SF Bay Obamacare Victims: 'I Was Laughing at Boehner -- Until the Mail Came Today'

Sticker shock over Obamacare has arrived in San Francisco. Now that Obamacare exchanges are live (or are they?) people looking for health care are getting quite a surprise. And it's not just limited to those looking for exchanges, other people who already have health insurance are experiencing some eye opening.
Cindy Vinson and Tom Waschura are big believers in the Affordable Care Act. They vote independent and are proud to say they helped elect and re-elect President Barack Obama.

Yet, like many other Bay Area residents who pay for their own medical insurance, they were floored last week when they opened their bills: Their policies were being replaced with pricier plans that conform to all the requirements of the new health care law.

  2. Because she probably had a dirt cheap policy that really did not cover much. You get what you pay for is going to be the rule here.

  4. All I can tell you people is I am going to save about $300 bucks a year with the family option (Gold) I found in the Maryland exchange. I'm currently on Humana with the same options and deductibles. Going to the exchange.

  5. What's your deductible, Einstein?

  6. Did you check the "out of pocket" costs 1:02? These are after the deductible.
My private CareFirst policy even after it almost tripled so it "met the ACA requirements" is still less and less deductible than the platinum plan and boasts much better coverage.
Basically what you are paying for with the exchanges are a lot of fluff but no substance.
You are paying more or less to hear the bad news because all the focus is on pre-screenings. The devil is in the details when it comes to the treatment options which are limited as are the networks that accept the insurance.

  7. Good luck finding a doctor and getting treated in a timely manner 102.

There is much more in the ACA than healthcare.

Tons of sinister stuff hidden away in 4,000+ pages. Giving the government a lot more power than it already has.

obammy said today, it's not just about me, it's about my successors as well. He did not lie this time.

  8. One of the details to be aware of if you sign up, is that there is a yearly limit to the number of specialists it will pay for.
