Petty Officer David Weydert with the U.S. Coast Guard told WAVY.com crews were responding to a report of a tractor-trailer that had gone off the bridge. Small response boats from both Little Creek and Cape Charles were responding to the scene as well as the Cutter Beluga and a helicopter from Elizabeth City.
Battalion Chief Amy Valdez with the Virginia Beach Fire Department confirmed the tractor-trailer did go off the bridge near mile-marker 15 and struck a light pole. The Navy, Coast Guard and Virginia Beach Fire and EMS are all on scene.

Naval Command forgot to request them during the initial dispatch. I hear they are on their way after reading the incident on Sbynews.com. They are self dispatching themselves on this call as we speak.
Front tire must of went out.
ReplyDelete@11:43 This is a serious matter, not a joke! Please be respectful, as the driver has most likely lost his/her life, and some family is now trying to deal with this.
ReplyDelete12:38, it is real hard to drive in a straight line on that stretch! Probably texting. There I said it!
ReplyDeleteFloating trailer equals empty trailer. Truck was blown off the bridge......
ReplyDeleteYour all inconsiderate morons the driver won't be going home to his family as he died in the truck.....so thankful I moved my family away from the shore. You people sicken me.

not necessarily
>>>so thankful I moved my family away from the shore. You people sicken me.<<< Get off your pedestal, 4:59. And please tell me where you moved where all the people are your intellectual equals? Where each and every person has the class and breeding that you deem appropriate? Comment-board jerks are everywhere. They are a product of internet anonymity, NOT the Eastern Shore. Frankly, I'm thankful you moved your family away from the shore, too.

If you are so sick of people from the shore then quit being nosy and stay off this blog. Mind your own business.
I can do what I please....I won't be bullied by some people who can't handle the truth....that man died today and who knows maybe he's from the shore or has family here. I hope all rot for your classless comments.
ReplyDeleteEmpty trailer + north bound =prob from here
ReplyDelete6:17 - I actually agree with your comments about the driver and the tasteless commentary by some. However, your snotty drivel about the shore and her residents was uncalled for. Jerks on the internet are not a local phenomenon. How you make that leap is beyond me. Also, you are no more happy than I am that you decided to leave the shore. One less arrogant windbag to deal with.
ReplyDeleteWell, if he is dead, than there is a job opening, so Obama can claim that he is creating jobs!
ReplyDeleteI'm extremely happy that I too have left the eastern shore. You people are so back woods and ignorant. I'm going to pray for the driver family.
ReplyDeleteI hear the Salisbury Fire Boat S.S. Hopeless is still circling the bay bridge searching for the wreck. Someone forgot to tell them it was in Cape Charles and not Kent Island. That's what happens when you self dispatch.
ReplyDeleteI remember when they self dispatched themselves to Louisiana after Katrina and continued to respond after they were told to turn around.

"the driver family"
Maybe you should have stayed in school and got an education.
Is the fire boat from Salisbury back from the mission yet?
ReplyDeleteIm glad you all left the shore too, but I really wish you would truly leave the shore and stop insulting your betters.
