State Reports Fewer Fatal Fires

The number of people killed in fires in Maryland for 2012 reached a record low.

The state fire marshal's office says that 52 people died in fires for 2012 compared to 67 deaths the year before.

Fire officials believe one of the reasons for the decrease was legislation that requires only cigarettes that are fire safety compliant be sold in Maryland.
