OH NO YOU DIDN'T!

NOT IN MY TOWN!

Mayor Ireton is furious over this business putting up signage against his demands telling them not to.

Yet its OK to have a xxx sex shop up the street? These back door policies are ridiculous. Look, YOU wouldn't have YOUR car parked out front of this business, would you? So what is everyone so worried about.

The Mayor himself has a unique lifestyle, so why is he such a hypocrite? Do as I say, not as I do.

  1. So when is the big 'Welcome to Salisbury Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting'???
    Bahahaha!

  2. I have to agree with you 100%. Jim Ireton(I refuse to call him Mayor) does have a unique lifestyle. As a matter of fact I am sure he has some of the same toys they will be selling.

You said back door. LOL. No pun intended.

  4. 10:22. That's hilarious!

  5. Maybe they will rebuild a newer hotel at the former hotel site to encourage Salisbury's No.1 industry for the newly created business district. My honest opinion - 'if the shoe fits why not wear it'

  6. At least it's a NEW business, isn't it? We NEED more new businesses...

  7. He called the owners Shysters on the news. If they carried garments in his size he'd have no problem with it!

  8. Jimmy's going to have a hard time thinking up a reason to deny this store a sign permit! After all, he sold them a business license!

  9. With the Red Light District being located there..and the xxx book store being near the hospital for all these years.. I guess we can look toward the downtown area being THE RED LIGHT DISTRICT. If you don't build something nice ..this is what happens... decay.

  10. He acted like a girl throwing a hissy fit on tv. swearing. If I was the owner of the business I wouldn't talk to him either with his attitude.

  11. 11:35, that's exactly what i said, the city sold them a business license and im sure put them through paying for whatever inspections/permits were needed and now they tell the owner they can't have a sign? i am thinking whoever owns this business has been through situations similar to this before and probably knows more about business and the law than our wacked out temper tantrum throwing mayor. get ready to pay out on another lawsuit salisbury tax payers.

  12. If he's serious, how about passing a law that no sex-shops are allowed in city limits including the other 2 not that far away. Then I would be impressed.

  13. The Ireton has given this business a fortune in free advertising.

  15. Why is this homo making such a big fuss about a damn sign. They are paying their taxes. I think it is great they went against the no good city council and Mayor and put the sign up.I think the Red Light District fits the business on that side of town well. They already have a sex shop sign that you can clearly see on Rt13.Just like Ireton to cry like a little girl when he doesn't get his way.

  16. He manufactures a problem and gets everyone fired u, then he comes in with a solution. If I recall correctly, zoning doesn't permit thst shop where it's located. That was passed several years ago. If it is allowed, then once again we paid Paul Wilber to do something that he didn't do right.

  17. We have something called a Constitution and the 14th Amendment calls for equal protection under the law. That means if this store is required to prove that less than 20% of their business is adult in nature then EVERY business in Salisbury is required to furnish the same proof. Has this been done? Yeah, right.

  18. The sign on the poll has been covered up by a blue tarp.
We just rode by the place.

  19. I couldn't help but notice that the Health Clinic located across from Burnett White is being renovated. I am glad that Salisbury is being pro-active by first facilitating a health care facility in trying to take care of the projected increase in business as a result of the new Red Light District.

Herpes simplex, Gonorreah, and Syphllis, and vaginal warts are among the many dreaded diseases caused by promiscuity.

  20. frankly this is the one thing i can agree with ireton... close this place and get it out of town or make it so that its contents cannot bee seen from the road and they have a name that has nothing to do with anything sexual..... it was a poor choice in even granting this kind of business in that area

  21. So glad there is FINALLY a store to shop for the underwear that's fun to wear! This place will do well there, as it's situated in the basic center of the proper neighborhood! Let's see, we have Milford Twilley Rentals, xxx, abandoned Shell, (you can always pick up a turtle or whore by the Shell) The bus station, vacant lots, abandoned buildings, and low end stores.

    Perfect fit.

Oh, I forgot to mention Baker Skreet a block away, bullet city of the newly renamed the Bury!

If there was ever a neighborhood ready for a store called the "Red Light District", this would be my choice as well!

May God bless them in their venture!

  22. I am pretty sure this isnt an adult book store. And what is it you people have a hang up about sex?? This establishment doesnt even have XXX anywhere. Lighten up and check it out. Maybe you will get some fun!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I just rode by the store earlier and the sign is down and covered with a blue tarp. I guess they chickened out and caved into the boy mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Years ago Bill, Joan Hoffmann and many others picketed the adult book store on 13 and I believe the city passed an ordinance regarding businesses such as this due to the persistence of the protestors. Ireton needs to look up that ordinance.

  25. Wonderful, now Salisbury has it's own version of "The Block". It won't be long before there are strip clubs up and down that section of Rt 13

    ReplyDelete
  26. Joe brings up a good point. Gays want us to accept their "unique" lifestyle but they do not want to be accepting of others.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well one thing about it the store isn't to far from the Far Stations so you know they well be spending some time there if it is going to be a strip club. That is what they spend their money on when they go on paid vacations at the tax payers expense.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @9:24, what in the world are you talking about? Pretty sure the Gay community is more accepting of others then most groups, especially religious groups.

  29. First I don't live in the city limits and would not know Ireton if I fell over him.
That being said, the constant attacking of this man's life style is ridiculous. If the residents of Salisbury would concentrate on the issues and not his personal life, perhaps, just maybe something would get done.

As for this sign, who cares, look at the area in which is in. It seems to fit right in with the rest of the surrounding blocks, with the exception of that furniture store.

    ReplyDelete
  30. That's pretty "Conservative" of you Mr. Mayor!

    ReplyDelete
  31. "Adult" stores were limited by zoning as far as the locations where they can operate several years ago. Nothing screams nasty city where no one wants to invest more than sex shops, money stores, and pawn shops. Sorry f this offends anyone, but read the national publications on planning and redevelopment. Set standards and stick to them. If this is Salisbury's new standard we are in a race to the bottom and might as well have left the Thrift Inn standing.

If you don't live in the city then you don't have a say in this matter. Crawl back under your rock.

  36. According to city attorney - the other 2 sex shops are grandfathered. Nothing can be done about them. They are protected.

I agree with you, but this isn't the standard in Salisbury. This is nothing but propaganda and a photo op for Jim Ireton. If he really wanted to shut down the sex shops he could find reasons to shut them down with other violations.

By the way if he fines this person/owner $500 per day it will not fly in court because there are no other business that have been fined $500 a day so a precedent has already been set. A judge will quickly throw this out of court just like they do to the many citations issued by NSCC.

Have you ever noticed Ireton bragging about how many citations that have been issued by NSCC, but nothing is ever mentioned about how many have been thrown out it court?

Besides, you know what they say about those who make homophobic remarks...

  42. I didn’t realize he was advertising a bussiness, I though he was just letting everyone one know what they already know,,,that area of town is a red light district.

  43. 9:18 They're right. Every single religious group has no acceptance towards anyone not in their cult. Muslim, christian, catholic, protestant, those witness people... all cult like in nature, and no acceptance towards people who don't follow their line. They're also the most hypocritical people in the world.
