A Sykesville man is accused of not paying for about $30,000 of goods from an Eldersburg Walmart, according to charging documents.
Franklin Alexander Rheubottom, 71, of the 800 block of Gibbons Road, was arrested Tuesday and charged with theft scheme $10,000 to under $100,000 and conspiracy to commit theft of $10,000 to under $100,000, according to charging documents. He was released Tuesday from the Carroll County Detention Center on a $2,500 bond, electronic court records show.
A Walmart employee, Teresa Diane Long, 55, stated that over a span of three or four years, Rheubottom would come to her cash register, and she wouldn't scan all of the items, charging documents state. The store employee stated that he allegedly had threatened to hurt her family if she did not comply, according to charging documents.
