So many parents have had to deal with this. Don't ever say it couldn't happen to your kid.
ReplyDeleteno surprise here
ReplyDeleteanonymous 9:25, I couldn't agree more. Prescription drugs have become an epidemic in the United States. It doesn't excuse the illegal activity and believe me, I pondered over if I should or shouldn't publish this information. I consulted with others who believed it should be mentioned.
ReplyDeletePerhaps Greg can teach others the severity of such additions and help others. You have to WANT to quit and better your life. I wish him the best.
I hear Laura has some issues too. Hope they get it together.
ReplyDeleteJoe you are correct and I am so concerned with this nation's propensity to drug children into submission starting in grade school. This leads to drug addiction. Parents are too trusting of the school system and the therapists and doctors who recommend mind altering drugs to their children. Parents need to remember these so called experts are not the expert of your child.
ReplyDeleteI am not one to fall for excuses and other evasion of responsibilty as to why someone becomes a drug abuser but what I mentioned is a big problem. Don't know if in this case it's relevant but parents do need to be reminded to question recommendations of these so called experts.
If it had been a relative of yours you can bet it would have been posted. On another blog.
ReplyDeleteI guess the proverbial apple didn't fall far from (and still resides at) the tree.
ReplyDeleteEven some of the best, most caring, sober parents have children that take this route. I'm sure it is one of the most painful things to witness and go through and Joe, you're right, the individual has to WANT to get out of the rutt. I don't think this should have been posted-it is in poor taste. There are other ways to exemplify the horrific effect of prescription drugs. Taking a young person who just got in trouble for their addiction and making it public more than likely isn't going to help the situation. I wish he and the family all the strength in the world to get through the troubling times.
ReplyDeleteLike they say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is their are many people running our cities, counties, states and this country that have criminal backgrounds and the majority of them are criminals with an entitlement mentality.
9:25 You are right. Our child was raised in a loving home. We have done everything in our power to keep her on the right path but drugs have total control. Our other children are healthy normal teens. Believe me, posting this only causes pain and embarrassment to the parent.
ReplyDeleteAs for those of you who feel this Post is in bad taste, YOU are the same people that ran to Jim Ireton's site during the election bashing me with lies on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteOnce you become a public figure you become accountable. Our job here at Salisbury News is to expose the TRUTH.
Your not going to like everything we publish, nor do you like everything the Daily Times and other local sources publish.
Heck, I remember not too long ago the Daily Times exposing a minor accident I had last year.
As far as the Son is concerned, LIBERALS always want things hidden, so the public doesn't know about it. This is a matter of public record. Besides, there's a LOT more to this story that will get exposed when the time is right. It information goes hand in hand with this Post.
There comes a time in life when we have to be accountable. Perhaps this will help wake every one up. Like I said earlier, you have to WANT it.
As I also said earlier, I wish this young man and his Family the very best. Once addicted, it can be very difficult to overcome.
I'll close with this. Laura Mitchell has given of her time and reputation to serve the citizens of Salisbury. Like her decisions or not, you have to respect what each and every Council Member has given. I believe the Judge will consider that in his/her decision today and that's a plus for Laura's Son. The young man has to understand and respect the Judge for their final decision. IF they see favorably in the young man's favor, I can only hope he knows the sacrifices his Mother has made to garnish such a decision.
When is the court date i would LOVE to go.
ReplyDeleteI am not familiar with all the court jargon. At the top listed under Document type: It says Warrant. Does this mean he didn't show up for his court case and there is a warrant out for him?
ReplyDeleteI'm nut convinced thataura gives much. She misses meetings, is unprepared, disruptive, and loves.to spend our money on meals and travel. That isn't the issue here as far as I can tell. There is a court proceeding today concerning her son and drugs. Counterfeit oxy Rx and similar drugs are a BIG problem here in Salisbury.

BINGO!!
I'm making copies, enlarging and framing these.Something unique for my man cave.I have photos of all high profile arrests, mug shots, and documents. Those who dare to enter are riveted to the walls for hours, presumably curious if they know any of the perps.
ReplyDeleteThis post is not in poor taste at all. Poor and bad taste is done by those who wish to keep hidden these things which is a form of enabling. Keeping things like this a secret is the major cause of why things in this country are out of control. People must be held accountable. I'm not saying to talk bad about this guy but by all means people do need to know he may have a drug problem which a lot of the times leads to stealing and other crimes.
ReplyDeleteIt's distressing to hear his young son may already be being drugged up with Adderall. Wouldn't not surprise me if Gregory wasn't drugged as a child also.
If this had been any other person other than a relative of any government personnel would they have had charges removed? I strongly doubt it.
ReplyDeleteYou want to do drugs? Great, then you do the time as well. Stop the enabling and start taking responsibility.
He received a $300.00 fine. If he had an attorney, that may have helped him.
ReplyDeleteThat is more than most first time offenders get when they appear in court. Most get placed in the The State's Attorneys First Time Offender Program to do community service.
Hopefully he gets community service as well. How would he get a plea deal if he had no lawyer?
ReplyDeleteThe post is not in poor taste. All it says it that an elected official's son has a drug court date. The fact a warrant had to be put out is worse, I think.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it's just a statement of fact. Draw your own conclusions.
He needs to go to jail with those type of charges. There are adults in jail for less.
ReplyDeleteLook at the address; we're paying their rent...Gov't. suckerfish and it's illegal and they should be removed from those apartments immediately and charged with the appropriate crime!
ReplyDeleteyes
DeleteOne of the reasons heroin is so abundant today is these young people first get addicted to the opiate prescription meds first. When that source runs out or is delayed they find out that heroin is available everyday and is much cheaper than the pills.
