OC Firefighter Responds To Viral Attack By The Media

Michael Maykrantz

The aggressive politically motivated efforts in the media to personally attack my integrity, and challenge my lifelong commitment to public service, shall not go unanswered. My actions on July 26th during the bridge failure, was to protect two pedestrians walking in traffic on Rt. 50 by removing them from harm’s way. My decision was warranted, necessary, and my duty as a Firefighter/Paramedic without discrimination. My dedication to the citizens of this community, and their safety, will not be suppressed.

  1. I'm sure you saved them. There was probably no way they would have made it without you. Maybe you deserve a raise?

  2. Wondering if you saw others walking during your travels that day.

  3. Hey Mike the fact that you proudly stand there in that picture with Norman Conway and Mike Farlow is enough to make me vote for your opponent. You are in the wrong party and if you don't have enough sense to realize that you don't have enough sense to make decisions with my tax dollars or my quality of life in Ocean City and Worcester County.

  4. WoW!!

You are my HERO! Picking up bikini clad chicks carrying alcohol while driving a city vehicle and your 2 partners told you know. That shows them who the boss is. You go my hero. I bet your wife is proud of you for picking up those chicks in bikinis.

  8. Let's set the record straight.
This did not happen in OC. The ambulance was stuck in traffic west of Herring Creek on Rt 50. The girls who were wearing shorts and shirts had been dropped off by friends to also stuck in traffic to get beer at a place near Jerry Mack Rd. When they came out traffic had moved and friends were gone.
They started calling friends in car no answer so started walking along shoulder-not a sidewalk.
Cars were bumper to bumper, some drivers irate and vehicles were using the shoulder where girls were walking.
Ambulance driver saw the potentially dangerous situation and picked them up. Friends returned their call and stopped their car at the Chamber of Commerce and waited for girls in ambulance to be dropped off.
I personally do not think there is anything particularly wrong with this. Pedestrians walking along the should of Rt 50 is always a dangerous accident waiting to happen situation.

    ReplyDelete
  9. So now the crew is to pick up everyone walking on the sidewalks as a safety and dedication to the community because it is dangerous. Yeah you got my vote.

    ReplyDelete
  10. The outrage is disproportionate to the offense. One would think he assaulted the girls and stole their beer if you read the comments.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Mike, if you really cared about these peoples' safety, you should have called for a fartruck to chase you during the rescue. We all know how dangerous sidewalks are when traffic is at a total standstill.

    What were you thinking?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Wasn't the sidewalk. It was the shoulder of RT 50, west of the Herring Creek bridge. At that point in time, due to the massive traffic backup, the shoulder was being used (unlawfully) as a third traffic lane by many angry impatient motorists.

  13. wish I knew what he was talking about

    ReplyDelete
  14. It's a coincidence that they were hot chicks in bikinis. Had there been a couple of large, fully clothed girls he would have picked them up too. You know, for their safety.

  15. I cannot believe Mr. Kranz duns a photo with Norman Conway. That personality projection alone is one that would steer me away from voting for Mr. Kranz and onto any other candidate.

    ReplyDelete
  16. They weren't in bathing suits. They were in shorts and shirts. If we are going to tell the story here at least tell it accurately.
I know exactly where it happened because I took the time to read ever bit of info available and on a good day it's an accident waiting to happen in that particular area of Route 50. As soon as driver's who are going to make that right onto Old Bridge cross over Herring Creek they move on the shoulder as if it's a lane. I've done it myself and have had to stop because of both peds and bikes walking on that particular shoulder.
I could care less what "protocol" is because the bridge being stuck created a situation where sometimes a judgment call must be made and protocol becomes insignificant.
There is plenty to bash MM on politically but running with a story that is so far from factual shows that his opposition is far far from honest. I can't vote for either candidate, but I elections were today and I could vote, I would probably vote for MM even though I on the record as saying I not voting democrat ever again and here's why-
I believe if BC had any integrity he would made a public attempt to set the record straight and correct the inaccuracies and urge people to look at the issues and not a story that so far has taken on a fairy tale existence with so much wrong info being disseminated.

  17. I wonder how Micky and Norm feel about this post with their picture. LOL They deserve it. It's all about Democrats in their minds so they should be photographed with this dude.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Agreed 7:40!
I think he potentially averted what could have been a tragedy. I wasn't on the road that day, but was on the phone with a friend stuck on 90 who was freaking out because cars were driving on the shoulder at high rates of speed.
It is my understanding that is what was happening on 50 so there was no where for walkers to be safe.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I wonder if Mike would have stopped to pick-up any others if they had not been attired in bikinis. I think not! Unions, Norman Conway, girls in bikinis, come on, I wasn't born yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Honestly, I at first thought this guy might have done the right thing but after seeing his picture with the other two posted on this site I now think he has poor judgement and probably deserves the discipline.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Why does everyone assume the worst? Reports said they had on clothes, not bikinis. Sounds like he did the decent thing given the dangerous situation. I'm sure if they were your daughters in that situation, you would want someone to pick them up. Better that it's an ambulance, than some pervert or serial killer looking for an opportunity. Or they could have been plowed over by one of those impatient drivers.

Second that. Don't even know the guy, but this is far from a big deal. It wasn't like a rogue Uber/taxi operation with an ambulance. Just kind of a neighborly thing to do.
If they'd had the girls hanging on the back of a firetruck, that'd be worth mentioning.

  25. 9:50 I think he deserves discipline for being a democrat as does anyone after seeing what a mess the democrat national politicians have made of this country, but I feel absolutely without any doubts that he did the right thing in this situation.

