  1. This is due to the national curriculum dumbing down all classes so no one student stands out. This might hurt feelings if didn't hold the achievers down,

  2. Maybe they are "graduating" but are they any smarter?

I understand that they are teaching the test, so it looks like they are smarter, but in reality many of them are still idiots ...

  3. Ask about the Bridge Projects that count in place of actual coursework. Who does them really? Are they at a level comparable to what a high school graduate should be expected to produce?

  5. Not everyone 'should' graduate!
Similarly, not everyone 'should' go to college!

It lessens the value of the degree.
    It wastes money.
It makes those that should not have completed (but did - by new requirements) feel entitled to something they have not earned...

  6. I'd reserve the word 'plummet' for something larger than 1.5%, state of education in such a state. Seen a written piece of work from an average high school student lately?

If it were the other way around, and 1.5% more didn't graduate, would you use the word 'explode'?

    Don't confuse quantity with quality.
