Retired pediatric neurosurgeon Ben Carson has freely shared his theological views since his bold 2013 National Prayer Breakfast speech catapulted him onto the national stage — and in a recent interview he affirmed his support for the biblical definition of marriage, encouraging Christians to stand up against “intolerance.”
When asked how Christians can “show God’s love to the gay community without compromising God’s word,” Carson, an outspoken Christian, told Charisma News that he believes consenting adults should be able to do whatever they want, but that the definition of marriage shouldn’t change.

Cruz to Hillary: Want Benghazi Answers? Quit Stonewalling
Republican Sen. Ted Cruz says he was encouraged to hear Hillary Clinton say she wants answers on Benghazi, but he said she could go a long way toward making that happen if she stops trying to prevent the answers from being heard.
"Secretary Clinton from the beginning has stonewalled on this rather than acting as a partner getting to the bottom of what happened," Cruz said Tuesday on CNN's "Erin Burnett Out Front."

Guess How Many Senior Officials Received an ‘Unsatisfactory’ Rating Across the Entire Gov’t in 2012
A Department of Veterans Affairs official testified Friday that just three of the roughly 7,000 senior officials working across the entire federal government received an “unsatisfactory” performance rating in 2012, or about one-twentieth of one percent.
Gina Farrisee, an assistant secretary at the Department of Veterans Affairs, told the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee that senior officials typically are ranking in the top three performance categories, and that being ranked in the lower two categories — “minimally satisfactory” and “unsatisfactory” — is almost unheard of.

Female Student Infects 324 Men With HIV As Revenge!
A female student from Nakura in Kenya, who studies at Kabarak University, has disclosed that she has infected a total of 324 men with the AIDS causing virus – Human Immunodeficiency (HIV). She has apparently got infected with the dreaded virus at a party by a man. Now this girl wants revenge and is planning to infect at least 2000 healthy men.
If new reports are to be believed this girl, whose identity is not yet known confessed on Facebook through Kenyan Scandals. She called them with the claim that she had something to reveal. She wanted her identity protected. Once she got this assurance she stated that it all happened on 22nd of September 2013, a day she said she would never forget. She said she had gone to the club in town with some senior friends and got drunk. They all returned to the hostels to continue partying there. She woke up the next morning and realized that a boy named Javan had sexual intercourse with her. She had been completely out as she was drunk.
But the Kenyan Daily Post did reveal her identity perhaps in the interest of the innocent people around. The paper published a photo of her profile on Facebook along with the article.

Giant Food of Landover, Md., is presenting over $2 million to 2,055 local schools in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Delaware as a result of its 2013-14 A+ School Rewards program. A+ School Rewards provides a simple way for schools to earn funds to support school programs and enrichment activities every time a customer makes a purchase using their Giant card in their neighborhood Giant Food. Throughout Delaware, 57 schools will receive more than $31,800.
“The A+ School Rewards program allows us to give back, in a meaningful way, to the community that supports Giant,” said Gordon Reid, president, Giant Food of Landover, Md. “For a quarter century, Giant’s school rewards program has made a real impact in supporting critical educational and extracurricular programming in our community classrooms across Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Delaware. Hillary says Iraq pullout 'was a mistake by the Iraqi government'
Hillary Clinton suggested Tuesday that President Barack Obama bears no responsibility for his decision to pull American troops out of Iraq at the end of 2011, a decision that created a power vacuum now filled by a vicious Islamist terror group.
'In retrospect, that was a mistake by the Iraqi government,' she said during a town hall on CNN.
Clinton was referring to the two governments' failure to sign a mutual Status of Forces Agreement, a document that would have kept American servicemen and women in Iraq as a stabilizing force after 2011.
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki reportedly balked on a U.S. proposal because it would have included legal immunity for American troops who broke local laws.

Weekend Route 1 Tolls Will Increase $1
Starting in July, the weekend toll on Route 1 at Biddle's and Dover toll plazas will increase by $1 to $3.
The weekend toll per passenger vehicle is $2 from Friday night to Sunday night, but those tolls will increase to $3 sometime next month.
The increase is expected to bring an additional $10 million annually to state transportation coffers.
Under state law, the Delaware Department of Transportation can raise tolls on its own authority. Even so, the move was not made without Bond Bill Committee approval and consultation with the General Assembly, said Geoff Sundstrom, DelDOT spokesman.

