: Inflation Is Not “Growth”

Consumption necessarily declines as prices go up and purchasing power goes down

Just as the Federal Reserve cannot directly force you to stick the needle of monetary heroin (debt) into your arm, it also can’t force employers to pay employees more.

The official policy of the Central Bank (Federal Reserve)/government is: inflation is necessary for “growth,” i.e. economic expansion. The unstated reason for this official support of inflation is that it’s easier for borrowers to service their debts as their income inflates.

To take an extreme example: let’s say a homeowner has a mortgage of $100,000, an annual wage of $40,000 and annual mortgage payments of $10,000. At 100% annual inflation in both prices and wages, the home mortgage remains fixed at $100,000, the payment remains fixed at $10,000 but his earnings double to $80,000.

Where the mortgage payment initially took 25% of his earnings, now it only takes 12.5%. Yippee Skippy, the homeowner has an “extra” 12.5% of his earnings to support more consumption and debt: thanks to inflation, the homeowner can now buy a car on credit and use the “extra” 12.5% of earnings to pay the auto loan.

Republicans Demand More Lousy Loans For Black People

WASHINGTON -- A congressional hearing to examine the legacy of President Barack Obama's 2010 Wall Street reform law quickly devolved into a partisan mess Wednesday, with Republicans demanding more loans to low-income minority borrowers, decrying mergers of small banks and pitying the regulatory burden of a community banker who's exempt from the new law's key mortgage rules.

Raising the stakes for this bizarre battle was the testimony of former House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.), the only Democratic witness called for the hearing. Frank pounced after current panel Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) and other Republicans decried the decline in loan availability for low-income and minority borrowers.

"I was very struck by the frankly schizophrenic approach that the majority seems to be making on subprime loans -- loans to poor people," Frank said. "There's a criticism that under the bill, fewer loans are being made to low-income people -- yeah! That was part of what I thought everybody wanted to do. I thought there was a consensus that too many loans were being made to those people."

Study: Record-low Turnouts Seen in Some Primaries

More than half the states to hold primary elections so far have seen record-low turnouts, according to a nonpartisan survey of voter rolls released this week. That perhaps is a sign of widespread apathy within both political parties ahead of November's midterm elections.

Of the almost 123 million voters who were eligible to cast ballots in primaries, only 18 million have done so, and states with same-day voter registration actually saw their turnout rates drop, according to the Center for the Study of the American Electorate. Despite heavy campaign spending that is poised to make history, 15 of the 25 states that have held statewide primary elections each reported a record low percentage of voters who cast ballots.

The low turnout comes amid high stakes. Republicans are driving for the six-seat gain required to control the Senate.

Nonetheless, Democrats saw a 29 percent decline from 2010's primaries, the 11th consecutive midterm elections to see a drop in participation.

Republicans posted a 15 percent decline in participation from 2010. But their rate was closer to historical norms after tea party enthusiasm in 2010 led to a turnout spike.

City Refuses to Pay For Obama Fundraising

The city of Medina, Wash. says it won’t be paying for President Obama’s Tuesday evening fundraising visit.

According to Medina City Manager Mike Sauerwein, prior presidential visits have cost local residents as much as $35,000 due to security related issues; but not anymore.

“We love welcoming people to what we think is one of the most attractive communities in Puget Sound,” Sauerwein told Komo 4 News. “We just don’t feel that we should be passing the costs of the events to our citizens.”

Sauerwein says the bill will instead be sent to former Costco CEO Jim Sinegal, the host of the President’s $25,000 per plate Democratic fundraiser.

Maryland Jiffy Lube Owner Becomes Veterans Crusader

It was Veterans Day 2013, a chilly November morning, when John Way was approached by a young job seeker. The applicant was a veteran and Way, who owns two Jiffy Lube locations in the Baltimore area, immediately identified with him.

“I have a sign on my building that says ‘Veteran Owned and Operated.’ He felt that he would get a chance from me,” Way said. “I wasn’t going to create bad karma by not hiring a veteran on Veteran’s Day. He told me his story and absolutely, I helped him out.”

