Let's Stop The Rumors Right Here And Now

There is a horrible rumor going around that when I'm elected Mayor I'll be closing the Salisbury Zoo.

I can only guess who might be spreading such a LIE. Nevertheless, let me make myself perfectly clear. I have absolutely NO intent to close the Salisbury Zoo.

As many of you know, my Wife worked at the Salisbury Zoo for 18 years and let me assure you, if I had even mentioned any such intent, she would have killed me.

Animals are one of the biggest things in our lives in the Albero Household. I personally have the greatest RESPECT for those people working at the Zoo. I understand what it must be like to be outside in 20 degree weather power washing a Bear pool. I respect Keepers who work day in and day out in 90 degree temperatures.

The Salisbury Zoo is an absolute GEM to Salisbury, Maryland. I may disagree with some choices they have made at the Zoo but I have never stated I would close the Zoo or harm them in any way, shape or form. My former disagreements were with the management and they are now gone.

So if ANYONE from the Zoo or anywhere else tells you Joe Albero is planning on closing the Zoo, tell them they are full of it and you now have it in writing.

  2. At least charge $1 per person i am feed up watching huge family's walk by the bear and not even contribute. Its not free to feed/maintain. but then again when you have nothing but a bunch of free loaders in this town what do you expect.

  3. It's not true because you would have no say about weather the zoo is open or not.

  4. Stupidity may reign supreme in this town sometimes but it will stop
    VOTE for the right people

The Zoo unlike others that are a display of animals is and has been an education center and I would change it for the world.

To be fair I would not be offended by paying some small fee because it is worthy of support

  5. Cannot do anything without the council approval. Salisbury does not even need a mayor

  6. Nothing is free and I would support your idea Joe, charging a small fee. There are a lot of people that frequent the zoo that live outside the city limits and they should be contributing to the zoo too.

The people that would object to the fee, are probably the same people that have a grudge up their backsides about the skatepark. Nothing is free, a skatepark even built with grants would require not only maintainence, but also pay
someone to be there to supervise.

If someone isn't there to manage it, what is to keep older people from denying the young people the time to skate as well. Some surf spots are like that, if you aren't a regular or a local they team up to deny others time.

There would also be the need to have a supervisor there in the event that someone were to be skating alone and took a bad crash, who would call for emergency assistance?

Nothing is free, and it is about time that Salisbury's taxpayers aren't the only source of revenue for these so-called feebees!

Yes, the zoo is great, however lets get more support to make it even better.

  8. They should/could definitely have an entrance fee, and be fine. $2 per person or $5 per "family of 3 or more.

Or maybe get involved in one of those packages? Like the Norfolk Zoo does. You can use it at various Science centers all around the region, as well.

  9. More deception and lies from Cookie and his little pansy twerps that are supporting the sissy mayor.

  10. Jim Ireton, through self admission, has an Anti-Albero hate blog and he is constantly bashing Joe with lies and deception. Does anyone have access to Delaware's court system so we can get the goods on Jim Ireton when he was arrested on that Delaware beach for frolicking with another man late at night. He was also charged with eluding a police officer as he ran like a ferry down the beach. This happened just before he was elected Mayor in Salisbury.

Does anyone have documentation of the numerous times Jim Ireton was written up and reprimanded in the school system? This guy is trouble and the citizens and the voters need to no who they are voting for.

  15. Ireton has been smearing Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen for 2 straight years. I heard he was an immature rear end at the Camden forum. His lackeys Laura Mitchell and Shanie Shields disrupt meetings.

If people want to know why they are embarrassed to claim they live here, that is where they should be looking, instead of trying to smear the three intelligent ones.

  18. I don't remember anything on Sbynews about closing the Zoo but I do remember you saying you would privatize and sell the Zoo for a dollar. I thought it a great idea at the time and still do. Most of government holdings in Salisbury, and across our nation for that matter, should be privately owned. Get those places back on the tax rolls instead of costing taxpayers.

  19. To those big Jake Day supporters out there do you think he will be able to fulfill his job as a city council member if elected? If you remember reading the Daily Times on Sunday when he commented about his numerous speeding tickets he blamed it on having to drive 65 miles a week to work each day. If that is the case do you think he will be able to take off every single day there is a work session? Do you think his employer will allow him that much time off. Think about it, that is 130 miles a day which means he is on the road over 2 1/2 hours every day. There are a lot of work sessions and budget work sessions coming up very soon. I doubt seriously he will be able to participate in the work sessions. Work, Court, National Guard duties? How can he make that commitment. It is painfully obvious that Jim Ireton picked Jake Day to be his Rubber Stamper at the night meetings if he can make it. Jake Day is a bad choice. You talk about grid lock, it will always be a 2 to 2 vote because Jake day will rarely be at the meetings. Don't be stupid on this one.

  20. Jake Day keeps rambling on about the "2500" voters who signed the petition about the City Attorney. Debbie Campbell slammed Jake Day back in his place when she asked the City Clerk if those signatures were ever confirmed. The City Clerk's response was "No." Jake Day went on to claim that it was funny that he spoke to every single one of them. Jake Day again proved to be a liar. If I remember correctly there were hundreds of fake names signed to the petition so how can Jake Day talk to cartoon characters!

  23. This comment was posted by John Robinson on Jake Day's Facebook page and look who was the first person to like it. None other than Jake Day himself. This is the same person that claims he can get along with all the council members on the city council for a better Salisbury? Jake Day allowed this nasty lie to be posted on his website and then liked it immediately and has kept it posted for 10 days now! This is not good for a candidate to promote gossip and mean spirited information on his web page. Jake Day, Jim Ireton and John Robinson are evil people and to dangerous for Salisbury. Everyone should know about this lie Jake Day is endorsing and vote for Debbie Campbell.

John D Robinson: And why in the same breath dint they bring up the Cambell VIDEO SEX TAPE SCANDAL? Oh wait shhh that never happened. Politics is so dirty - stay above the crap Jake your a hell of a guy!

  24. "David Downes: Jake Day has training, vision and energy to serve Salisbury well"

Letter to the Editor in the Daily Rag.

    Who is David Downes?

    David Downes
    Chief Executive Officer
    Downes Associates, Inc
    2129 Northwood Drive
    Salisbury, MD 21801-7858

Downes Associates Inc in Salisbury, MD is a private company categorized under Engineering Consultants.

Now why would anyone want to vote for a candidate who is bought buy realtors, architects and engineers who are in the business to make a profit off the tax payers of Salisbury. This has got to be one of the most blatantly corrupt candidates and election in Salisbury's history.
