Vice President Joe Biden wants pastors, rabbis and nuns to tell their flocks that enacting gun control is the moral thing to do. But another vote may have to wait until Congress wraps up work on an immigration overhaul.
Biden met for two-and-a-half hours Monday with more than a dozen leaders from various faith communities -- Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Sikh, to name a few. Both Biden and the faith leaders encouraged each other not to give up on what has been an arduous and thus far fruitless effort by Biden and President Barack Obama to pass new gun laws in the wake of December's schoolhouse shooting in Connecticut.
Around a large, circular table in a conference room on the White House grounds, Biden waxed optimistic about prospects for passing a bill, according to four participants who spoke to The Associated Press after the meeting. Biden's chief of staff, Bruce Reed, joined the group, as did a handful of Obama aides who work on faith-based outreach. The meeting closed with a meditation and a prayer for action.

for the guy who wants to do his best to keep church and state separate this is a change of pace, trying to use the church to do his dirty work. i think the clergy ought to tell him where he can stick his "moral argument"
ReplyDeleteAbortion is a moral argument but where's anybody on that?
ReplyDeleteMoral argument? This from a guy who has no morals?
ReplyDeleteOkay, Joe, let's get moral. the LORD marched His people out of oppression with signs so evident that every household in Egypt knew that He (and He alone) was leading that nation to freedom.
ReplyDeleteThe LORD zig-zagged his people around warring nations. He provided manna in the morning, quail in the evening, and water from a rock. He defeated Amalek’s army while Moses stood with his staff raised high.
On the journey between slavery and freedom God never left His people. He used that time to teach them exactly how He wanted them to live. He showed them his care and promised them victory.
Taking peoples' guns but letting the government and warring nations keep theirs would reverse our freedom back to slavery. So, in order to love His people, He would morally have to allow us to hold equal force up to our oppressors!
So, Joe, I'd have to give my congregation that sermon.
I thought that separation of church and state was in the Constitution? Democrats don't dive a damn about the Constitution.
ReplyDeleteFunny a evil doer asking the church for help...
ReplyDeleteThis guy is so messed up. Moment by moment he can't keep the stories straight. He is a sick, lying, cheat. The best that could happen is the lay leaders pray over him for our protection.
ReplyDeletePass any --- any -- law you want regarding gun control (or confiscation). Your BIG problem is gonna be getting them from gun owners. Not a single gun owner I know is going to placidly hand over ANY gun just because some sissy girlie boy politician TELLS him to....and pity the storm troopers who think will just roll up and start taking things from us. BIG mistake.