This experience led Way to launch a goal in January 2014, that at least 50 percent of his new hires would be veterans by the end of the year.

STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION TO PAINT AND CLEAN FIVE BRIDGES ON MARYLAND’S LOWER EASTERN SHORE

Work Begins July 25th and Will Continue Through Mid-August

Beginning Friday, July 25, 2014, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will start a project to paint and clean five bridges on state-maintained roads in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties.   The work will occur seven days-a-week during daytime hours only and is expected to be complete by mid-August, weather permitting.

Motorists should see painting crews on site at each of the bridges this Friday through Sunday, July 25-27, setting up equipment and doing prep work at each of the five locations. The cleaning and painting, primarily on the structural steel underneath the roadways, will be done on the following bridges:

• Somerset County - MD 413 (Crisfield Highway) over the Big Annemessex River just north of Marion Station.  Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

• Wicomico County - Two bridges on US 13 Northbound and Southbound at the crossing of MD 12 (Snow Hill Road) at Nutters Crossing. Crews will work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

• Wicomico County - MD 353 (Gumboro Road) Northbound and Southbound over Aydelotte Branch just south of Rounds Road  in the Town of Pittsville.  Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

• Worcester County - MD 12 (Snow Hill Road) Northbound and Southbound over Nassawango Creek just west of Old Furnace Road. Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

These are the first five of a total of 10 bridges in the three counties that will be cleaned and painted in the three lower Eastern Shore Counties this year.  The total contract for the maintenance work for all of the bridges is $1,025,400 and was awarded to Reglas Painting and Construction, Baltimore.

All of the bridges are fixed spans and no lane closures or detours will be required.  All staging areas for equipment will be on the road shoulders of each bridge maintenance project.

Cleaning and painting the bridges  preserves existing steel sections and protects them from  corrosion which could cause expensive and time consuming repairs and bridge closures in the future. Early this fall SHA will announce the locations and work hours for the remaining five bridges to be repainted in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safe driving. Safe work zones. For everyone!

Michigan Dept of Agri Forces Farmer to Dump 248 Gallons of Organic Milk and Break 1200 Free Range Eggs

While Americans in the nearby city of Detroit face life in third world conditions, unable to even afford running water, the state of Michigan decided to direct its resources towards cracking down on a small food co-op in Standish for having the utter audacity to provide milk, butter, cream and eggs to people who bought shares in the organic dairy.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture must be so proud of their deeds, after they forced Joe and Brenda Golimbieski, the owners of Hill High Dairy and Jenny Samuelson, the owner of My Family Co-op, to dump out 248 gallons of milk, to break 100 dozen eggs, and to destroy an undisclosed amount of fresh cream, butter and cheese.

According to a post on the Hill High Dairy page on Facebook, the agents from the MDA stood over the family, watching as the food was destroyed.

100 dozen eggs… Each egg had to be broken. 248 gallons dumped in a sprayer that had to be witnessed by MDA being dumped and sprayed on the field.

[Graphic] Terrorist’s Funeral Ends With Unexpected Surprise: “Allahu Akbar”

Islamists love violence and s their ther they’re holding their child in front of gunfire to blame Israel for killing their children, or detonate a car bomb in a busy public square, no task is too gruesome for a devout Muslim terrorist.

Perhaps the most honorable means of fighting infidels is to strap a suicide bomb vest to their chest and take as many non-Muslims with them as they can, which is exactly what one of their own did.

At the fallen terrorist’s funeral, however, there was an “unexpected surprise,” leaving many of the late bomber’s fanatics in the same position as their dear hero.

Apparently, the person who prepared the body to be carried through the streets forgot one very important detail – removing the suicide vest.

The Strange Case of Jonathan Reich

Jonathan Reich, a 22-year-old man residing in Avon, New York was arrested in May 2013 for several phone calls he made in January 2013 to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner H. Wayne Carver II and other parties involved in the December 14, 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. As most readers of Memory Hole are aware, Carver was Connecticut’s controversial chief medical examiner who allegedly oversaw the autopsies of the Sandy Hook shooting victims, then guffawed through a brief press conference with reporters from national media outlets and hasn’t been heard from since.

