REISTERSTOWN, MD – As part of the O’Malley-Brown Administration’s commitment to homeland security, Governor Martin O’Malley issued an Executive Order to adopt the Maryland Emergency Preparedness Program (MEPP). The MEPP is the overarching platform to ensure a consistent and comprehensive approach to preparedness.
The Executive Order outlines the roles and responsibilities related to the four mission areas used for measuring preparedness -- prevention and protection, hazard mitigation, incident response and disaster recovery. The Order is part of the Administration’s ongoing efforts to improve our State's ability to withstand adverse conditions, both natural and man-made. Under the Executive Order, the Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), Maryland State Police, and other state agencies are charged with fulfilling the activities that support those four core mission areas.
“Our most solemn obligation as public servants is to ensure the safety of our people. Over the last several years, winter blizzards, Hurricanes Irene and Sandy and the derecho storms have given us many opportunities to learn new lessons in safety and preparedness,” said Governor O’Malley. “Building on those lessons, this new program will help to improve preparedness among individuals, businesses and governments throughout Maryland.”
MEMA is coordinating the new efforts with other state agencies, local partners and the private sector.
“Traditionally, state emergency management agency plans focus on roles and responsibilities during the response phase of an emergency – providing help for local governments and their first responders,” saidMEMA Director Ken Mallette. “Now, we will develop robust plans to deal with those other mission areas – recovery, prevention and mitigation’ – so we will be better prepared to serve our residents.”

ReplyDeleteDear taxed enough already,
ReplyDeleteI understand your frustration with the amount of taxes that each taxpayer must pay every year. But, will you be the first one to complain to your elected officials when a natural disaster, god forbid strikes the community/neighborhood where you live and a response is delayed or doesn't respond promptly enough to suit you or your neighbors because supplies/equipment was not available at the state level?
MARTIAL LAW
ReplyDelete557, this is 509. You stupid, ignorant being. He is standing there charging you money for the rain that falls on your brainless head, has no clue how to treat it before it runs into the bay, yet you stand and applaud, and want to pay this man money you earned for no idea, machine, program, or blueprint that stops roof water from entering the bay without treatment.
ReplyDeleteSTOP AND THINK.
What represents the cause for a tax here? Did we all vote to build a machine? No.
Are you an idiot?, yes. Are you a Democrat?, yes.
Thank you for your participation in this survey.
This will help just like the quick responce they had with super storm sandy nice and quick
ReplyDeleteLOL 5:57 and if you think for one second any of this is going to improve response time when a disaster occurs then you are living in LaLa Land. FEMA/MEMA-all of these agencies need to be streamlined and the money given directly to individual states who then dole it out to counties/municipalities.
ReplyDeleteThe sole point of this is to create more government jobs which in turn creates more red tape and bureaucracy.
Ask Crisfield how all that tax money helped them clean up after Sandy. It took over a year to get thrown a few pennies. Yet 557 is giving Omalley a standing ovation.
ReplyDeleteDumb shoreneck (5:57). You need to learn how to wipe your own *as! That's the problem with this country now. Everybody thinks the gubment is our God. What they've become are thieves of our hard earned money. You need to toughen up, stick your head in the mud, and find some muskrats to feed your family. If you need anymore advice I'm here for ya.
