JUST IN: Prosecutor: White House Intruder Had 800 Rounds Of Ammo, Machete In Car

A federal prosecutor said Monday that the intruder who evaded Secret Service and bolted into the White House on Friday had 800 rounds of ammunition and various weapons -- including a machete -- in his vehicle.

Prosecutor David Mudd revealed the new details about the high-profile security breach during an initial court appearance on Monday in Washington, D.C. At the hearing, suspect Omar J. Gonzalez, a 42-year-old Army veteran, was deemed a flight risk and ordered to be detained until his next hearing, set for Oct. 1.

At the court appearance, Mudd said Gonzalez had the hundreds of rounds of ammunition in his car, in addition to two hatchets and a machete. He called the intruder a danger to the president.

  4. ".. 800 rounds of ammunition and various weapons -- including a machete -- in his vehicle."
When were machetes or hatchets reclassified as strictly weapons? I, like most people, think they are both tools. They only become weapons when used as such however, lying benignly in a locked trunk they are still tools, for crying out loud.
800 rounds of ammunition is yet another stretch in proof of guilt. I, myself, have considered buying ammo and using it as a bartering agent. Is that illegal? Is it illegal to carry 800 rounds of ammo in your trunk now? Only in the eyes of some traitorous liberal I'll judge.
I do have to agree that this fellow seems a bit of a nutcase and allegedly committed a crime but, to use such circumstantial evidence to convict the man in the press is leftist and liberal Democratic hogwash.

  6. This makes no sense. Was he going to go back to his car for them? This reeks of a false flag.

  10. Was it a fully automatic machete, or just a single shot?

Carrying tools and wealth is not a crime. He jumped the fence and entered a house without permission.

Trespassing at best. But, we needed the sensational headline...

  11. Cheeze! I've got over 2,000 rounds here at the range! Soooo, what? Bought it legally, have the knife tool on my belt, a machete in the garage. I've also got legally owned guns (OMG) in my HOUSE!

    AND THERE ARE CHILDREN PRESENT!

(who are trained to shoot your arse if you invade their territory).

Then there's the Axe and the hatchet....

  12. We need to do something about this new class of hand held bladed assault weapons. With things like a lanyard, nylon sheaths, saw blade edge and protective hilts they are nothing but killing machines. I dream of a world were these dangerous weapons are not easy to obtain.

And bullets, even without a gun very, very dangerous. They could spontaneously go off killing hundreds.

I am so terrified that this could happen anywhere. ANYWHERE PEOPLE. We must do something.

  14. As you can see from most of the comments, only the police and their ever-scared buddies think that what the guy has in his car was a 'danger".
They whip up fear frenzy and exaggerate or escalate everything they can to justify MORE surveillance, more laws, more punishment, and of course, more fear.
That guy had about as much of a chance of getting to the president, or anyone else in the White House (the MOST highly guarded building on the planet) as Stephen Hawking would have swimming across the Atlantic.
But they have to make sure he sounds REALLY dangerous......