Cantor Lost Because He Sold Out His District
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor lost his primary election because he "really represented Washington, D.C., instead of his home district in Virginia," says Matt Kibbe, of the conservative lobbying group FreedomWorks.
Kibbe told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV on Tuesday that the veteran lawmaker "spent all of his time and energy planning his takeover of the [House] speaker's job instead of paying any attention to the folks back home."

Baltimore County Launches Pedestrian Safety Program
Yellow signs that read "Heads Up Walk Safe" are being placed along major roadways in Baltimore County.
It is part of a public education campaign unveiled Thursday that police and fire officials hope will curb an increase in the number of fatal pedestrian accidents in the county.
Last year, 22 people died after they were struck and killed by either a passing car or truck, while crossing the street in Baltimore County.
Fire Chief John Hohman tells WBAL News that in all but three of those incidents, the pedestrian was at fault.

FLASHBACK: Remember When Paul Wolfowitz Said Not to Worry About Sectarian Violence in Iraq?
The former Bush administration official is perhaps the worst person to give advice about the current crisis in Iraq—but that hasn't stopped him from speaking out.
This past weekend, as the crisis in Iraq intensified, Paul Wolfowitz appeared on Meet the Press to share his wisdom on the current predicament there. Wolfowitz was the deputy defense secretary and an architect of the US invasion of Iraq during the Bush-Cheney administration, and he remarked on the show that talk of sectarian violence in Iraq was misguided: "This is more than just those obscure Shia/Sunni conflict[s]." He advised that the United States should "stick with our friends, and those friends are not always perfect." Wolfowitz seemed to be suggesting that the Obama administration should stand strong with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, despite Maliki's authoritarian, corrupt, and inept ways. But moments later Wolfowitz said, "It's a complicated situation in which you don't just come up with, 'We're going to bomb this, we're going to do that.'" And then he said, "Maliki is a big part of the problem. He's not a leader of Iraq. We need to find people there."
It was confusing. After the invasion of Iraq, the Bush crew backed a consolidation of power by the Maliki-led coalition of religious-oriented Shiite parties and decimated the Sunni establishment that had previously controlled the government and the military. And now Wolfowitz was saying that Washington should hang tough with its pal—but that its pal was also the problem. Huh? The big brain behind the Iraq War had nothing of consequence to recommend.

Gubernatorial Candidates Against Idea To Tax Vehicle Miles Traveled
BALTIMORE —Maryland officials have been considering introducing a tax on vehicle miles traveled as an encouragement, of sorts, to cut emissions. The WBAL-TV 11 News I-Team asked the candidates for governor where they stand on the issue.
It's not easy to find common ground among the top three Democrats running for governor until you ask whether they support the idea of a new tax known as the vehicles miles traveled.
The proposal is intended to cut vehicle emissions in that the more you drive, the more you'd pay. Other states are close to implementing the tax. Volunteers in Oregon will have meters installed next year and will pay 1.5 cents a mile instead of a state gas tax.

CHUCK TODD: The Public Is Telling Obama His Presidency Is 'Over'
A new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Wednesday found some disastrous-looking numbers for President Barack Obama — and NBC's Chuck Todd said they amounted to the public telling Obama his presidency is "over."
"This poll is a disaster for the president," Todd said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Wednesday. "You look at the presidency here. Lowest job rating — tied for the lowest. Lowest on foreign policy. His administration is seen as less competent than the Bush administration, post-Katrina."

‘Pay As You Throw’ To Begin
Worcester County will begin a pilot program Jan. 1, 2015 for people to dispose of their trash on a “pay as you throw” system as part of a plan for its Solid Waste Division to lose less money.
“The only thing we’re going to do today is put a Band-Aid on it,” said Bud Church, president of the Worcester County Commissioners said Tuesday, of that new program and higher fees for home owners’ permits.
Homeowners selecting that option would pay $1 per bag, of up to the 33-gallon size, to dispose of their solid waste. The “pay as you throw” fees would be sold on a punch card in $10 increments at the Treasurer’s Office, Cape Isle of Wight office, the central landfill and through the mail. People would be responsible for supplying the 33-gallon trash bags themselves. The bags would be accepted at the convenience centers in Berlin, Snow Hill and Pocomoke and at the homeowner permit area at the central landfill.