Alongside calls placed to Carver’s office, Reich, who went by the name “Scotty Walker” on YouTube and other online forums, called the Allison Wyatt Foundation for Allison (victim, 6 yrs old) to point out that on the organization’s Donations page the photo alleging to be Allison was in fact one Lily Gaubert. Reich inquired whether the foundation was aware of the anomaly and asked if it would be changed. The wrong image stayed on the donation page for a few additional weeks.

In another instance, Reich politely asked several questions to the Carver’s receptionist concerning the state coroner’s involvement in state legislation related to child autopsies as well as the shooting’s aftermath. I have examined Sandy Hook police reports related to the case, which note that “Jonathan Reich was investigated for calling the [Office of the Connecticut Medical Examiner] and it was determined that no criminal actions had taken place and that no action to press charges will be taken.”

The Future Is Smaller - That's The Only Way This Works

Leopold Kohr was a rather obscure Austrian economist from the early 20th century who spent the better part of his career railing against the ‘cult of bigness’.

Kohr’s fundamental premise was simple: Big doesn’t work. Big corporations. Big governments. Big countries. There are just too many problems from size.

Think about ancient Rome. As the empire expanded, Rome’s imperial government had to create layers and layers of bureaucracies. Municipal levels, provincial levels, regional levels, etc.

They had to maintain a massive standing army to secure their constantly-growing borders. Tax collection was a nightmare. Infrastructure constantly needed expansion and maintenance.

And rather than writing that “Bonnie in IT says she’s taken affected systems offline,” the Journal report cites the ever-present “people familiar with the matter.”

Grocery Store Runs On Electricity Generated By Its Own Food Waste

It’s the ciiiiiiircle, the circle of life, but instead of a cartoon lion there’s a grocery store running on electricity generated by the same food waste that store creates. More recycling, fewer anthropomorphic talking animals, but it’s a circle… of science.

The Sainsbury superstore in Staffordshire, England is reportedly the first time a retailer in that country has come off the National Grid to power a store, reports the BBC.

The store already sends all its food waste to an anaerobic digestion plant, which basically feeds the garbage to bacteria that break down the food in many steps, producing primarily carbon dioxide and methane gas, explains Popular Science.

The methane is separated from the carbon dioxide and turned into biomethane gas, which is then used to generate electricity. A 1.5-kilometer-long cable carries the electricity back to the store.

The 170-foot long,  500 ton ship is the only Galeon class vessel sailing today.  Five of the seven decks will be available for the public to tour. It carries an all Spanish crew of 25 sailors, several of which will welcome visitors onboard when they tour this one-of-a-kind vessel.
El Galeon Andalucia is currently featured in the NBC series Crossbones starring John Malkovich as the legendary pirate Blackbeard which airs on Friday nights. After visiting Ocean City last summer, the ship spent three months in Puerto Rico where the series was filmed.
"El Galeon will bring the spirit of discovery and exploration to over two hundred thousand visitors on its Sail to Sunny Fort Lauderdale,” said Bryan Lilley, head of the National Air, Sea & Space Foundation. “When you step onboard the ship it’s like traveling back in time 500 years to experience for yourself what it was like to explore the new World.”

“When the ship sails into a port it’s like bringing a hands on learning experience on the scale of a field trip to St. Augustine, Jamestown or Plymouth to the community,” Lilley said.  “The foundation is proud to be able to offer such an opportunity to public school students free of charge.”
The ship will be open for public tours daily from 10 am to 6 pm in each port-of-call.  The foundation will host an evening event in each port where the public can come on board at night to see the ship. THREE CHARGED WITH MURDER OF CECIL CO. MAN

(PORT DEPOSIT, MD) – An adult and two youths have been charged with the murder earlier this year of a Cecil County man with whom they lived.

