The chicken industry is very powerful, look how they got the new Phosphorous regulations knocked down, and they along with the farmers continue to pollute and poison the water and air!
5:20, cool down. That piece of shilegislation was meant to wipe out the industry as soon as possible. Read it before commenting. Better yet, come up with a better idea.
As for the wannabe thug that made the comment, oooooohhhhh! We're all skeert! Joe didn't make the video, he just found it and ran it up the flagpole to see who would salute and who would call it what it is! You can't bust the messenger in the mouth, dumbass.
Some lady in Pocomoke got her contract cancelled because she let a movie film crew in her chicken house. The movie is called Food INC. You would think if this was such a righteous company they would welcome film crews into their operations at any time? Sounds to me like they are themselves ashamed of what they produce and how they produce it.
Joe, don't buy this load of crap. This person is not an employee of Perdue. They are probably with Peta or the Bay foundation. This is a classic example of false flag propaganda attempting to demonize Perdue.
Perdue is overwhelmed with MOSH regulations, as well as EPA, DNR and all the rest. That's why there's a guard shack at the entrance. You don't get in unless you agree to obey the rules and are banned once you do not.
It's an honorable company and does your chicken murdering for you, so you don't have to do it yourself! Cheer up, and eat more chicken, The cows are behind you!
Nothing but excuses 6:16! There are plenty of chicken farms nationwide in which you can tour, where not only the chickens are hatched and raised but slaughtered and available for purchase. Try again.
anonymous 6:51, Not true. There are strict contracts now assuring no one enters these houses because of the outbreak a few years ago that wiped out hundreds of thousands of chickens.
As someone who works there, I can say that it's decent workplace, and pays better than 99% of every other job around these parts. For that, I am grateful and THANKFUL.
To all the naysayers, please keep in mind the economic impact Perdue has on the Eastern Shore, It keeps many of us employed in decent, honest work. Take a good look around and think about what other jobs are around town, and you'll come to the realization that the chicken industry is a cornerstone of Delmarva.
To ever have it leave here would not only devastate myself financially, but many other good people that I (don't) call friends, nearly enough. Good company, Great People.
anonymous 7:55, and just what does that have to do with the threat? I've never suggested Perdue shut down and I would HOPE you don't think I have the power to do such a thing.
Nothing whatsoever, Joe. I have no axe to grind with Salisbury News, or yourself -- and have no reason to believe you want to do anything other than to help save our dying local economy from the doomed path it's been following as of late.
The post caught my eye, and I Just wanted to remind people that we have very few good jobs on the shore, and show my personal appreciation to the one that happens to keep a roof over my head.
PETA: People Eating Tasty Animals this group is made up of wacko extremists just like tree huggers and global warming nuts.
In the past I worked in the industry and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt the Perdue Operation is one of the cleanest I have ever seen and I've seen them all across the country.
The company has integrity and tries hard to take care of it's employees. The production facilities are very clean and they try very hard to make a "better bird". That would include healthy, tasty and a great product for the consumers.
Tyson just had ANOTHER recall. This is unheard of with Perdue.
I pray they remain in our county and on the Delmarva Peninsula...
7:55 is spot on! The Perdue's were here longer than 2/3 rd's probably of the commenters posting here. The poultry industry is very competitive and allowing film crews in and out of facilities opens the equipment and practices to viewers associated with the competition. So if you contract with any company you must operate by their rules OR hopefully you can raise another companies birds. If you want to watch film go to DPI web site.
8:31 No way. It's about bio security. I don't run a large operation, but I raise my own meat (all types). If you wander into my yard, without notice, there will be problems for you. The threat of outside pathogens entering a farm/chicken house is real, and I don't want it on my property.
So, with that in mind, why would anyone want random people trudging through their farm, filming or otherwise? They don't, and everyone should respect that, as they are producing food for masses.
8:58-No one said anything about wandering onto a farm without notice. I will tell you though unequivocally that there are on site farm stores where during normal operating hours you can not only purchase their meats but also take a tour of the operation, including butchering facilities. Fauquier County VA is dotted with these ventures. Look up Ayrshire Farm in Upperville VA for an example. At the end of your touring you can also taste some of the animals you just got done visiting!
Many times in the past the farmers asked "visitors" to wear "shoe protectors". Of course this was to try to protect the farm from pathogens and viruses. I hope they still do this because it just makes common sense. In addition the vehicles had to park a certain distance from the main part of the farm.
Yes it is, what do you think is in those chicken tenders? It ain't all chicken!
ReplyDeleteanonymous 4:22, I'll tell you what's in them, chicken sh!t. Notice his comment/threat is "anonymous"

ReplyDeleteYeah probably, I heard ole Frank tried to get Paul Castellano to bust up the unions in VA

ReplyDeletewhat a bunch of low info bottom dwellers
Love how you all bust on Perdue while jamming bbq wings down your gullets
of course that's what you freaky libz do when you don't have a clue...make stuff up
just keep buying your food at the grocery store, that way you can be assured no animals were harmed
do those of us a favor that work in the food industry... choke yourselves

Yeah, keep the chicken on the shelf, and try not to get the bird flu or the cancer

Nonsense, 8:31. Film crews of the sort usually end up being propaganda tools for those with an (anti-meat in this case) agenda.

if you knew what was just in the feed you would stop eating the chicken companies chicken and go to an organic farm for your food.
ReplyDeleteYou people don't get it. The Chesapeake Bay is dead. Ask yourself, Why?