Anne Arundel Medical Center Won't Hire Smokers In The Future
Anne Arundel Medical Center has a new employment policy: it will no longer hire smokers.
The medical center says it's been smoke free since 2007 but wants to provide a safe and healthy environment, and promote the health and well-being of its employees. The Maryland hospital's new employment policy goes into effect in July of next year. Officials say the policy won't apply to smokers who are already working for the hospital.
Starting next month, the use of all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, will be banned at all the hospital's facilities.

The Most Destructive Presidencies In U.S. History: George W. Bush & Barack H. Obama
Powers once granted are almost impossible to take back.
After 13.5 years, there is more than enough evidence for reasonable people to conclude that the presidencies of George W. Bush and Barack H. Obama are easily the most destructive in U.S. history.
When historians speak of failed presidencies or weak presidencies, they are typically referring to presidencies characterized by uneven leadership, petty corruption by self-serving cronies or in extreme cases such as the Nixon presidency, abuses of executive power.
But weak or failed presidencies are not destructive to the rule of law and the foundations of the nation. The failed president leaves office and the basic structure of the nation continues: the rule of law, the balance of powers and a free-market economy.
A destructive president weakens or corrupts these core structures in favor of executive-branch powers, and passes these unconstitutional powers to the next executive for further expansion.
The Bush and Obama presidencies have effectively dismantled the rule of law and the Constitution by invoking essentially unlimited executive powers in the name of "national security:" we the citizens of the U.S. can now be accused of violating secret laws, be indicted in secret, tried in secret and sentenced to life in prison based on evidence fabricated in secret, i.e. declaring unclassified documents classified after the fact to incriminate and imprison whistleblowers.
How is this any different from totalitarian fascist regimes?

Obama rules out immediate Iraq air strikes, will try diplomacy
President Barack Obama has ruled out an immediate campaign of air strikes against a militant Islamist terror group that is running roughshod over Iraq, senior administration officials told reporters on Wednesday.
When he meets at 3:00 p.m. with congressional leaders from both parties, he will reportedly explain his preference for continued diplomacy and intelligence gathering for Iraq's army over bombing and guided-missile campaigns.
Although the president hasn't made a final decision – that will likely come by week's end – plugged-in officials are talking quietly about a 'comprehensive' approach that would include deploying limited numbers of Special Forces and applying pressure to Iraq's Shia government to be more inclusive of the country's Sunni minority.
A 5:10 p.m. meeting with Secretary of State John Kerry will follow the president' sit-down with key members of Congress, according to his schedule.

Alleged child rape victim reportedly says Hillary Clinton lied about her in '75 case
A woman who says she was raped as a 12-year-old girl by an Arkansas man who was defended by a young novice defense attorney named Hillary Clinton says the future presidential candidate smeared her to get her attacker off with a light sentence.
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Beast, the now 52-year-old woman, whose name was withheld by the publication out of concern for her privacy, said she still harbors anger toward Clinton.
“Hillary Clinton took me through Hell,” the victim said.
The victim in the 1975 sexual abuse case that became Clinton’s first criminal defense said she wants to speak out after hearing Clinton talk about her case onnewly discovered audio recordings from the 1980s, unearthed by the Washington Free Beacon and made public this week.
The woman told The Daily Beast Clinton intentionally lied about her in court documents, went to extraordinary lengths to discredit evidence of the rape, and later callously acknowledged - even laughed - about her attackers’ guilt on the recordings.

No surprise here: Pennsylvania still has revenue problem
HARRISBURG, Pa. — With just two weeks left before the June 30 budget deadline, the state’s Independent Fiscal Office has released its latest revenue projections.
And, yeah, Pennsylvania still has a problem.
The IFO projected Monday that 2013-14 general fund revenues will be $28.54 billion. That’s $572 million below earlier expectations and $103 million less than the past fiscal year, according to the IFO.
It’s no surprise, as revenues have come in low all spring and appear to be headed that way again this month.
Next year’s revenues are projected to rebound to about $29.45 billion, but that’s still $870 million less than the estimates from February’s executive budget, according to the IFO. That makes a two-year difference of $1.44 billion.

