Days after a Howard County student unfurled a Confederate flag at a football game, two high school students showed up at Glenelg High School on Wednesday with Confederate flags draped over their shoulders.
Rebecca Amani-Dove, a Howard schools spokeswoman, said the students displayed the flags on school property before the opening bell and were immediately told to remove them.
“They were asked to put them away, and they did,” Amani-Dove said. “It has been calm at the school.”

“Public displays of the Confederate Flag evoke division, hate and subjugation — precisely the opposite of the values we hold in Howard County, and in Maryland,” Howard County Executive Ken Ulman (D) posted on his Facebook page.
ReplyDeleteKen Ulman is obviously and idiot and doesn't know American History. I hope this causes him his next election.
“We must teach our kids why this is such a hurtful symbol to so many people."
ReplyDeleteThis idiot want to teach hate? He is provoking hating. If someone doesn't know it is hurtful then why do Democrats feel the need to say it is hateful. Democrats are such idiots. Next thing you know we will be burning the American Flag and flying the new Obama flag instead.
It represents States' Rights vs. Big Federal Government
ReplyDeleteWhat they don't understand is that public speaking by Sharpton, Jackson, and other race-baiters evoke the same division, hate, and subjugation!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know the true history of this flag?. It was originally used on the battle field and it had nothing to do with scaring people. These kids dont know the history so they are clueless. Maryland was never a confederate state so the flag is not needed. Flying the flag of the side that lost the battle just shows the lack of thought.

ReplyDeleteSuspend them!
Sounds disrespectful to the flag.
What is not taught in schools is the truth. the 3 most infamous slave ships were built in Boston. They sold slaves to the south for tremendous profit.
ReplyDeleteWhen the South split from the North. Their Constitution specifically outlawed the importation of slaves.
What they do not teach is that President Jefferson Davis adopted a black child and raised this child as his Son.
What they do not teach is that this child Jim Limber attended white Southern Schools with the President's children.
Race hating uneducated morons use this flag because they themselves never bothered to learn the truth.
This flag was designed to prevent friendly fire from its own units. The first Southern flag resembled too closely the Northern Flag.

But that's Ok because blacks are immune from hate crimes and that is what they are pushing for. They are trying to make displaying or in possession of a Confederate Battle Flag a hate crime. They will do this for votes. The knock out game is a hate crime and it has happened hundreds of times since Obama has been in office. Not once have they considered it a hate crime. This thugs can even murder a baby by shooting her in the face and that is Ok. White people better wake up and quit defending the soft hearted liberals on this flag flap.
Be careful, the natives will get restless and have to go steal some tennis shoes, but work boots are safe.
ReplyDeleteAgain, handcuffs...me holding this flag.
ReplyDeleteIf they would teach history correctly most of you would know that this flag is one of many battle flags that the Confederate Army used during the 4 years they were at war.
First you must realize that there is more to the story than slaves.
They went to war in order to SUCCEED from the Union.
Slavery being a big part of it, but there were other important variables as well.
Protectionism
Free Soil
Succession
It is even stated in a lot of history books of my time (80-90's) that Native Americans owned slaves...
Wrap your head around that fact.
So, in closing to say this flag represents hate is ridiculous.
This flag represented to many of a FREEDOM to do what there states say they can, not what a state 100's of miles away tell them to do.
I have a Bonnie Blu replica, bc to me that represents the beginning of something in our history. The star and bars is just one of many flags.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Sad stuff isn't taught anymore.
This is the same school that held a few minutes of silence for the thug shot in Fergusson, yet won't allow NRA Tee shirts or confederate flag clothing.
ReplyDelete5:00 I would love to know your source for that information. I found nothing when I searched for that.
