Over 1 million food stamps distributed to dead people in Louisiana

LOUISIANA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - More than a million dollars in food stamps have been distributed to dead people in Louisiana according to a state audit.

The audit shows nearly 4,000 households received food stamps where the primary recipient was dead.

From July 2009 to June 2013 the amount of benefits sent to the deceased reached nearly $1.3-million.

Officials say it's hard to know exactly who was using the program's cards after the owners were dead.
