Pier Cleanup In Ocean City
At least four pilings were broken off the eastern end of the Wicomico Street Pier yesterday from the rough surf associated with the latest winter storm. Crews representing the pier lease holder -- Bayshore Development -- are seen here cleaning up the debris this morning. A significant portion of the pier was rebuilt last year after Hurricane Sandy destroyed the same end of the structure. This most recent damage is not as widespread as that from late 2012, but considerable work will need to be done to shore it up in the coming months. Photos by Chris Parypa Photography

The old pier lasted years and years and years before a biblical storm took it out.
ReplyDeleteNow, the first medium-sized Nor'easter takes out the new section?
I think the company that did the repairs have some 'splainin' to do!
Actually I was there freezing my ass off when a boat slammed into it.Scared the heck out of me.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I don't believe that. For one no small boats would have been out and ships don't sail that close to the beach.
DeleteNo you weren't.
DeleteI'm with 1:06!
ReplyDeleteit was salisburys fire boat out praticing before hitting happy hour
ReplyDeleteI'm not.I've read the bible & that storm was not mentioned.
ReplyDeleteYou know somebody had to funnel some of the hurricane Sandy relief money to the political pimps. Oh boy, more free money.
ReplyDeleteI say let the thing go. I have warned people time and time again on this blog to stay out of OC. They will steal from you until you won't even have enough money to get yourself back over the drawbridge. Mark my words, the place is TABOO and I warn all citizens to stay clear of OC.
ReplyDeleteStupid to use wood, concrete is a whole lot stronger, but then, Ocean City could afford to build it out of good material, and still pay all those inflated wages for their useless cops!

ReplyDeleteUseless cops? Let me ask you: Would you rather walk about a mile down the boardwalk at 1AM in the morning during the height of the summer season, or walk just one BLOCK at 1AM in any neighborhood in Salisbury?
For that matter - pick one or the other - year 'round.
I say worthless cops, because of all the money laundering going on for terrorist groups, right under their noses! I mean come on, when a guy comes into town with a suitcase of cash to buy a boardwalk business and no one questions where it came from? Or how about when they make deposits in local banks for tens of thousands of dollars, yet an American owned business selling the same thing is barley getting by, that is stupid police work!
ReplyDeleteThen there is the blatant disregard of the rules, unauthorized signage, code violations, work being done without permits, and yet these criminal terrorists are allowed to continue to operate.
At least the New York cops got that one family of crooks that are doing business in OC.

ReplyDeleteDo you REALLY think that is was just a stroke of luck that he got busted for running smokes? Really? Don't be so naïve.
I remember back in Baltimore when a bar owner was arrested for having a Super Bowl "square-pool" for $5.00 a block in his bar - on super bowl Sunday, no less!. The community could not believe it. Arrested for gambling on Super Bowl Sunday?? You got to be kidding!!
Turns out he was laundering drug money. The investigation ran for over a year prior.
Running smokes? The "worthless cops" - and MANY people in the OC community - knew exactly what this guy and his family were up to.
The investigation - local, state, and federal, assured that he would be where he is today.
I would guess it was an app 40' steel hull boat.No engine running until AFTER the collision, which suggested to me that the occupants were either asleep when the incident occurred or drunk,or both. All white.
