The first two lines eludes to mathematical addition, but doesn't clearly say to add them together. Quote: you have 1,000, add 40 (to what?) and so on. And to just assume that the last line "and finally 10" means to add, is simply a presumption, not a statement as to add, subtract or do anything with the other numbers. There is no clear result, in my opinion, but if the moronics of this written by some simpleton, problem of addition?, then the answer would be 4100 (units of the unknown).
