I just plain don't get it! This an easy intersection, yet I see so many completely misuse it!
ReplyDeleteLearn the words, "Acceleration Lane", people!
How about you be a little nicer when you post things. They were trying to cross the highway and it was a simple mistake. Instead of complaining about the intersection, pray for the families.
DeleteBlock off the cross over lane.
ReplyDeleteThat Royal Farms store should never have been built on that land. Good ole Boys at it again.

Gas tanks right over the Paleo Channel. That is your drinking water folks.
None the less thoughts and prayers to the people involved in the motor vehicle collision.
Problem is two or three cars try to cross at a time when there is a break in traffic leaving the last vehicle stuck in traffic... It's a stop sign.. One car at a time...
ReplyDeleteIt's an excellent location for sales. The fuel tanks are above ground to minimize the danger to the water Chanel, but the accidents will never stop unless they make no crossovers. And that will never happen as Royal Farms likes the east bound traffic to come j to the store.
ReplyDeleteYes, the fuel tanks are above ground, as you say, to MINIMIZE the danger to the water Chanel. Never should a gas station been built there. And, there was a fight to get the tanks above ground. They originally were scheduled to be underground. I think it was Phil Tilghman who got that changed.
ReplyDeleteClosing the cross over only hurts the people that pay attention. Even if it gets closed people will do like I have seen numerous time at the Shore Stop in Hebron. They ride down 50 backwards to get to the beginning of the markers to get in the turn lane.
ReplyDeleteWithout a cross over there the accidents will just move to the next intersection. There is a merge lane when crossing over to go 50 east but I dont see many people use it.
There are many intersections that police need to patrol and actually give tickets for those that dont follow the stop signs and pull out in front of each other.
The statement above that is complaining about the good ole boys and the gas tanks - Really the tanks are above ground and enclosed in a concrete area. There is less danger there of gas getting into the water than any facility that has underground tanks.
I'm surprised more police don't hang out at that location. They do still sell donuts?
ReplyDeleteOh they hang out there. Go by after it gets dark, you'll see what I mean. It doesn't surprise me that a PA tag was at fault, come to West OC and watch the idiots down here. May she rest in peace.
ReplyDeletePA tag or not. Older driver, busy highway, people driving too fast and small cars = fatal accidents. It is also a bad intersection because it is not designed for drivers that lack common sense and good judgement.
ReplyDeleteimpatience is the cause. that intersection is one of the best around here. IF used correctly. it's the drivers fault, not the roadway.
ReplyDeleteThe State needs to install a traffic light at that intersection. How many people have to get killed there before they do?
ReplyDeleteyour smart....a light as soon as you get off the by pass....
Delete7:53am - there is nothing wrong with the intersection, and no need for a light. Imagine the backups if one was put there coming off the bypass = more accidents.
ReplyDeleteEvery single accident there has been caused by driver negligence. Every one.
8:46am It is a dangerous intersection with people going & coming from Royal Farms. Stop making excuses. You must be a State Highway Roads employee. Put a damn light there before someone else gets killed.
ReplyDeleteFor the time being, traffic should only be allowed to make a right turn ONLY onto Rt. 50. They make everyone else in that 1 mile strip do the same and this intersection should be no exception whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteGet rid of crossover like everywhere else on 50!
ReplyDeletepennsylvania drivers + old drivers = get the hell out of the way and pray!
ReplyDeleteive lived in hebron all my life. ive seen the traffic. its tourists and idiots causing the accidents. two things we could use less of anyway.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother, but thanks for your lack of concern.
DeleteNow they are putting up a farmers market on the same corner. I agree...there needs to be a change. Right turns only would hurt local business to Royal Farms because I stop to pick up things on my way in town...but if it will stop one death....do it.
ReplyDeleteThe worst part about this accident is that the names were mistakenly mixed up by the police. This was an accident and just that. It had nothing to do with age. The driver was killed and thankfully nobody else. Please show respect to the family of the victim and stop placing blame on what was a terrible accident.
ReplyDeleteTwo Farms Dairy (Royal Farms & Cloverland Dairy) do as they wish. The management is quick to tell you Two Farms has one of the best legal teams in the country so they always get what they want regardless of how many lives it costs. They don't give a hoot how many people die leaving their stores as long as they made a purchase first.