Presbyterian Assembly: Gay Marriage Is Christian
The top legislative body of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has voted by large margins to recognize same-sex marriage as Christian in the church constitution, adding language that marriage can be the union of "two people," not just "a man and a woman."
The amendment approved Thursday by the Presbyterian General Assembly requires approval from a majority of the 172 regional presbyteries, which will vote on the change over the next year. But in a separate policy change that takes effect at the end of this week's meeting, delegates voted to allow ministers to preside at gay weddings in states where the unions are legal and local congregational leaders approve. Nineteen states and the District of Columbia recognize same-sex marriage.
The votes, during a national meeting in Detroit, were a sweeping victory for Presbyterian gay-rights advocates. The denomination in 2011 eliminated barriers to ordaining clergy with same-sex partners, but ministers were still barred from celebrating gay marriages and risked church penalties for doing so. Alex McNeill, executive director of More Light Presbyterians, a gay advocacy group, said the amendment was "an answer to many prayers."
The Rev. Krystin Granberg of the New York Presbytery — in a state that recognizes gay marriage — said she receives requests "all the time" from friends and parishioners to preside at their weddings.
"They want to be married in the church they love and they want me to do it," Granberg said during the debate. "I want pastoral relief."

Hillary Clinton's Criminality in Benghazi
Last week, former Secretary of State and presumed Democratic 2016 presidential nominee Hillary Clinton writes that her handling of the Benghazi crisis of September 11, 2012 actually provides more impetus for a White House run.
Clinton told ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, “It’s more of a reason to run, because I do not believe our great country should be playing minor league ball. We ought to be in the majors.” Characterizing four dead Americans and the investigations surrounding them as “minor league ball” is nothing new for the woman who infamously screamed that the rationale behind their murder was irrelevant. In her book, Hillary stated that she would not be “part of a political slugfest on the backs of dead Americans.” She said that even as he claimed that there would never be “perfect clarity” on what happened in Benghazi. Which is true, given that Hillary won’t tell the truth about what was going on there.
Rather than trotting around the book circuit claiming the mantle of White House frontrunner thanks to her inaction and malfeasance in Benghazi, she should be sitting in the defendant’s chair in a court of law.

Shiller: Stock 'Market Is Highly Priced'
Many investors are nervous that the stock market may soon plunge, and that concern is understandable, says Nobel laureate economist Robert Shiller of Yale University.
"We should already be worried about a steep decline," he tells Forbes. "The market is highly priced, but by my standards not quite as highly priced as it was in 2007."
Shiller is referring to his cyclically adjusted price-earnings ratio, which is based on the last 10 years of earnings.

City Official, Drunk On The Job, Suspended
Despite being up and running, the Ocean City Brewing Company will be appearing before the City Council again in two weeks to try to improve its situation – with at least one major wrench thrown into an already contested process.
After having paid $32,299.40 in permitting and inspection fees to the city, the brewery was given its final certificate of occupancy inspection on Friday, June 6, by a city official who was alleged to have been intoxicated.
Ocean City Today has confirmed that an official, who will remain unnamed, has been suspended for returning to City Hall drunk on the day of the CO inspection.
The city does not typically disclose personnel issues, but in the current case, the incident stands to further aggravate the brewing company’s long-standing assertion that the city’s Byzantine zoning and building fee structure is a impediment to sustainable business growth.

Iraq's ambassador to the U.S. warns of 'a thousand' Bin Ladens in ISIS
The Sunni extremists running roughshod across Iraq could produce 'a thousand' global terrorists like Osama bin Laden bent on widespread death and destruction, Iraq's ambassador to the United States warned on Monday.
Lukman Faily said that if the United States and other nations focus too much on Iraq's internal politics and ignore the 'immediate threat' of a terrorist movement that's gathering steam, the results will be catastrophic.
'This is a global tumor in Iraq taking place now and in Syria,' he said, referring to the Sunni militant group calling itself the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). 'We've seen it before.'
The White House has scolded Nouri al-Maliki's government in Baghdad for provoking ISIS by alienating the country's Sunni minority.
Barack Obama said on Friday that U.S. military intervention would be conditioned on reconciliation efforts from Maliki's Shia majority.

