Less than 24 hours before today's final meeting of the current County Council and Rick Pollitt’s last as the County Executive, an agenda had not been published on the website or elsewhere. Now it is proclaimed that the matters before the Council, at Pollitt’s request, will include a bevy of bond authorizations, totaling about $16 million and including: 5.7 million for the Bennett Middle School, 1.25 million for planning for a new West Salisbury School, almost 4 million to buy the State's Attorney's Building and over 2.5 million to repair and improve Perdue Stadium and the Civic Center.
We understand that an effort to have these postponed to a later date in order to allow for informed public comment has been rejected – apparently by both Mr. Pollitt and Matt Holloway.
States attorneys building should be paid for by the......"STATE"!
ReplyDeleteArent there laws to keep these horse thieves in check?!?!
ReplyDeleteAnd not crap for the west side of wicomico county, you watch, they are going to close Mardela to raise the GPA of the failing city schools
ReplyDeleteSpend spend spend....thanks Matt Holloway for helping the gubmint to continue to milk me dry, the bottom line is Matt, I voted for you and Cannon because Laura Mitchell was worse, do you two GET that? Quit buying your votes with MY money!
ReplyDeleteI told you they tell you what you want to hear to ONLY get elected and you dumb ass clowns fall for it every single damn time... Every single damn time...
ReplyDeleteIf they close Mardela I will sell my house and leave this county. I don't want my children some thuggy ghetto Salisbury school.
ReplyDeletePollitt & Matt Holloway = Obama & Reid!
ReplyDeleteOne of the things we need to petition the governor for is a change in the constitution - like they just had a referendum on for the replacement of absent county executives.....
ReplyDeleteVoter recall!
After a RINO stunt like this - right after the elections...when the citizens voices were clearly and loudly proclaimed....we should be able to recall someone that clearly deceived the voting public...although there were signs.
As stated earlier, some of these were 'hold-your-nose' / 'a-little-better-than-Laura-Mitchell' kind of decisions. Some of the scum that actually run (and win) in these elections amaze me!
I checked the County's website virtually all day yesterday and there was no County Council Agenda and Briefing Book for today's County Council meeting. The County did not post the Agenda nor the Briefing book until late yesterday afternoon or last night.
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to be reprimanded for this - ASAP!!!
Where is The Daily Times, Where is WBOC, Where is WMDT, WHERE IN THE HELL IS THE REST OF THE FREE PRESS!!!!
Who hold the purse strings? There must be something else that can be done. Announce an immediate or asap county wide meeting with the citizens and let them know what's going on here. Just get out there and do it. Expose this NOW.
ReplyDeleteAll of the previous comments are right on! Holloway and Pollitt are "Grubertizing" us. They must think Wicomico voters are stupid.
ReplyDeleteMany have already seen through M. Holloway, but we are hoping Culver will hold him in check.
$4,000,000 for the State's Attorney building....seems this amount is about TWICE its value.
Who did the appraisal.
The right thing to do would be let the new council and executive address this spending, and provide open hearings on same. This is the way an open, honest government should function.
WHAT DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOR!!!!
I also checked the County's website yesterday and the only County Council Agenda, and, Briefing book was dated October 21st, 2014.
ReplyDeleteTalk about lack of transparency - what gives? Especially when it involves the voting on a 16.5 million dollar Bonding Bill.
Rick Pollitt, you are one classless act and Matt Holloway you are not far behind. You both should be ashamed of the games you play. You are such a very poor loser Rick - just go home and suck your thumb and pout. The new County Executive and council should be addressing all this spending, not either of you, especially you Pollitt.
ReplyDeleteBonding is the normal course of business in any government. These issues have been discussed at length with the entire Council on multiple occasions. To suggest that this just "popped up" is a lie.
ReplyDelete10:09 AM - BS !!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo, what happened at the meeting this morning????
ReplyDelete$4,000,000 for the states attorney building, yet the old firehouse sold for only $75,000? Good common sense would dictate that the new states attorney building should have been the old firehouse. Yet another case of bending the taxpayers over for a good reaming!
ReplyDelete8:11 Oh yea Mardela is a Palace with all good kids! Can you say San Domingo! Talk about a Ghetto!
ReplyDeleteGillis owns the new states attorney office building. Does that tell you anything? They'll have the votes with Prettyman, Hall, Sample/Hughes and Matt Holloway.
ReplyDeleteMatt Holloway must have gotten cold (or maybe it was hot) feet -- he pulled the bond items from the agenda at the start of the meeting -- and Sheree Sample-Hughes went ballistic and went after him tooth & nail over that.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see her gone from the Council, but she will still be a bigger troublemaker in Annapolis that Cane ever was.
Why can't the existing West Salisbury School be renovated just like Wi-Hi was. We can't afford any more Taj Mahal palaces for schools.
ReplyDelete4:03 -- Good riddance about her and Prettyman too.
ReplyDelete4:03 - I wished I could have voted to prevent her "promotion" too - unfortunately, I live in a slightly better place than what she will represent!
ReplyDeleteI have a question. New councilman Ernie Davis is a Wicomico County School bus contractor. He gets a check twice a month from school board which is an entity of Wicomico County. He will vote on budgets pertaining to school board which pays his salary. How is this not a conflict ?
ReplyDeleteI think Culver is stuck with the States Attorney deal. They are in the building and have been. It was a lease/purchase or something like that to keep their buddy Palmer from incurring too much capital gains tax. THAT is the kind of shady dealings that we voted out with Pollitt. The problem is MHolloway and Hall are still there and now there is Cannon. Culver will have his hands full with those back-stabbers. As Governor Elect Hogan has said about the state, it is in much worse financial shape than publicized and you can't fix overnight what the Dems took years to do. Culver is in the same situation. He will do the best he can to stop/cut what he can, but he can't undo some of it. The public needs to hold MHolloway and Hall accountable for supporting the tax and spend Dems. THANK GOD Prettyman is gone. She needs to leave town and never come back.

I agree, the school doesn't need to be replaced, it needs to be renovated. It is cheaper to renovate than it is to replace. The new council needs to vote this down.

That is exactly what they want to do. The want to do away with Wicomico Middle School and ship those Church Street thugs and thugettes to Pittsville and the new Bennett Middle School
They are so pompous to say that the old Wi Middle will become a swing school. In other words they are confident that a new school will be built after they replace the West Salisbury School. While the school is being torn down they will move the students to Wi Middle every 2 years. If one is not being replaced or rebuilt Wi Middle will stay vacant.
Silly people here commenting. You all don't even know what you are speaking about. I get a kick out of your comments.Do any of you ever watch the council meetings at all?
ReplyDeleteNotice how Obama reacted to the mid terms by doing nothing different and possibly getting even worse. On a much smaller and local scale this is no different. It's almost as if they're getting even with us.The saving grace is that even those who voted FOR them have to deal with the crap.
ReplyDeleteI have known John Hall for years and thought he was a stand up man. The more I talk with him I come to the conclusion he is a TURD. He follows the others around to see what the think/due then he follows them. He can't think on his own. TURD
ReplyDeleteRick if you're wondering why you lost, stop and think about all the stupid things you've done. P card, mackes out of control and not listening to your citizens.
ReplyDeleteJohn Cannon as President and Matt Holloway as Vice President? Who lost their mind on this one?
