On 08/05/2014 at approximately 1122 hours, Troopers from the Maryland State Police Easton Barrack responded to the area of MD Route 404 W/B, E of Holly Rd, Caroline County, MD regarding a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, Troopers secured the scene and gathered witness statements. The witnesses advised that a gray colored Honda Accord, operated by Scott Maisel, was traveling westbound on MD Route 404 in lane 1. There was an SHA dump truck parked in lane 1 with a properly illuminated traffic control device signaling other drivers to change to lane 2. Witnesses then stated that the Honda swerved to miss the rear of the SHA truck, left the roadway, travelled into the grassy median, and struck an SHA employee. The employee was identified as Theodore Manship, age 41, of Ridgely, MD. Manship sustained injuries as a result of the collision. He was flown to Baltimore’s Shock Trauma by Trooper 6. Maisel, the operator of the Honda, was not injured. The MSP CRASH Team was contacted for scene reconstruction. Charges against Maisel are pending a full investigation.
My prayers are with the SHA employee who was struck by this completely irresponsible driver.

ReplyDeleteThis is a press release from MSP. We don't title them just post them. I agree the title is confusing.
Praying for SHA employee. They do risk their lives each day when working on these jobs. Drivers must learn to slow down when approaching the work areas.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers go out to the Manship family. Rt 404 has become a race track. I think that speed cameras need to be put in place when workers are risking their lives to improve our roadways. Everyone needs to slow down and pay attention.
