Incident: Fugitive

Narrative: On 20 August 2014 at 4:33 PM a deputy arrested Mindy Smith on an outstanding Circuit Court Bench Warrant that was issued after she failed to appear for a jury trial in a CDS Distribution case.

Following arrest, Smith was detained without bond in the Detention Center pending an initial appearance in front of a Circuit Court Judge.  

Charges: Failure to Appear

Narrative: On 20 August 2014 at 11:00 PM a deputy stopped a vehicle operated by Daniel Johnson for an equipment violation. During the stop, the deputy discovered that the registration on Johnson’s vehicle had been suspended. The deputy also discovered three outstanding bench warrants for Johnson’s arrest for failing to appear for three separate driving suspended cases.

During the traffic stop, the deputy conducted a query on Johnson’s passenger, Faye Harrison, and learned that she was a wanted fugitive from the State of Delaware.

The deputy arrested both Johnson and Harrison and transported them to the Central Booking where they were both processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Johnson was detained on a bond of $40,000.00 while Harrison was detained without bond pending extradition back to Delaware.

Incident: Fugitive from the State of Florida

Date of Incident: 21 August 2014

Location: 9000 block of Ocean Highway, Delmar, MD

Suspect: Cordvan Xavier Redden, 29, Immokalee, FL

Narrative: On 21 August 2014 at 9:00 AM, a deputy responded to a hotel in the 9000 block of Ocean Highway in Delmar, MD and arrested Cordvan Redden, a wanted fugitive from the State of Florida. Officials from that state contacted the Sheriff’s Office after learning that Redden was at this location and requested his apprehension.

Redden was being sought on a warrant from Collier County, Florida that had been issued after he violated the terms of his probation following a conviction in a Cocaine Distribution case there.

Redden was charged as a fugitive from the State of Florida and is being held in the Detention Center without bond pending his extradition back to Florida.

Suspect: Kevin Maurice Franklin Sr., 28, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 21 August 2014 at 10:00 AM a deputy located and arrested Kevin Franklin on an outstanding Circuit Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Franklin violated the terms of his probation following his conviction in a CDS Possession case.

Franklin was detained without bond pending an appearance in front of a Circuit Court judge.

Incident: Assault 1st Degree

Date of Incident: 21 August 2014

Location: 100 block of SE Railroad Avenue, Hebron, MD

Suspect: Phillip Joseph Wooters, 20, Hebron, MD

Narrative: On 21 August 2014 at 10:00 AM a deputy arrested Phillip Wooters at the conclusion to the investigation of a serious assault reportedly perpetrated by Wooters. The investigation began two days prior when the deputy met with the victim of the reported assault at the hospital. According to the victim he came to the residence to speak with a female subject. It was during this encounter that Wooters punched the victim in the face without warning. According to the victim, he was knocked off the porch and onto the ground where he believed he lost consciousness.

The deputy was informed that the victim was suffering from severe facial injuries that included fractured bones that included the jaw.

Upon arrest, Wooters was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Wooters in the Detention Center in lieu of $20,000.00 bond.

Suspect: Lane Derek Stutzman, 33, Delmar, MD

Narrative: On 21 August 2014 at 3:15 PM a deputy arrested Lane Stutzman following a complaint that he committed an assault against a female subject inside a vehicle. In this incident, Stutzman stands accused of punching this female before throwing a lit cigarette at her. The victim complained of injury as a result of the assault.

Upon arrest Stutzman was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Stutzman in the Detention Center in lieu of $10,000.00 bond.

  5. This all started with the dummy down school system. Reach backward and pull the poor little children that don't have anything up. You might as well reached for a dead weight anchor because that is what you got. While we were busy reaching backward for the poor little creatures that no one cared about they pulled the whole system in a hole. I believe in helping children in need...and I don't have the answers to this mess...but I'm sick of the fact that it has ruined this whole country. If it walks like a duck....
