Maryland State Police are running radar on Rt. 50 just west of the MSP Barracks and Old Ocean City Blvd.
MSP had a vehicle pulled over in the shoulder of Rt. 50 when a motorcycle traveling around 80 mph attempted to pass the vehicles in front of him on the right hand shoulder of the road. He slammed into the rear end of the vehicle stopped by MSP.
His condition at this time is unknown. Aviation was not available so they transported him by ambulance to PRMC.
UPDATE From Home Invasion last night:
We were told the SWAT Team searched the home of the elderly woman who had major cuts but refused to go to the Hospital. They did not find anyone in the home. The woman claimed to have jumped out a window but Police did not find a single window broken in the home.
I hope the occupants of the vehicle that was on the shoulder are okay.
ReplyDeleteI wish these aggressive drivers/speeders would get a life. Must be horrible to have to be in such a hurry all the time but that's what happens when you make poor stupid life choices.
Sounds like the poor old lady is covering up for someone maybe because she's afraid. So many drugs in Berlin wouldn't surprise me if she wasn't beaten up by a relative over money for drugs.
ReplyDeleteThe state police sit there all the time. It was an accident waiting to happen. They walk out in front of cars and the cars further back can't see them come out but everyone just slams on the brakes. If they have cars pulled over on both sides of 50 you are required by law to slow down because of the move over law. Now you are breaking the law by going under the required speed limit. So which law do you follow? The move over law or the one where it says you are not suppose to impede traffic?
ReplyDeleteIt is so dangerous the way they do radar. It should be illegal. I came around the same corner last week and cars were dead stopped in middle of road. I hit my brakes and went from 55 to 0. I stopped 7 feet from car on front of me. And had to pull over as my fishing rods landed in my lap! The cops yelled at me until I showed them I had a dash cam and how they walked out on street with our a safety vest. I said to cops keep this stupid stuff up and someone who is going 70 won't be able to stop and someone will end up dead!
ReplyDeleteI said it. And now it has occurred because it is a stupid policy to do radar on both sides of the road on a blind corner.
Joe I am so glad you are not afraid to post this stuff. It is so because of this blog things like this will be forced to change. Thank you.
Dumb cops. On another note what ever happened to cop who shot the un armed guy in back of head in Somerset County.
ReplyDeleteIt is all about the money. They want to stop speeding. Make everyone take a 12 hour class and also fine them $1000. Guess what.... I won't speed anymore. Neither will anyone else.
ReplyDeleteIt took a State Trooper In NY to get KILLED this way before the idiots CHANGED the Policy.
ReplyDeleteDon't drive on the shoulder. Plain and simple. Not the police's fault for someone else's driving.
ReplyDelete12:25 most people don't have $1000 to spend on a speeding ticket. Also, there are people driving around with multiple DUIs and nothing is done about them. We need to enforce the bazillion stupid laws we already have. We don't need the one you suggested.
ReplyDeletei almost got into a crash there because the police doing radar. this is not safe for the public and the troopers should not be allowed to do radar there
ReplyDeleteJudges and prosecutors always agree with anything that law enforcement does, right or wrong, good or bad. The deal is done, your guilt is pre-guaranteed, before those defenseless lips of yours, ever make a single sound in the court room. The case was closed before you ever got there, they win, you lose. Sound familiar? It's cost me thousands of dollars to learn these simple facts but I'm passing my learned experiences/knowledge on to you for free.
DeleteI thought they changed the law so the police could NOT walk out into traffic like that. Maybe we should ticket them for jaywalking. They should use the crosswalks! lol
ReplyDeleteThe moron on the motorcycle attempted to pass a vehicle and did so using the shoulder. He is the only one at fault for speeding and using the shoulder to pass.
ReplyDeleteNow the moron's learned the hard way that showing off doesn't pay.
But then again to learn anything you have to have a brain and after hearing about this stunt it's debatable if he does have one.
If you do the speed limit, stay off the cell phones and can the road ahead of you, you will be prepared and see obstacles ahead of you.
ReplyDeleteI SAY HIT EM THEN THEY WILL GET THE POINT.
ReplyDeleteFYI-I was there. The bike was going a heck of a lot faster than 80.
ReplyDelete5:33 and 5:49 Well said. I support the police and their efforts to stop aggressive and speeding drivers with radar or other devices.
ReplyDeleteI agree 9:01. There is absolutely no reason why anyone ahould ever speed esp anything over 60-65. It's nothing more than an immature person who is showing off. If you are going to be late for something then either make better use of your time or be late but don't drive aggressively and put others in danger.
ReplyDeleteAny update on the motorcyclist's condition and his/her name? Would be hard to believe anyone survived.
ReplyDeleteThere is no blind corner at that location. They have been running radar there for years, only a moron would get caught there. They did stop running out in the road after a Trooper got his dumb ass killed a few years back, but they are back at it again. As to other drivers slamming on brakes.................can't fix stupid. The blind corner they have been working recently is the east bound left hand bend approaching Willards, not the best place unless they are trying to get run over. Just put a chase car down the road if you choose to not get killed that day.
ReplyDeleteonly a moron would get caught there.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't anyone type a comment without a slur, insult, a derogatory name, etc.?
Trying to put others down this way just makes yourself look bad.
And we already think poorly of you when you do it.
Hey 5:48..check your facts. It wasn't a TROOPER that was hit and killed...it was a Howard County officer. I don't know why I'm wasting my time with the FACTS...it's your story...tell it however you want so you can sound cool to your friends like you are "in the know". SMH.....
ReplyDeleteLook, I dont have a problem with radar or cops pulling speedsters over. What I have problem with is a cop's car instead of being on the shoulder, has the nose or half of the police car sticking out into the roadway. And to top it off I have seen one recently in the middle of the damn highway? What the H@#@? Do your job, but stop hogging the road!
ReplyDeleteOK, only a mentally challenged person would get caught there. And a Trooper told me the story about a Trooper getting killed running roadside speed enforcement. Feel better now?
ReplyDeletewent from 55 to 0? NO ONE goes 55 liar
ReplyDeleteregardless of how fast the motorcycle was going or if he was at fault, I have issues also with how and where the MSP do their radar traps on RT. 50. I drive 50 every day from Berlin to Salisbury. Sometimes on the way home, they have a speed trap set up just around a corner on 50. EVERYONE brakes excessively because there are cops in the road and pulled over cars everywhere. They ARE going to cause an accident (and speeding or negligence doesn't have to be involved), it's just a matter of time. They shouldn't be just around a corner. I'm telling you, it's so dangerous. I was thinking of stopping at the barracks and saying something. Apparently, the motorcycle in this instance was speeding and was being an idiot. But with regards to the scenario I've talked about, someone is going to get seriously hurt, if not killed, because of how and where these traps are setup. There should be more thought put into where they are, especially when traffic is heavy.
