Over 19,000 Delaware families who use WIC benefits will soon have the convenience of electronic transfer cards for food shopping.
The Division of Public Health Women, Infants and Children, also known as the WIC program, Monday announced a grant of almost $700,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to implement an electric benefits transfer system for Delaware WIC families.
The cards will replace paper food checks or vouchers for food at authorized WIC grocery stores.
The system will be implemented over the next two years.
