  3. I think you did an excellent job you have secured my vote since day one. Ireton can't run off a record. He has no record to start with. Campbell hit out of the ball park to. Conservatism is what Salisbury needs. Leaders that will stand up for us financially when our tax dollars are being wasted.Ireton,Day are dreamers with their illogical thinking. I think that the people that gave the award for all American city. He must have licked alot of boots to get that award. Under his administration I feel like we have been the "Worst American City" Ireton has been far from a leader. So he tears a few buildings down and plants a few flowers. Where are the good paying jobs? Why is our downtown only good for Lawyers and a court house? Why are the bridges closed at the city park? Why is the river still dirty? Why is robbery and theft gone up? Why so many houses for sale and rental units? What are you doing to attract business to Salisbury. Jim Ireton HAS NO RECORD.Welcome the new mayor.JOE Albero the real change.

  4. 9:50 Please grow up. There is no possible way the Jake Day represents the interests of the city homeowner. He has certainly bedazzled alot of people like magpies to shiny objects--but use some common sense, he is supported by all of the same old entities that have exploited Salisbury for personal gain at the expense of the "little guy", the actual homeowner who lives and resides in the city. It is unfathomable that you could advocate for Joe AND for Day--they represent complete opposite ideologies.

  5. Here's my take...Jake Day is an architect or aspiring one. They build monuments to themselves with other people's money. That;s what I saw from him tonight. All flash no substance. Campbell had both ideas and a balance of budgetary responsibility to the taxpayers. Also, the new city attorney may have cost $110,000, but the old one cost us $87 MILLION. Nice guy, no thanks. I'll vote Campbell.

  6. Done deal. Day and Albero.

  7. 11:33...You just don't get it.
Maybe you were not here during the 4/2 fight where the Slum Lords of Salisbury attempted to derail the goal of single family home ownership and allow single family homes to be turned into virtual dormitories. These are the same people backing Mr. Day. If you want rental housing to completely take over Salisbury..he is your man. Mrs Campbell has saved the Salisbury tax payer 100's of thousands of dollars. Please take an opportunity to review her accomplishments and take to heart her desire for fiscal responsibility. The record stands for itself.

  9. I don't know where Day went school , but he has the art of BS , must have been a major.

  10. Day read from his script really well! Did you all see that? I mean, he had MOST of it memorized, but he still had a script written by others.
Debbie, on the other hand had an easy time speaking from her heart and her experience.

Ireton has no accomplishments in 4 years, just ideas for the future 4? I think Joe came off as a can and will do candidate.

  11. I can't see that tearing down a building is an accomplishment!
The wastewater issue was in progress and we lost tons of money.
He tore down these buildings and nothing to replace them with?

If you think about it most cities with a bypass have failed , D.C. all low housing , Baltimore most low housing , on and on and on.

  12. Day read from a script? You mean he had the questions in advance?

  13. I am with Joe and Debbie all the way...the only two real professional ones the entire debate. Have to admit Jake Day is a smooth talker, almost comical and full of BS.
Looked like quite a few "slumlords" in attendance and they naturally are backing Day and Ireton. It was worth my time to get out there last night and listen to empty suiter Ireton go over the list of all his great accomplishments (NOT) at the end of the debate...what a joke! Go Joe and Debbie!

  14. I want to know which one will stop ECI from dropping it's released criminals in the Church Street area, at the Christian Shelter? Our crime rate is high enough, we don't need more criminals. Is this how the population is increasing? Let ECI send the criminals back to their home of record.

  15. I was impressed with all but Ireton. Since I do not vote in D1 I will not allude to them.

12:12 Wake up, Who are the single family home buyers? There are none. Single family homes will sell in the county because the majority will not want to be taxed by county AND city. Sellers of the city homes who wish to leave are not going to wait around for “a family” to purchase their place. They will sell to the one with the money.

College town have rental homes because that is where the need is. Since landlords who do not live in the city limits are not allowed to have input at Council meetings, and are not allowed to vote, of course they will look for someone to speak for them. No one seems to get the point that it is renters who vote candidates into office. Renters do not care so voter turn out is poor.

The only accomplishments of the Council and Mayor is quarrelling amongst themselves. I like and respect Mrs. Campbell but I believe Salisbury can only go forward with new ideas and elected officials who will carry them out. I will be voting Day and Albero.

  16. I got another post card from the National Association of Slum Lords for Jake Day in the mail yesterday afternoon. Jake Day is also endorsed by the Slum Lord group the Coastal Association of Realtors out of Ocean City. No one in town supports Jake Day.

  17. The only quarreling that goes on between mayor and council is generated by Ireton for press coverage. Replacing the mayor will solve that problem. As for new ideas, only a fiscally responsible council can make them happen without breaking our backs with more taxes on top of the massive water and sewer increases we'll be getting because of the brainless council of ten years ago, the one put in place by out of town landlords.

I don't see Day as a part of that solution, only as a pawn for those poor, poor landlords who don't think that the city is good enough for them to actually live in it themselves.

I will vote for Albero and Campbell. A change in the mayor's office with support of a rock steady council majority that looks after my tax money.

  18. And next election we can rid ourselves of that screaming ninny, Mitchell.

  19. To those big Jake Day supporters out there do you think he will be able to fulfill his job as a city council member if elected? If you remember reading the Daily Times on Sunday when he commented about his numerous speeding tickets he blamed it on having to drive 65 miles a week to work each day. If that is the case do you think he will be able to take off every single day there is a work session? Do you think his employer will allow him that much time off. Think about it, that is 130 miles a day which means he is on the road over 2 1/2 hours every day. There are a lot of work sessions and budget work sessions coming up very soon. I doubt seriously he will be able to participate in the work sessions. Work, Court, National Guard duties? How can he make that commitment. It is painfully obvious that Jim Ireton picked Jake Day to be his Rubber Stamper at the night meetings if he can make it. Jake Day is a bad choice. You talk about grid lock, it will always be a 2 to 2 vote because Jake day will rarely be at the meetings. Don't be stupid on this one.

  20. Day is all shine and no apple. He talks a good line but he has no substance that I can see.

Yes and so did Shanie Shields. Jim new the questions in advance as well and he is well rehearsed.

  22. Jake Day keeps rambling on about the "2500" voters who signed the petition about the City Attorney. Debbie Campbell slammed Jake Day back in his place when she asked the City Clerk if those signatures were ever confirmed. The City Clerk's response was "No." Jake Day went on to claim that it was funny that he spoke to every single one of them. Jake Day again proved to be a liar. If I remember correctly there were hundreds of fake names signed to the petition so how can Jake Day talk to cartoon characters!

  23. If some candidates had questions or prepared answers in advance or both, there should be a charge of election tampering directed at those responsible. It speaks volumes about what backers think of their candidates if they have to cheat to make those candidates look adequate.