Alishawaine R. Monk, 23, of the unit block of Green Lane, Port Deposit, Md., is charged with first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault, conspiracy to commit first and second degree murder, and conspiracy to commit first and second degree assault. Monk had been arrested on July 2, 2014, by a US Marshals Service fugitive task force at a relative’s home in Philadelphia. That arrest was the result of a warrant obtained by Maryland State Police for drug charges that resulted from the ongoing murder investigation. State Police returned Monk to Maryland on July 22nd and served him with the murder charges. He is currently awaiting an initial appearance before a court commissioner at the Cecil County Detention Center.

Willy Woodberry, 14, of the unit block of Green Lane, Port Deposit, Md., is charged as an adult with first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault, conspiracy to commit first and second degree murder, and conspiracy to commit first and second degree assault. He was arrested without incident at his residence on July 22nd by Maryland State Police. A District Court commissioner ordered him held without bond at the Cecil County Detention Center.

The third suspect is being charged as a juvenile and is not being identified. He is 11 years old. He is charged with first and second degree murder and first and second degree assault. He was staying with relatives in Philadelphia, Pa, where he was taken into custody on July 22nd by police who were acting on a body attachment issued by the Cecil County State’s Attorney’s Office. Department of Juvenile Services officials are working with Pennsylvania authorities to return this suspect to Maryland.

The victim is identified as Vincent M. Robertson, 47, of the unit block of Green Lane, Port Deposit, Md. Robertson was found dead in his home when emergency medical services personnel responded there for what was reported to be a medical call on the morning of February 17, 2014. After what appeared to be a gunshot wound was observed, Maryland State Police were called and the State Police Homicide Unit initiated an investigation.

An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the victim had died from gunshot wounds. His death was ruled a homicide.

The victim lived in the residence with his wife and her five sons. An intense and extensive investigation led by the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit developed evidence that implicated three of the five sons in Robertson’s murder. Evidence was presented to the Cecil County state’s attorney for review and he approved charges for the three suspects. A specific motive for the murder remains unclear at this time.

Investigative assistance was provided by the Cecil County Narcotics Task Force, the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office, the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division Northern Region, the Gang Enforcement Unit, and the Maryland State Apprehension Team. Assistance was also provided by the Philadelphia Police Department and the US Marshals Service.

Their job, as professionals, is to weigh the evidence and arguments on all sides of an issue and reach a conclusion. Of course, we all know it doesn’t work in the civics-textbook way when lobbyists, donors and powerful special-interest groups are involved.

But how many times has an officeholder pushed for more funding to eradicate a disease that happened to strike a relative? Or softened or changed a position on same-sex marriage after learning that a son or daughter is gay?

The latest case in point is Sen. Joe Manchin. But the West Virginia Democrat finds himself in the uncomfortable position of opposing what his own daughter did.

Manchin’s daughter is Heather Bresch, the CEO of a generic drug firm called Mylan that makes big bucks from Medicare and Medicaid.

Last week, the company announced that it was renouncing its status as an American company and would be incorporated in the Netherlands. In other words, it would still be a U.S. company and milk the U.S. market, but avoid a whole lot of taxes.

Gubernatorial Candidates Point Fingers Over Beretta Move

The candidates for governor are weighing in on the decision by gun maker Beretta to stop making weapons in Maryland.

The company announced Tuesday that it would move its manufacturing operations, with 160 jobs, from Prince George's County, to a new facility in Tennessee, starting next year. The company says it would continues to keep administrative and marketing offices in Maryland.

Lt. Governor Anthony Brown's campaign manager, issued a news release, noting the state worked with with Beretta to stay in Maryland, but it appeared that the company" never planned on staying."

The statement from campaign manager Justin Schall adds that Hogan's objections are more troubling noting Hogan opposes provisions in the laws preventing the mentally ill from getting guns.

Hillary's Bullying the Media

Hillary Clinton’s $35 doorstop of a memoir is a flop. It was a best-seller to hard-core Democrats, but her advance is estimated at $14 million, which means Simon & Schuster is taking a bath in the hopes of publishing a future president.

