The Department of Justice has announced that it is suing the small town of St. Anthony, Minnesota, after a two-year investigation into the town's denial of a permit to create an Islamic cultural center.
The DOJ claims that the north Minneapolis town broke a federal law when it rejected the center in 2012.
"An injustice has been done," U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger said on August 27. "I will not stand by while any religious group is subject to unconstitutional treatment that violates federal civil rights laws."

The voters have every right to reject anything they wish in their town. A referendum vote is a legal.

DeleteReligious freedom is one thing if it's peaceful, but not for a religion that states if we're not of their religion, we're all infidels that must be killed!! That's more like hate crimes being taught. Just sayin'.

So after being turned down I could start a petition with enough signatures to force a referendum vote by the taxpayers. Sir, that is the way Democracy works. The local voters have the final say, period. I'm not anti-religion including Muslim. But I am all for local voters deciding what goes on in their communities. Is that too difficult to understand?

ReplyDeleteTo 4:07, typical liberal. You want the government to control what people do on their private property. As long as what people do there doesn't hurt you, you shouldn't get a say. It doesn't make it right just because a bunch of people agree they don't want you using your property in a certain way.
ReplyDeleteWe aren't a democracy. We are supposed to be a nation of limited government. Local voters shouldn't have the final say on a lot of things. Just because local voters want to steal my property, or stop me from worshiping my God, or take away my guns, they don't get to do that.
Beliefs like yours are dangerous and contrary to everything the Founding Fathers ever believed.
Firstly, Islam is no different than a dangerous cult like that of the branch davidians. There is a difference between religion and a perverted ideology masquerading as a bonafide religion.

Every Christian American should go to the store and buy a jar of Pickled Pig Feet, then take it to their towns local Masque and toss it on the front door! Then they will have to rear the whole thing down! This religion is a cult that preaches killing is the way to heaven!
