Station 2 was just dispatched for a "non breathing subject" at Salisbury Nursing home. When the ambulance responded they requested the "ALS engine" from Station 16. The fire engine from Station 16 responded then the engine from Station 2 responded. Now they have an ambulance and 2 fire engines for a non breathing subject at Salisbury Nursing Home. The engine from Station 2 beat the engine from Station 16 by several minutes. More than likely the person went to the nursing home to die.
ReplyDeleteAn ambulance with paid a paid paramedic and a paid fireman, a fire engine with volunteer firemen and an fire engine with paid firemen. What is wrong with this picture?
Nothing.
ReplyDeleteThe 2 fire engines are for traffic control, 152, because once there's an ambulance and 2 fire engines in that lot, traffic becomes a real problem and must be controlled by professionals! You know, professionals like 359, who was probably one of the fire engine drivers.

LMAO... Only in Salisbury! Do you all still have that real fat guy that told everyone he wouldn't take the Chief's job if they offered it to him and then cried when the mayor turned is application down?
The Duty Engine from 16 was requested by the Paramedic on the ambulance. Station 2 has failed to make a response on so many calls this week that the ambulance cant depend on them. If that's your relative in need of help would you blame him ? Wake up and realize there is a problem with Volunteer responses. its not what you think is. If you want to complain about something why don't you start with the question "Where's The Volunteers At" ? The paid men ain't stopping them.
ReplyDelete2 times today the Volunteers at Sta. 2 have failed to get out in 5 minutes!!!! The paid crew has to sit and wait the full 5 minutes, before they can respond. Delayed service and wasted tax dollars!! 1/3 of the fire district get responses in less than 90 seconds while people pay the same taxes get delayed responses. That's the problem that needs to be addressed!!

ReplyDeleteYou are a damn liar. I hear how many times they call the fire department for calls. Of course it will take longer for the volunteers to get out. They have to drive to the fire department. They HAVE JOBS and lives. You can't expect them to sit at the department all day long and wait for a call. The volunteers still don't drive all over hell and creation wasting gas and trying to justify their jobs. Maybe the volunteers would spend more time at the fire department if you paid firemen weren't such buttholes.
Not a liar, just the facts. Sure they have jobs and lives, I don't expect them to sit at the station all day. Just realize that you get what you pay for, sometimes that may be a fast response, other times they may fail to respond. Are you a gambler? I am, but not with lives, property, and the environment.
ReplyDeleteSO 8:40 do you live in city limits? I bet you don't. Would you be ok with the county hiring fulltime firement for all departments in the county? Of course you have to realize that your taxes will be going up to pay for people to sit on their butt.....in case there is a fire call. So how much are you willing to pay each year for all the departments to have paid firemen?
ReplyDeleteI don't live in the City. I do live in the County. I'd be willing to pay whatever price to know that my local fire department is adequately staffed and help is on the way quickly, if needed. Could we have one or two stations on each side of Salisbury? Sure, not the 4 that we currently have on each side and give $$ to for a duplication of services. You want a problem? Why don't the volunteer stations in the County piggyback and work together on equipment purchases? We have a duplication of equipment and apparatus throughout the County. That is wasting my tax dollars. Not paying for somebody to be in a station 24/7. There is more to the firefighting business, than the calls.
ReplyDelete10:05 So if it so important why haven't you gone before the county coucil and suggested this?
