CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — An unarmed man likely seeking help after a car crash over the weekend was shot 10 times by the Charlotte police officer who’s now charged in his death, investigators said Monday.
The release of the information supporting the voluntary manslaughter charge came at the end of a day that also included the first public remarks by victim Jonathan A. Ferrell’s family. A family attorney and representatives of the NAACP are already asking whether race played a role in the shooting of the black man by a white officer.
Ferrell’s family said the former Florida A&M University football player moved to Charlotte about a year ago to be with his fiancee and was working two jobs. He wanted to go back to school and eventually become an automotive engineer.

This was not a case of Voluntary manslaughter, it was murder in the first degree and the STUPID paranoid cop should be charged accordingly.

ReplyDeleteWhere is the NAACP every time a group of black thugs rape, murder and mutilate thousands of white people daily? Where are they?
This is nothing more than race baiting by the media and the weak leadership is charging the cop right away because they are scared.
I wonder what kind of drugs this thug was on. Why didn't he stop when was told to stop? Why didn't the taser stop him? That cop feared for his life and he did what he was trained to do. Let a big black college football player come at you nonstop and think about what you would do.
ReplyDelete2:50 you're assuming a lot there bud.
ReplyDeleteThe guy was in a car ACCIDENT. Who says the man was running at him full tilt and wouldn't stop?
The lying cop covering his butt.
It takes at least ten tries to find the brain.
ReplyDeleteThe cop DID NOT identify himself as a cop.
ReplyDeleteThe cop fired 12 times, hitting victim 10 times.
Which number of hit stopped the guy from running and the cop continued to fire?
The article says the cop attempted to stop him with a taser, it DID NOT say whether the taser found its mark.
If the cop did not identify himself as a cop, what proof is there that the victim knew or thought he was a cop and not someone trying to kill him?
How many, if any, shots were fired into the victim after he was on the ground? Unless he was superman and could take 10 hits and continue to run.
How many of you are aware this "cop" was an animal control officer before becoming a cop?
Why is deadly force used against an UNARMED person, and for merely running at that?
How long are some of you going to continue to allow rouge cops to kill innocent, or guilty for that matter, people with no real justification?
I know a certain percentage of you people don't care and even say, good job cop, simply because the victim was black.
No, that's not playing the race card. I believe it is true, and certain comments on here back that up.
Some are overly concerned about black thugs but totally ignore cop thugs.
There is so much wrong with the cop's story it could be a Saturday Night Live skit if it didn't end with a cop killing ANOTHER unarmed citizen. He showed up ready to kill. Probably because a white woman said said a black guy was in the neighborhood. A black man (with 2 jobs) has a car accident and when the police show up, he RUNS at them with clear malice. Its a wonder that the cop's story didn't include "he looked like he was reaching in his waistband for a weapon!". At least, not YET....Maybe this year, the police will publish the number of citizens THEY killed in the last year. Probably not....THAT figure would be waaaay too alarming.
