Small children would find driving thru the Christmas lights wonderful. Their delight would be infectious. Little impresses an old hard heart or allows them to show a little respect for those who have gone out of their way to show the spirit of Christmas for others. Merry Christmas to all.
First of all, the lights are spread out over 2 miles, if you condensed it into a distance like what is in O.C. it would certainly look a little different. Secondly, this show is put together by a fantastic family and a lot of the proceeds go to local schools. Thirdly, it is only the second year, I am sure it will get bigger every year, but I think they are off to a good start. If you don't like it, stay home and don't ruin it for other people.
I was there with my family last year and it was a big disappointment to try and keep you there all day for some silly prize at the end of the day 90% of the people don't wait around
I think you missed the boat on this one.. for a nominal fee you get a display of lights and displays (no, it may not be a New York City display) but it is fun... plus there are several family-friendly activities, games and contest inside at Santa's Village... get in the Christmas spirit... plus, if I recall the literature, the proceeds go to help local charities... well worth $5.00
Sadly, it is pitiful. Last year it was $15 for a carload, and this year it is $5 per person (6 and up). It's not worth EITHER price. Great idea, terrible execution. Don't waste your gas or your time going.
If you want to see a great display, Take RT 50 east and when you get to McDonalds/MVA make a left. Follow that road about 300 yards, on the right the homeowners have their garage set up like '50's era gas station, with retro signs like coke etc.
They do an awesome light display for Christmas and between that and the nostalgic looking set with the garage is one of the best displays that I have seen around. Period.
I was in Ocean City last night and I was impressed how Ocean City had large lighted Christmas trees lining every street and every block. Simply beautiful and amazing. Ocean City is a much nicer place than Salisbury ever will be.
Agree with great idea terrible execution.Prize drawings are definitely intended for friends or family setting this deal up ...you have to hang out there all night to win.No thank you ...I'll pass.
Pretty strong accusation to call someone a thief. I have known Charlie and his wife for decades and they are both fantastic human beings with hearts of gold. Btw, it is Delmar...not Delamar, and if you are going to put something like that out there, you should put your name down. Pretty smart not to because I wouldn't mind meeting you and putting your teeth down your throat.
So just go to Ocean City and see the lights where they keep all of your money. At Decorating Delmarva, the money raised goes back to community charities, schools, police depts etc. That's right. spend your money where the city government keeps it instead of spending it where the money helps. And just so you know, the viewer that taped this DID NOT say not to go. He is an avid supporter of this event because I know him personally!
For all if you out there that think you can just go on here and blast a person for trying to do something good for a community and to give another option for kids to enjoy, you should be ashamed! This event in its 1st year paid $46000 of "all that money" that Charlie pocketed back to local groups! We are only in our 2nd year and when we, like Ocean City have been around for 20 plus years, we will have more to see. Many of you complaining probably never went to Ocean City its first 2 to 5 years. But, you go ahead and give them your money that benefits only the city. We are at least trying to give back to our community! There just is no pleasing everyone. And as far as the person who went so far as to come in and pay to VIDEO the show, that is pathetic! I stand proudly beside my husband that has given 3 years of his time to put together the concept and his initiative to follow through with the event after a tremendous price tag. I am appalled that those individuals with the strong words only go as anonymous!! If you feel you were cheated, please come back to me to refund your entry fee. Hurt and disappointed in this community...Denise Cathell
Here's how I see it. Fortunately someone put up this video so we can see what the thing looks lie. It seems pretty clear to me it is not worth the kind of money they are charging this year. My main interest is spending our money wisely to entertain our children and I really don't care where the money goes as long as they are entertained. I'll go to Ocean City. Thank you.
Mark & Denise Keep your head up and be proud of who you are and what you are doing. The negative scrooges on here are probably the same people that complain about the Salvation Army having to many kettles out there raising money. I admire you both for not only putting this event together, but reaching into your own pocket to do it, not to mention giving the local schools a chance to make some extra money by participating and at the end of the event donating to the many charities you do. Keep your head held up high because the ones that do the least are always the biggest negative talkers. Thanks for Decorating Delmarva and we enjoy watching it grow. Mark G
Merry Christmas everyone and have a wonderful and HAPPY new year , it is our Saviors birthday , or have you forgot. The lights were wonderful and full of joy and happiness.
It is private because someone sent it in and it wasnt their video. It was mine and it was shot as a promotional video to promote the event. I am a proud supporter of the event and did not want my video being shown with such negative and hateful comments
Those that criticize this event because "it did not entertain or Ocean City is much better.." are the typical "it's all for me" types. Why don't you entertain yourselves and children with thoughts of giving to others less fortunate...giving (read sacrifice) from your own pockets and not others' (read GOVERNMENT). Without apologies to the Politically Correct, merry Christams to all sponsors and promoters of the Christmas Light event!
The same people who get on here and say "Christmas is the Season for giving" are the same people who want tons for their money without giving a thought as to who the money is helping. The displays are not designed to be like OC. The whole idea is for community organizations to build their own displays as a way to earn money. If there are no displays there, is is pretty obvious that they would rather beg people for money instead of trying to EARN it while at the same time celebrate the season. And to the person who stole the video and passed it off as yours with your crappy comments...you're lame. What else can be said?
anonymous 9:49, I have stayed away from commenting on this Post but I need to remind you, (and others) that no one stole any video.
The video was publicly available on YouTube for all to see. Mind you, I personally had no idea that the video was presented by someone other then the person who sent it to me in the first place but nevertheless it is/was a public video and no one stole anything.
Wow what a shame.

Dude! Where did you learn to write currency? Did you sleep during that class?
It's $20 not 20$. By the way that looks stupid.
