Protective Order Filed Against City Manager

OCEAN CITY -- Allegations that City Manager David Recor was suicidal and violent during a recent encounter with his wife were included in court documents filed this month.

On May 10, Maria Recor obtained a temporary protective order against her husband after an incident on May 5 in Fort Meyers, Fla., where the couple was with family for their daughter’s college graduation.

In her written petition for protection from her husband of 23 years, Maria Recor wrote, “On Sunday evening, May 5, David was angry and upset at me for not paying him enough attention. We were at a vacation house and he climbed to the roof top and was threatening to jump. I told him to come back over, his daughters could hear and see. I had hold of his arm, keeping him on the railing. He said you don’t love me and I said no I don’t. He swung at my face and hit me near the eye. He then came over the railing and pushed me violently to the ground twice, my head slamming into the ground. He then arrived to our home and took my car.”

City manager since June of last year, David Recor issued a statement this week after the court records were made public.

  1. Tough situations show you what type of person someone is. This guy is a complete Joke. You do not love me any more so I am going to kill my self. This guy has mental issues and may be unfit to manage OC. If I was the town of OC I would want to think twice about this guy.

    1. It's called the "Pity Poor Me" phase of a breakup. A Lot of self serving men go through it, yet they lack empathy for their mate/partner/wife. By now he's dropped the pity part and is on to the angry part, and will seek revenge, either by his own hand or through his lawyer. Everybody that knows this guy gives him a big thumbs down, so he's apparently a jerk, as he continues to prove.

  2. Power has a way of driving some people to their own self destruction. I deal with a lot of low level managers in the government and some of them have the attitude that they are special. In the real world based on merit and not just seniority, most of them would be Indians instead of chiefs.

  3. I wonder if he is going to apply for John Pick's job?

  4. Well folks I guess as they say the proof is in the pudding. Not many people in attendance at the Recor domestic violence protective hearing this morning in Snow Hill including Mr. and Mrs. Recor! This is all moot at this point it and is over at least as far as the court system is concerned. Enough is enough Mr. Christ let it go!

  7. recor, what a class act....NOT. he beats his wife and children and then takes his wife's car and leaves them stranded with no vehicle. he plays the woah is me routine when his wife leaves him the first time. guess we know why now. recor gets right on match.com, cause he needs to stroke his big ego and gets caught fooling around with a city employee from snatch.com. wife kicks him out and he is walking around with a black eye, wanting everyone to believe his wife did that to him. wanna bet his wife is right handed so if she had hit him, wouldn't his left eye black? not his right eye. does he really think people are that stupid?

  8. David is a complete fake. Simply check his entire background. With over 80 comments earlier, the only person to support him was the toothless wonders daughter, and immature blinded child that doesn't know any better.

  9. Why haven't we seen this on the Daily Disgrace's web pages? Why are they so eager to avoid these details?

  11. He did it, however his wife wasn't about to press the issue and have hime lose his job. Two girls in collage, and making $150k, nope, kick the big guy is one thing, bury the sugar daddy, thats another.

His wife wasn't about to press the issue? Have you been paying attention? Have you been following this case? She spilt the beans and she is done with him. Go crawl back under your liberal rock.

  13. she spilt the beans all right, now everyone knows his true character, not just the show he puts on.

  14. This is his real side. No surprie to those close to him, and a wake up call to the others in doubt. Davids all talk, no walk. Dennis worked the system for those he liked, David is just keeping his head above water, and has gone under a couple times. Slow death, if the silly council didn't feel sorry for him, he would be long gone.

  15. David needs to go back to Fla. Ocean City has real problems that need real leaders, not one's you can't trust! If there is one common theme among all that know him, his past, and his current troubles, that's it, he can't be trusted or believed.

  16. Who keeps electing these clowns in office. We should come up with a smell test they have to pass before they can run. Sounds like the clowns they have elected in Salisbury. This is a nationwide epidemic. I know the Ocean City elections were bought with the local FOP union and the fire department union. Big mistake!!

  17. David Recor is a bully, but be careful, not the typical stereotype. He's cunning, warm and will look you in the eyes, then bend you over like you have never seen. He comes to town with a big "strategic master plan" concept, a plan that works to give him the document to blame on everyone else, and lock himself in. He swears there really is an "I" in team.

  18. Kinda funny watching him walk around city hall sporting that shiner LOL. There is justice.

  19. Everyone conveniently has forgotten, there was one councilman that did his homework, and was opposed to this lying, thief, fake Recor. That was Doug Symeck. The majority at the time wasn't going to listen, and labeled Doug as out for anyone that fired Dare. In this case, Doug, with his investigative background, was right. Doug, we haven't forgot your efforts, now drive the final nail and push to not renew his contract.

  20. Cymeck was one of the two that walked out of the room and disgraced Hall Adkins, who should have had the job all along. This entire blunder was caused by egos, not making the decision best for the public. End of the story.

  21. What, fire this dufus that couldn't get a job at Wal Mart right now? NOT GONNA HAPPEN! He, like so many others has locked himself into a government job, regardless of how incompetent he is.

  22. Let the Mayor run it again, oh, thats right he alreay is.

  23. David, it's called KARMA!

  24. 1:00 He's only locked in until Rick says he's not. Right now, Rick doesn't want the job back, so unfortunately, your right. Although there is talk among a few about an interim City Manager, and that could be the answer. No-one can agree on the Police Chief or anything else yet.

  25. I think we should trade Recor for Tony Barrett, he was just before his time.

While I agree I disagree that Cymek and Knight "disgraced Hal Adkins." They disgraced themselves and haven't a fraction of the class Hal Adkins displayed after that episode.

  27. 5:57 Good point, so noted. Now lets see if they do the right thing, and appoint him now, so everyone can move on.

  28. As we are back to work this morning, still quiet at city hall. One comment, the mayor said the staff supports David, not hardly. He walks around here looking for pity, just like when he started. Come on boss, find us someone to look up to and admire, this guys as fake as the day is long.

  29. DITO 8:05 you don't have to like your boss, but you should have a boss can respect. no-one has respected or trusted David from the time he started.

  30. Rick won't let anything happen to his BFF.

  31. Recor will no doubt play the "poor pitful me" routine, look what she did to me, just like he did last August. He will look for mindless females who will fill sorry for him and think that they are landing a catch. By the sounds of it, his wife put up with alot of BS before she finally blew the whistle on him.
