Bob Hitchcock is in his “least favorite place” these days — inside his landlocked Las Vegas home instead of at his cabin on the North Shore of Lake Mead, tooling around with old engines in his garage.
He’s one of an estimated 60 families with vacation homes along the lake who were given notice by the National Park Service earlier this week to gather their stuff and leave, according to Christie Vanover, a spokeswoman for the Lake Mead Recreational Area.
The homes — from Stewart’s Point on the north to Katherine’s Landing and Temple Bar on the south — sit on federal land.

Just what does this guy expect when he builds a home on property owned by someone else. I do not feel sorry for this idiot at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm more interested in how someone is allowed to build on federal land.
ReplyDeleteI see gutless anonymous has decided that a man who earned his home and built his home in a National Park is an idiot. Not that what is taking place is the fault of the tyranny being suffered at the hands of extreme Socialists like Obama and Reid. On the other side of the coin you have the leaders inside the National Park who refuse to stand up against this deliberate act by this Administration to make as many people suffer as possible. No rather then have common sense all Anonymous can do is do name calling!!!
ReplyDeletePerhaps the home was built BEFORE it was Federal Land. When the govt took over Assateague, the homeowners were allowed to use their houses but nothing would be supplied for them. Lake Mead recreation area isn't really that old.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that they can't be removed from their homes on the lake. In a shutdown you should be forewarned of any harm that might befall you because the feds (rangers, etc) won't be there in their usual capacity. Federal property is owned by the people, not government. They should be allowed entry to any federal property (so-called)at their own risk.
ReplyDeleteYou all are missing the point.
ReplyDeletethe point is obummer wants to try and make as many people suffer as he possibly can otherwise he don't get what him and the democrats want. f them and him and anyone who voted for this klown!
ReplyDeleteGood Grief, seeing the comments here and lack of understanding of how heinous an act this is disheartening.
ReplyDeleteIt's time for the sheriffs to step up and overrule these US gov't minions and intervene for these property owners as well as the businesses who are being held hostage by Obama. It is time to form posses and take back what this tyrant has stolen from Americans.
ReplyDeleteThis is like saying "Because the government is shut down, you can't use your own house that you paid for because it is next to a road you already paid for. Oh, and by the way, you can't use the road you already paid for either."
ReplyDeleteOUTRAGE!
