This is the receipt showing the price that we paid. It is the same as the price
on the sign. The advertising sign which I did not get a picture of states all
gas all day long five cents off does not specify cash or credit. The Royal Farms
directly across the street had the same exact gas prices. The Shell station
south of Fruitland on 13 had gas for 3.27.
I asked the guy behind the counter about the discount. He told me that the price
was already corrected on the sign. But that is the discounted price. I explained
to him that I was going to post this on your website. And he did not seem to
care. He went so far as to share a chuckle with the patron in front of him.
Shell inflates their price because of the fuel perks program.
ReplyDeleteSo don't go there any more. The Price on the PUMP should have given you a clue.
ReplyDeleteThe Shell on North Salisbury Blvd has gas for 3.24 according to gas buddy. I never go to the one on Snow Hill road when I do get gas from Shell. I love the gas points from giant. We paid 2.83 last week when we got gas.
ReplyDeleteI buy all my gas at the Shell in Eden. They have the 5 cent off as well. I drive by there daily so I know what the prices are all week. They do go down on Thursday. I used to think it was a scam too but I have kept an eye on it for years. Like 11:17 said. Don't like it...don't go there.
ReplyDeleteIf it seems too good to be true, it is!....
ReplyDeleteBarnum was right.
ReplyDeleteThose guys at the Snow Hill Rd. Shell are commical but they are friendly and usually helpful. Shell's are independently owned.. they have to make money somehow
ReplyDeleteThe first time we tried our Giant gas card was at the Shell on Snow hill Rd. & we had trouble with the card so my husband went inside & the guy was so rude we will never go back there. We now go to the one in Eden.
ReplyDeleteI go to shell on snow hill rd and never have a problem yet.
ReplyDeleteBlantant attempt to deceive the public which in not ever a good business decision. With a Royal Farms across the street from this Shell, they better not attempt to deceive because Royal Farms will eat them alive.
ReplyDeleteLook for the new promotion rolling out the 1st week of Feb.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed the price goes up first of the week and then by Thurday they (Shell Stations) are back down to regular price. For instance the Shell in Eden was 3.29 and then on Tuesday night I checked and it was 3.34 so when Thursday comes they just go down 5 cents and make you think they are doing something special. Also the man at the north salisbury Shell that works at night is nasty. I will never go there again.
ReplyDeleteIf you use Giant rewards, you do not get the 5 cents off.
ReplyDeleteThe guy behind the counter laughed did he? Well, because of this post I will never go to Shell anymore.
ReplyDeleteBy law, whatever price you are pumping is what has to be on the sign. Perhaps (more than likely) the price was discounted, however Royal Farms adjusted to match. Im not standing up for anyone here, but you cant be too quick to judge. Most store owners and/or managers drive around town to compare fuel prices to others and adjust to accommodate.
ReplyDeleteI use the Shell on Rt.13, North Salisbury exclusively now. Ethal free fuel. My car has been doing far better in performance and millage since the switch over. It cost more, but fewer refuelings for amount spent.
ReplyDeleteIt appears to me the complainant wanted him to take 5 cents off what he thought the price should be - not the posted or pump price. I've a feeling the conversation with the owner may have been a little more animated than the poster is sharing. Apparently the other customer saw some humor in it.
ReplyDeleteI usually go to the Snow Hill Shell in the AM and never had a problem.
As for the N. Salisbury Shell - I only stop when I see the owner's car. Some of the help there do indeed lack people skills.
I never go there except to use my Giant points and wouldn't if Giant ever stops the program.
ReplyDeleteThe Shell on Snow Hill Rd is horrible...my Giant card/gas rewards never work there and no one (even the owner) is any help and indeed is rude and dismissive. I won't buy gas there anymore because of it and go to Royal Farms across the street...
ReplyDeleteI guess I don't understand the problem. The advertising sign said .05 off. The sign shows the same amount that you paid. Is there any indication that their normal price for that day, at that station would not have been $3.34? I understand other Shell stations have different prices, but so do all gas stations. Depending on location, all of the Gordy's Exxon stations have different prices (by the mall is usually the most expensive and on Isabella is usually the least expensive).
ReplyDeleteAnd I believe 12:02 is correct. You can't use your Giant discount during the same purchase.
As soon as Shell on Snow Hill Rd. puts their nickle down, so does Royal Farms & usually Chicken Man across the other side of the street. All 3 stations are usually the same price (Chicken Man maybe 1 or 2 cents higher. I've never had a problem with that Shell station. They've always been nice to me.
ReplyDeleteBoy do I miss Buddys Shell up on Rt 13....
ReplyDeletePost pics of yesterdays price and tomorrows price to see if there really is a problem.
ReplyDeleteBut really, gas is pretty much gas no matter where you go. It all comes out of the same transfer station. The name brand stuff will get a dose of secret stuff before it leaves the transfer station to make it somewhat unique. That stuff is typically a slightly different blend of detergents.
Buy the cheapest properly stored gas that is convenient along your travels, regardless of gimmicks. Keep your car tuned up and it really shouldn't matter where you go.
Yes...you can use your Giant discount AND get the $0.05 off. I just did. I must use premium. Today's price was posted at $3.70, the Giant rewards were $0.30 and I paid $3.40.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that with the giant rewards you get 35 gal of gas with the discount. They dont tell you that.
ReplyDelete...and to add insult to injury for the obviously unobservant poster...
ReplyDeleteThe last four digits of David C. Le0ne's M/C is 1841!!!
You need to buy gas from true Americans, if you know what I mean !!
ReplyDelete4:19, no, we don't know what you mean. Please spell it out.
ReplyDeleteThe posted sign is the discounted price...what's so hard to understand... Other stations lower theirs too
ReplyDelete4:19, no, we don't know what you mean. Please spell it out.

He means people who were born here, works here, pays taxes here, is proud to be an american, obeys the law, does not rob rape or murder anyone (although some 'real' americans do that too) and someone who supports the constitution.
Hope that helped.
3:28,D"OH!
ReplyDeleteSame thing happened to me. When I questioned them about it they said the reduction was in the price on the sign. The price was the same the day before & the day after. This & the fact they made fun of me in THEIR tongue is why I will NEVER go there again...or any other shell station, for that matter.