Worse yet, The Washington Post reported that according to an Amazon.com measurement of which electronic books are most-read, Hillary’s book came in dead-last among recent political books. Every time people highlight something in a book on their Kindles, Amazon records that data. By that measure, most readers barely started it. “The deepest into Hard Choices the popular highlights get is page 33, a quote about smart power. Three of the five most-popular highlights occur within the first 10 pages.”

After “Hard Choices” came the anti-Hillary books. Ed Klein’s “Blood Feud” claims the Clintons and the Obamas loathe each other. It replaced “Hard Choices” at the top of the best-seller list. The New York Post reported Hillary told college friends last year that President Obama was “incompetent and feckless” and charged that he had “no hand on the tiller half the time.”

That sounds quite accurate – but it’s unsubstantiated. Klein’s reliance on anonymous sources gives the pro-Hillary media a reason to ignore him. That doesn’t mean they don’t have a double standard, however. Recall NBC and others gleefully detailing the gossipy Joe McGinniss character assassination of Sarah Palin in 2011; and never mind Kitty Kelley’s uber-trashy Nancy Reagan biography.

The Sandy Hook “Smoking Gun”: Game, Set, Match!

BREAKING NEWS! A photograph of the photographer taking the photograph proves that it was a drill.

Shannon Hicks receives NENPA award for her staged Sandy Hook photograph

During a debate about Sandy Hook with someone who refused to identify himself other than as “Count One”, I was repeatedly challenged to produce extraordinary evidence.

He repeated and repeated the refrain, “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof!” But the evidence I was producing, time after time, was extraordinary and met that standard.

The most extraordinary is that the “iconic” photograph taken by Shannon Hicks for which she was named “Photographer of the Year” was actually one in a series staged for the fake shooting!

This case abounds with extraordinary proof that has been published in “Top Ten Reasons: Sandy Hook was an elaborate Hoax”, “Sandy Hook Elementary School: Closed in 2008, a stage in 2012″ and “The Newtown School Board meeting and the meaning of silence”, including, for example:

* that the final report from Connecticut authorities does not included the names, the ages or the sex of the alleged victims of the shooting: THAT IS EXTRAORDINARY!

* that the Clerk of Newtown entered into secret negotiations with the state legislature to avoid releasing their death certifications: THAT IS EXTRAORDINARY!

* that the Connecticut State Attorney General opposed the release of the 911 calls and had to be denied withholding them by courts: THAT IS EXTRAORDINARY!

* that a special panel of the state legislature recommended state employees who released information about Sandy Hook be subject to an E-felony: THAT IS EXTRAORDINARY!

* that those who were involved in the demolition of the school building itself were required to sign life-time gag orders about anything they saw or did not see: THAT IS EXTRAORDINARY!

Black and white is the new orange? Sheriff buys jail jumpsuits after orange becomes 'cool'

SAGINAW, MI — If orange is the new black, as the popular TV show title says, then black-and-white stripes are the new orange at the Saginaw County Jail.

The jail's all-orange jumpsuits increasingly are viewed as "cool," Saginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel says, prompting him to begin purchasing jumpsuits with horizontal black-and-white stripes for use inside the jail instead.

The choice was not arbitrary, the sheriff says.

Maryland Has Successful Sale of $1.15 Billion in General Obligation Bonds

ANNAPOLIS – Maryland State Treasurer Nancy K. Kopp
announced that the Board of Public Works (BPW), composed of Governor Martin O’Malley, Comptroller Peter Franchot and Treasurer Kopp, completed the sale of $1,149,715,000 of General Obligation bonds today in three series, including the direct retail sale of $50,385,000 of Series A bonds which sold on July 18th and July 21st exclusively to retail investors with a first priority to Maryland residents.

The direct retail bond sale (Series A), conducted through a group of
underwriters led by Citigroup Global Markets, Inc., carried a true interest rate of 1.1883%. The net premium was $6,381,311.

Competitive sales for Series B and Series C occurred at today’s BPW meeting.

The State received bids for the $449,615,000 of Tax-Exempt General Obligation Bonds (Series B) and the $649,715,000 of Tax-Exempt Refunding Bonds (Series C). The Series C Refunding Bonds will reduce the State’s debt service by approximately $58.3 million.