ISIS 'seizes Iraq's largest oil refinery' and kidnaps 100 foreigners
Insurgents claim they have seized 75 per cent control of the country's largest oil refinery today despite Iraq's prime minister insisting his government has regained the initiative against Sunni militants.
Nouri al-Maliki, a Shi'ite who has been in office since 2006, said in a televised address that the loss last week of a large swathe of territory has helped Iraq restore its national unity.
'We were able to contain the strike and arrest deterioration... we have now started our counter-offensive, regaining the initiative and striking back,' he said.
But his upbeat assessment came as reports suggested ISIS militants had captured three-quarters of Iraq's largest oil terminal in Baiji after a day of heavy fighting at gates defended by elite troops.
Insurgents are also thought to have kidnapped at least 100 foreign workers across the country during their week-long offensive. There have been no reports so far to suggest that British nationals are among them.

Hillary Clinton distances herself from Barack Obama over decision not to arm moderate Syrian rebels as neighboring Iraq deals with extremist spillover
Hillary Clinton has distanced herself from Barack Obama over the situation in Syria - saying she pushed to arm moderate Syrians, but was overruled by the President.
Mrs Clinton - a potential presidential candidate for 2016 - made her differences with Mr Obama clear.
But, though the suggestion was made, she did not go so far as to say whether different foreign policy could have prevented the rise of jihadist militants now causing chaos in Syria and Iraq.
In a TV interview she said: 'We pushed very hard. But as I say in my book, I believe that Harry Truman was right, the buck stops with the president'.

Landenberg Man Charged in Connection with Seven Bank Robberies
Wilmington – A joint investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Wilmington Office, Whitpain Township Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police has resulted in the arrest of a serial bank robber.
Joseph F. Mieluchowski, 43, of Landenberg, PA, surrendered to detectives at Troop 2 yesterday. Detectives had linked Mieluchowski to seven bank robberies:
PNC Bank, 3840 Kennett Pike, Greenville, June 4, 2009
PNC Bank, 5325A Limestone Road, Wilmington, September 4, 2009
Wilmington Trust, 151 Lantana Drive, Hockessin, January 11, 2010

WSFS Bank, 4401 Concord Pike, Wilmington, August 20, 2010
PNC Bank, 3840 Kennett Pike, Greenville, June 23, 2011
PNC Bank, 5325A Limestone Road, Wilmington, July 6, 2011.
In each of the robberies, Mieluchowski was armed with a handgun and demanded cash from several tellers. As the robberies continued, he became increasingly violent, often threatening bank customers.
Although this robbery trend ended in 2011, detectives continued to work vigorously to identify the suspect. After receiving a tip in late 2013, detectives were able to identify Mieluchowski and, on June 18, obtained a warrant of his arrest.
Mieluchowski was charged with sixteen counts of robbery first degree, two counts of attempted robbery first degree, one count of kidnapping second degree, eighteen counts of aggravated menacing, and seven counts of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. He was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute on $935,000 secured bail.

Drought Sends Prices of Meat, Fish, Eggs Skyrocketing to All-Time Highs
Prices for meat, poultry, fish and eggs across the nation shot up to all-time highs in May, according to a report released Tuesday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The price index for these items, which BLS has kept records of since 1967, "rose 1.4 percent in May after a 1.5 percent increase in April, with virtually all of its major components increasing," the agency said in a news release.
The rise was part of a broad trend among food prices -- bacon has risen sharply also in recent months, thanks to a virus that has killed millions of American pigs -- as five of the six major grocery store food group indexes also saw their prices jump in May. Only cereal and bakery products declined last month, falling 0.1 percent.

Dr. Oz scolded at hearing on weight loss scams
Dr Mehmet Oz today offered to help 'drain the swamp' of unscrupulous marketers using his name to peddle so-called miracle pills and cure-alls to millions of Americans desperate to lose weight.
Appearing before the Senate's consumer protection panel, Oz was scolded by Chairman Claire McCaskill for claims he made about weight-loss aids on his TV show, 'The Dr. Oz Show'.
Oz, a cardiothoracic surgeon, acknowledged that his language about green coffee and other supplements has been 'flowery' and promised to publish a list of specific products he thinks can help America shed pounds and get healthy - beyond eating less and moving more.
On his show, he never endorsed specific companies or brands but more generally praised some supplements as fat busters, including green coffee extract, raspberry ketone and garcinia cambogia.

