News Around Salisbury 8-15-13

It's been an interesting week in news. Here's what I found most interesting so far.

WMDT sold their Station for $9,000,000.00. That should make Salisbury News worth at least $20,000,000.00.

Yesterday the news stations talked about someone being convicted for drugs. States Attorney Matt Maciarello was interviewed and told the world that the Sheriff's Department will receive all of the $500,000.00 collected in that arrest. Do tell me WHY they need speed cameras again?????? Oh, that's right, it's for the children.

CORRECTION, Maciarello actually told the Press the following: Wicomico County State's Attorney Matthew Maciarello says the money will go directly towards the Wicomico County Task Force, which is made up of several agencies, including the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, the Salisbury Police Department, the Fruitland Police Department, and Maryland State Police. They will divide the money up and use it for law enforcement purposes.

WBOC did a story the other day talking about the new water tower in Laurel. They actually flew their helicopter over the BARE location. Then they had a reporter on the ground covering this non story. Here's what was most interesting and I'm sure most of you missed it. They kept showing shots from Bargain Bills parking lot, yet they refused to show their sign or identify them in any way. However, they did conveniently mention, (while on Bargain Bills parking lot) that they were close to Johnny Janosik's, one of their advertisers.

Finally, how about the story about having to show your ID to purchase nail polish remover. Did you catch that story? Well, here's a thought for you. Will our government now make us show ID if we purchase CORN. After all, it can be used to manufacture moonshine.

  1. WMDT is featured on Ireton's new political website. It says it's the Salisbury city website. Pretty, but you can tell what it is really all about.

Any body else find it funny that downtown is using 'BURY to promote itself?

  2. Wboc should have stood in their advertisers parking lot instead. Maybe a day will come when non advertisers will tell the news people to get the hell off their real estate.

  3. What I'm against concerning purchasing ail polish remover at CVS. They scan your I.D. which will allow them to keep track of your purchases. Also, how CVS won't allow you to buy nail polish remover and cold medicine at the same time. I hope the other stores don't follow CVS.

  4. Problem is that nail polish contains acetone. Acetone is a necessary solvent for producing methamphetamine from cold medications containing pseudoephedrine (sudafed). Sudafed had to go back "behind the counter" due the the rampant misuse of the drug for illegal purposes. In any event, I'm happy to show my license to get Sudafed which I use regularly. If you're not abusing it or cooking it down to make meth, what's the big deal?

  5. Go to the hardware store or paint store, they have all the acetone you need, 55 gallon drum be enough?

  6. 10:35 The use of "'bury" is gay, which is kind of fitting since we're promoting arts down there.

WBOC sucks, they have a horrible broadcast signal and they haven't reported a significant news story in years. Hell, they're a day late on almost every single thing that happens around here.