In today’s competitive sales:

 $449,615,000 in tax-exempt bonds in Series B sold at a true interest cost of 2.6535%; the winning bidder was J.P. Morgan Securities, LLC, and the net premium was $64,221,141; and
$649,715,000 in tax-exempt refunding bonds in Series C sold at a true interest cost of 1.8821%; the winning bidder was Morgan Stanley & Co., LLC, and the net premium was $148,876,381.

There were five bidders on Series B and five bidders on Series C.
Treasurer Kopp commented “Today’s results were very satisfying for the taxpayers of Maryland. The State was well-timed to be in the market and benefited from investors’ ‘flight to quality’. The demand for Maryland bonds and the resulting favorable interest rates are a reflection of the top quality of Maryland’s credit and the security of the investment it provides. The State’staxpayers benefit from saving millions of dollars because of our strong AAA bond ratings and resultant lower interest rates. In addition, today’s successful sale of tax-exempt refunding bonds will save Maryland taxpayers more than $58million in debt service costs. It is also good news that all Marylanders who wanted to do so were able to buy the State’s high-quality bonds during the retail sale period. Their investment in Maryland in turn will allow Maryland to invest in projects that support communities throughout the State. Overall, Maryland’s
citizens benefit from the investment in Maryland’s schools, colleges, hospitals, prisons and cultural projects that are supported with bond proceeds.”

Maryland is one of only ten states to currently hold the AAA rating, the highest possible rating, from all three major bond rating agencies. The AAA was affirmed by Fitch, Moody’s, and Standard & Poor’s as recently as July 7, 2014, in anticipation of this bond sale.

The Maryland State Treasurer’s Office expects to conduct another bond sale in February or March 2015.

Hogan agrees to eighth candidates’ forum as Brown continues to duck debates

ANNAPOLIS – Larry Hogan’s campaign announced that the gubernatorial candidate today has agreed to a fifth televised debate, this one to be co-hosted by NewsChannel 8, WTOP and POLITICO. This is the eighth overall gubernatorial forum the Anne Arundel businessman has accepted and agreed to participate in. As of today, Lt. Governor Brown had yet to confirm participation in any televised debates.

Today’s announcement follows news that Anthony Brown would only agree to participate in the Maryland Association of Counties’ (MACO) candidates forum, with the condition that he not appear on the stage at the same time as Hogan, the GOP nominee. The Hogan campaign reiterated that it had placed no restrictions on the format of the MACO or other forums and expressed its strong preference to have a moderated back-and-forth exchange between the candidates for governor.

Larry Hogan said, "As Anthony Brown has ducked questions about his mismanagement of the Health Exchange or any other questions regarding his record, he is apparently continuing to hide in his communication bunker and is trying to duck any serious debates. The voters of Maryland deserve better. After two terms of O’Malley-Brown, the voters need to hear directly from Brown on why he deserves another four years. Brown wants a promotion, but he refuses to show up to the interview," Hogan said. Hogan has accepted invitations from major news stations in both the Baltimore and DC media markets and on the Eastern Shore. Including today accepting the NewsChannel 8/WTOP/POLITICO debate, Hogan has accepted invitations for candidate debates or forums from:

· June 26 - Invite received for Maryland Municipal League (MML) Gubernatorial Candidates Forum

· July 1 – Accepted invitation to MML candidates’ forum and issued statement calling for several TV debates around the state.

· July 3 – Invite received and accepted for WBFF TV Gubernatorial Debate.

· July 6 – Invite received and accepted for Maryland Association of Counties candidates’ forum.

· July 8 – Invite received and accepted for WJZ-TV/Baltimore Sun gubernatorial debate

· July 8 - Invite received and accepted for WBAL-TV/WBOC/WHAG/MPT – gubernatorial debate

· Week of July 14 - Agreed to attend a debate to be hosted by WMDT-TV

· July 14 - Accepted invitation to Maryland Fraternal Order of Police candidates’ forum

· July 23 - Received and accepted invitation to NewsChannel8-WTOP-POLITICO Debate