Obama: ‘I Don’t Need Permission From Congress to Go to War in Iraq -Again’
President Barack Obama recently told Congressional leaders that he doesn’t need lawmakers’ approval for any action in Iraq, the top Senate Republican says.
Senator Mitch McConnell was speaking after a meeting between the president and senior members of Congress.
Iraq has asked for US air strikes against advancing jihadist militants, who have seized key cities and towns.
But correspondents say any decision on military support from Washington could hinge on political changes in Iraq.
US Vice-President Joe Biden discussed possible “additional measures” that could help “roll back the terrorists’ advances” with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki on Wednesday, but also the need for national unity.
The Obama administration has shown signs of frustration with Mr Maliki – a Shia Muslim who has long been accused of discriminating against the Sunni Arab minority community and monopolising power.
Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel told a congressional hearing: “This current government in Iraq has never fulfilled the commitments it made to bring a unity government together with the Sunnis, the Kurds, and the Shia.”

'Fed Is Going to Give Us a Financial Accident'
The Federal Reserve's continuation of a highly accommodative monetary policy, even as it tapers its quantitative easing, spells trouble for the economy and financial markets, says James Grant, editor of Grant's Interest Rate Observer.
While the Fed is likely to announce another reduction in its bond purchases Wednesday, many economists expect the central bank to keep short-term interest rates near zero until at least mid-2015. And Fed officials indicate they won't trim the central bank's $4.3 trillion balance sheet quickly.
The Federal is "pouring fire [on the] glowing embers of inflation," Grant told CNBC.

Mathias, McDermott Eye General
Four years after winning a closely contested race for the Maryland State Senate, Democratic incumbent Jim Mathias could face another stiff challenge in Republican Mike McDermott.
Mathias won election to the senate in 2010 by a razor-thin margin of just 640 votes over Carousel Resort Hotel General Manager Michael James.
In McDermott, the senator will face a well-organized candidate whose credits include the Maryland House of Delegates, mayor of Pocomoke City and chair of the Worcester County state delegation. Mathias, himself a former mayor of Ocean City and member of the Maryland House, had a similar background when he was elected to the senate four years ago.

Democrats Want Crisis at Border
Hillary Clinton's comment that the United States should expel the illegal immigrant children now surging across the border is unlikely to boost her popularity, says Washington Times columnist Charles Hurt.
"She's not going to win the Democratic nomination talking like that, that's for sure," Hurt told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.
"It is across-the-board agreed that those are future voters for the Democratic Party and Democratic politicians will do anything to convert as many of them as possible to U.S. citizens," he said Wednesday.
"This would certainly give some indication that it really is possible that she has no idea what she's going to do and will curtail her support significantly if she tries to separate herself from the rest of the party on immigration.''

Fire the Worst Teachers
A four-word plan to fix America’s public schools
A California judge recently ruled that the state’s tenure, dismissal, and layoff rules for public-school teachers lead to “grossly ineffective teachers” being retained in the classroom, producing instruction so inadequate for poor and minority students as to be considered unconstitutional. Los Angeles County judge Rolf M. Treu’s ruling surely will be contested, and it is an open question how constitutional equal-protection clauses should be applied to school-personnel issues. But the ruling does raise important questions regarding the role that the firing of teachers should play in improving public education.
It’s been 30 years since the landmark report “A Nation at Risk” highlighted the dire state of America’s public schools. Since that time, education has undergone a series of supposed reforms, including massively increased spending, smaller classrooms, and higher pay for teachers with accreditation or master’s degrees. The number of students is barely greater today than it was in 1983, but there’s been a 57 percent increase in the number of school employees and a 40 percent rise in real per-employee compensation. The list of smaller-scale reforms would cover pages.

OMalley scores "0" in PA presidential poll
Raleigh, N.C. – In PPP’s newest poll, Hillary Clinton dominates the Democratic field in Pennsylvania despite Joe Biden’s native son status, while Chris Christie leads his fellow potential Republican candidates.
Among potential 2016 Democratic presidential candidates, Clinton picks up a staggering 65% of the vote. The next closest is Pennsylvania’s own Joe Biden, who fails to even hit double digits in his home state. Farther down the line are Andrew Cuomo and Elizabeth Warren with 5% each.
On the Republican side of things, the story couldn’t be any more different, as five separate candidates pick up 10% or more of the primary vote. Pennsylvania’s former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, however, was not one of those five. Chris Christie leads all potential candidates with 23%, followed by Mike Huckabee at 14%, Rand Paul at 12%, and Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz tied at 10% each. Much of Christie’s lead comes from those identifying as moderate and somewhat conservative.

