Back in October, the National Rifle Association stated the following about then GOP-gubernatorial candidate Larry Hogan (emphasis added):
The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse Larry Hogan for Governor of Maryland.
This endorsement is based on Hogan’s support for and commitment to the Second Amendment. Larry Hogan respects the rule of law and the Second Amendment rights of Maryland’s law-abiding citizens. In sharp contrast, his opponent, Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, is a true enemy of gun owners’ rights. Brown has earned an “F” rating for his consistent anti-gun record. Brown and his running mate Ken Ulman have aggressively attacked the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Marylanders and continue to voice their support for the failed and flawed “Firearms Safety Act of 2013,” the most sweeping and offensive gun ban in Maryland history, which does nothing to address violent crime.
Well, it appears that the NRA may have been overstating Hogan’s commitment to the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners as Hogan’s administration once again said that the governor-elect will not attempt to repeal the “Firearms Safety Act of 2013.”

Umm...we didn't elect the guy King. He can't repeal anything - only the legislature can do that. And most of those folks are the same as they were last year.
ReplyDeleteHe has too many Democrats in his Office....not enough votes...
ReplyDeleteHow can he? The legislature would never vote to repeal. Hogan has to deal with reality.
ReplyDeleteHe can at least try. It's one of the most important issues to many Marylanders. It's very disappointing for him to not at least try. That's the problem with Republicans, they sound good when they are running but when they get elected they act like Democrats. He needs to get rid of the flush tax also, it's a total waste of money,
ReplyDeleteAs Hogan said, he can't to it all at once. Things need to be prioritized. I would like tax relief first. Give the man a chance people.
ReplyDeletetime to wake up people if you feel the need to protect yourself carry I call it the second amendment.
ReplyDeleteHey Idiot -
ReplyDeleteOnly the General Assembly could repeal that or any other Maryland statute.

I agree, he needs to at least try. O'Malley is Lame Duck and so is Brown Nose. There are some Democrats who believe in gun owner rights.
After all he was elected by people who thought he was going to at least attempt to repeal it.
Like anyone else, Hogan needs to use his time on things he CAN do, and not waste it on things he CAN'T do.If you are all so passionate about doing something to repeal it, start the petition drive for Referendum now. You only have two years to the next election to get it done.
ReplyDeletePeople are so disgusted with the liberal junk that they have had enough. They want it out of their lives. It is not just guns. It's all the environmental items, the outrageous taxes, the out of control welfare, the Redskins name, the CIA disclosures, Al Sharpton with his "blacks will behave if you pay us more," the IRS, the total withdrawal from Iraq, torture?, amnesty. Anytime conservatives perceive any backing off and compromising with the libs, those on the right flip out. They are ventilating. Chill.

ReplyDeleteI wish our republican congress members kept this in mind as they try to repeal obamacare for the thousandth time! They just CAN'T DO IT!
