Joe Just had an ambulance come up the road parked got out. They were geocashing in uniform and in a Salisbury Ambulance. On our dime.

ReplyDeleteShould they patrol and look for injured people? Some of these guys work 48 hr shifts. Should they be allowed to eat, or sleep?

ReplyDeleteWhy are the city's vehicles being used to play a game on the taxpayer's money? What is the fire chief doing? Isn't he suppose to be supervising this people? What a total waste of money and what a sham for the taxpayer. It certainly sounds like they don't need so many vehicles to play with.

ReplyDeleteGeocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which the participants use a GPS to seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", anywhere in the world.
A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook where the geocacher enters the date they found it and signs it with their established code name. After signing into the log, the cache must be placed back exactly where the person found it. Larger containers such as plastic storage containers (Tupperware or similar) can also contain items for trading, usually toys or trinkets of little value.
geocaching...you get coordinates from the internet and use a GPS to track down the treasure...once there you take the treasure and leave one of your own for the next guy...these are located all over the country...some easy to find and others not so easy...can't see where they would have time for this.
ReplyDeleteIf Ibrecall, this is a 5-7 million $ department. We built a commercial kitchen at taxpayer expense. Stay home and cut the grass,keep the building looking, do SOMETHING to show pride while waiting for a call.

ReplyDeletethey take timed rides all the time to calibrate what their gps tells them.
No surprise here have seen them using the same to open locked vehicles all over Salisbury, wasting gas, & and excessive man power. If they want to unlock vehicles wouldn't a car do the same thing?
ReplyDeleteThe true test is if they come when called. As most know they do and very quickly. The lives they save are countless. The old saying goes if it ain't broke don't fix it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they do this to see how fast they can find an obscure location. I've never heard of the game until this article, however I won't pass judgment either way, what someone see's as a game, may actually be an exercise in hunting a location of a stranded motorist. Some cars are now equipped to auto alert an accident to authorities by GPS in case the driver is unconscious.