OCEAN CITY — A 17-year-old male drowned in the ocean at 92ndStreet last Friday afternoon, marking the second time in less than two weeks a teen visiting the resort was lost in the sea and the first time in seven years a swimmer drowned while lifeguards were on duty.
Around 2 p.m. last Friday, an unidentified 17-year-old male got caught in a rip current just off the beach at 92nd Street and quickly became submerged in the water. An Ocean City Beach Patrol Surf Rescue Technician (SRT) was the first to enter the water in search of the missing swimmer and was soon joined by multiple public safety entities.
The water rescue included roughly 30 rescue swimmers from the OCBP, the Ocean City Fire Department, the Ocean City Police Department, the Coast Guard and the DNR, who walked arm-in-arm searching in vain for the distressed swimmer. A Maryland State Police helicopter joined the search from the air and a single-engine aircraft participating in the Ocean City Air Show also offered assistance in the air during the search.

Enjoy a safe July 4th: Leave fireworks to the professionals!
Consumer fireworks caused nearly 9,000 injuries in 2012
June 17, 2014 Fireworks represent a hallmark of July 4th celebrations, but consumer fireworks are extremely dangerous, causing thousands of injuries and fires each year. Thats why the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), coordinator of the Alliance to Stop Consumer Fireworks, urges the public to only attend professional fireworks displays put on by trained professionals. Visit www.nfpa.org/fireworks for the report, videos and safety tips.
Each Fourth of July season, we see tragic accidents and an uptick in fires caused by consumer fireworks, said Lorraine Carli, NFPAs vice president of Outreach and Advocacy. Even sparklers, which are often thought of as harmless enough for children to hold, burn at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit and can cause significant injuries.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commissions (CPSC) 2012 Fireworks Annual Report, U.S. hospital emergency rooms saw an estimated 8,700 people for fireworks-related injuries in 2012. In the month around July 4th, almost three out of five (57 percent) of the fireworks injuries were burns, while almost one-fifth (18 percent) were contusions or lacerations. Sparklers, fountains and novelties alone accounted for one-quarter (25 percent) of the emergency room fireworks injuries.
Young people pay a particularly high price for fireworks. During the same July period, the risk of injury was highest among those ages 15-24, followed by children under 10. Three out of ten people (30 percent) injured by fireworks were under the age of 15. Males accounted for three-quarters (74 percent) of the injuries overall.
On Independence Day in a typical year, fireworks account for two out of five of all reported U.S. fires, more than any other cause of fire. In 2011, fireworks caused an estimated 17,800 reported fires resulting in 40 civilian injuries and $32 million in direct property damage. The vast majority of injuries occur without a fire starting.
Knowing the harm fireworks inflict each year, particularly on young people, we urge everyone to leave fireworks to the professionals, who are trained to safely put on spectacular displays. It is by far the safest way to enjoy them, said Carli.

Liver Disease Epidemic: Are You at Risk?
A new health epidemic is sweeping the country, and doctors warn it poses a grave threat to millions of Americans.
The number of people suffering from nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is skyrocketing, and experts believe that the consumption of high fructose corn syrup may be fueling the crisis.
Over the past two decades, the incidence of fatty liver disease – also called nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) – has doubled. In advanced cases, a liver transplant is a patient's only hope.

Arpaio: ‘Border Patrol Is Too Busy Changing Diapers’ To Go After Illegal Immigrants
MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. (CBS Las Vegas/AP) — Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says the Border Patrol is too busy babysitting to actually do their jobs.
“The Border Patrol is too busy changing diapers and not going after dope peddlers and illegal immigrants,” Arpaio told Fox News Monday night.
More than 47,000 mostly Central American unaccompanied children have been caught illegally crossing the Mexican border into Texas since October. That’s left border agents in Texas overwhelmed and unable to process so many children. Within the last week, more than 1,000 of them have been transferred to a warehouse in Nogales, Ariz., where they are being processed before being sent to shelters in various states and then reunited with family members.
Arpaio believes President Barack Obama knew this influx of illegal immigrants was going to happen in an effort to push forward immigration reform.
