Why Have Wine Tastings When There's Sequestration?
Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) is asking the Agriculture Department to explain. In a letter to Secretary Tom Vilsack, Coburn asks why USDA is sponsoring two events in California and Oregon wine country. He says they may be fun, interesting and even educational, but not a priority. USDA said it will furlough all employees, including food inspectors for up to two weeks. The food industry and powerful lawmakers fear that could slow down food production.
Sequestration may mainly be a tactic to prepare us mentally for future cuts. One small increment at a time is much easier to adjust to than all of it at once.
Because "sequestration" has been a "manufactured" scare tactic & is but a drop in the bucket were it not. No need to fear.
ReplyDeleteIt is part of the 'directive' to make it as bad as the administration said it would be.
ReplyDeleteLaying people off would really hurt employees...cancelling the wine tasting party would only hurt the politicians that sponsor it and get to go.....