These oats have allready been thru the horse. This guy was amplifying his chances for a later chance sexual encounter with one possibly two unfamiliar
females and to bolster said chance the use of a City ambulance and uniform. In his little pea brain, he thought he could rationalize and justify this situation so the lights dim on his assinine antics while acting under the auspice of a paramedic. This is NO wise a professional endeavor and I fault the Town for not suspending him right away. He`s another predator whom the Town of Ocean City is both sponsoring and harboring. Number one, there was NO call for service, Two, the fact they were walking indicated no physical malady that needed medical treatment, Three, traffic related issues ARE NOT the business of thr EMS branch of public safety, and on and on. I`d have serious reservations concerning him treating ANY female not in the pulic eye at the time not in plain sight. The Town had better take a close look at this because somewhere down the road there is a lawsuit hiding in the shadows. Had this man been under me he would be relieved immediately.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The following is an excerpt from the DUVA Files - (Bill Duvall) from an SBYnews Previous Story

    FIREHOUSE FOLLIES: CHAPTER IV

Monday night was an historic occasion for Transchoptankia. For the first time in living memory, the advanced level of buffoonery came from the public protesters, rather than the governmental unit.

I refer of course to the efforts of the Firehouse No. 2 volunteers to force the City of Salisbury to cede control of fire and rescue operations to the likes of Harold "The Blade" Scott, John Bartkovich and Norman Conway.

The standard joke downtown is that The Blade is not physically fit to crush out a burning cigarette. Persons speculate as to the date when Conway last contributed anything positive to a fire suppression exercise. The same people speculate as to whether Bartkovitch ever made such a contribution.

These folks are, to put it as delicately as possible, over the hill. Financed by the County, they have launched a stream of lawsuits that have no discernible possibility of producing a result which will promote the public welfare. The Station No. 2 volunteer leadership wants to operate as a fifth column, ungovernable and uncontrollable.

  42. I still do not understand why Krantz would post a photo of himself with Norman Conway and Mike Farlow. And by doing so it appears that his actions were somehow justified by picturing himself side-by-side with these to political alliances. Surely, Krantz should realize that Norman Conway couldn't fight his way out of a fire even if there was an Ocean of water in front of him. This makes me really wonder about what makes Krantz tick.

This is the same kind of thing Beau Oglesby was subject to last election and some believe is what caused Joel Todd to lose.
I'm saying this because when I see hard core staunch republicans suddenly are liking Maykrantz's Facebook comments, that's a problem.
Enough is enough already. The bottom line is what happened happened. We can speculate on they why's forever which serves no purpose.

  45. Dear Mr. Maykrantz,
Woke up to this roasting this morning. Don't know you, but if you think somehow that posting a picture of yourself w/ Norm Conway, also known as 'pork belly norm' lib to the 10th power is gonna give you some type of street credibility, then you are badly mistaken. I guess you said, "I'll post a picture of myself w/ the Big Boys and that'll show them." You've done it now. Best of luck.

  54. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. I worked with Michael's mother Joyce for a few years at Hooties and she did the same thing. She would pick up the foreign girls she saw walking on route 50 coming back from Walmart and take them back to Ocean City. Myself and other coworkers would give her hell for picking up complete strangers and giving them rides. She used to say we sounded just like her kids and how if she heard of one of the kids getting hit by a car or murdered she couldn't live with herself for passing them by.

  55. I think the good people of Worcester county have been relieved of the con artist Conway due to redistricting.

    ReplyDelete
  56. To 5:00 PM Poster

Many people believe that Norman Conway knew that he wasn't popular from Worcester Co., and that is why he carved out the present District that he is in and therefore had his present District gerrymandered to skew the boundaries. I agree.

    ReplyDelete
  57. We all know you can't mingle character and politics, on that note Maykrantz wouldn't even beat Clinton. Let's talk issues. Fact, not one idea he proposes saves taxes or has been addressed as really needed. 2nd, he brags about his union affiliation, exactly what Worcester needs. Folks, mistakes were made with O'Mally and Obama, heck maybe Mike stands a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Krantz is running for one reason, expand the union to the County fire service. Anyone think different, simply ask him if he thinks the County would be better off. Then, ask him how its working in Ocean City. The paramedics would have the same retirement, drop, and pay as the police if not for this tramp chaser. How's it working for the tax payer, how about hundreds of thousands of dollars in negotiations, to get less. No-one wins.

    ReplyDelete
  59. 7:29,Some of what MM is touting must be resonating with the public because now BC is jumping on some of MM's ideas. Paid staff at West OC fire station is one.
The problem with a lot of the local Worcester county republican politicians is that are RINOs. The GOP voters are as well.
The whole OC mayor and council short of Mrs Pillas who is a registered independent are registered republicans. You'd never know it with the majority of them.
While Del McDermott is now state level he is the exception to the rule around here and stays consistently on the conservative platform, stands by his principles and isn't afraid to voice his opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Read Mike Maykrantz' own explanation, "maybe it was questionable", this is the way he would govern. By the seat of his pants, and how he could twist the truth. Election day can't come soon enough, he thinks he got thumped by Braniki, he hasn't seen anything yet.

  71. If we could go back in time and listen to our co-workers, and not our ego......hence, the butterfly effect begins.

    Butterfly effect:
In chaos theory, the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependency on initial conditions in which a small change at one place in a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state. A very small change in initial conditions had created a significantly different outcome.
