Wicomico County Executive Rick Pollitt and the Department of Public Works – Roads Division announce the beginning of Bituminous Surface Treatment (BST) road maintenance on Monday, August 25, 2014. The entire project is approximately 85 miles of road to which BST or chip seal will be applied.
Although basically the same as what many know as ‘Tar & Chip,’ this design is a higher quality version of that treatment intended to provide a uniform wearing surface and extend the life of roads.
A contract for this work was awarded to American Paving Fabrics. The contractors expect to complete up to three miles per day, weather permitting. The full list of roads can be found on the County’s website: http://www.wicomicocounty.org/533/Project-Roads-SummerFall-BST-List
Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Wicomico County DPW – Roads Division at 410-548-4872. Wicomico County reminds drivers to use caution and consider workers safety when driving through a construction zone.

Of course Pollit rd will be done, all if his family lives on that road!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I am not mistaken - I believe there is a State law that prohibits the use of 'Tar & Chip' on all County and & State Roads. I believe the Maryland Legislative House Bill banned it about 10 years ago. So did Wicomico get a waiver?
ReplyDeleteIDK, 8:54, I didn't get the Mimeograph! I'm with you, though, I thought that was ancient history. Maybe Pollitt's still watching B&W TV, but some of us have upgraded...
ReplyDeleteUse "Caution". Yellow sleepers spread out over county.
