Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has reportedly told President Barack Obama that he would back the president overriding congressional authority and unilaterally raising the debt ceiling.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was more forceful: “I’ve made my view very clear on that subject: I would do it in a second. But I’m not the president of the United States.”
Such a move would spark a constitutional crisis by running roughshod over the 14thAmendment, which states that “the validity of the public debt…shall not be questioned.”

ReplyDeleteYou have been warned this was coming...heil Obama!
ReplyDeleteAs i have stated here many times. we are on the same historical path as Nazi Germany....
ReplyDeleteThe Bill of Rights is NON- NEGOTIABLE. Here we go, and I may not be ready, but a lot of us are, and we are all willing. Stock up on ammo for your favorite most portable weapon, and make a plan on how to communicate with each other without cellphones or internet. This is real.
ReplyDeletemy oh my...nothing like swearing to uphold the Constitution. NOT!
ReplyDeleteSo far only words but I for one would be onboard with impeachment proceedings if he were to try this.
6:33p...I couldn't say it better myself. People better
ReplyDeletewake up before it is too late.
Uhh.... Anyone here aware that executive orders can be easily overturned? Of course not, you are too busy polishing ammo and dreaming up conspiracy theories.
ReplyDelete8:12....act like this is the first time a "Constitutional professor" and president SWORN to "uphold and defend" the Constitution, has done an end-around that document. "Czars" comes to mind. So does obamacare, which is a huge shot across the bow of all facets of the Constitution. He doesn't think he's PRESIDENT, he thinks he's King. To even CONSIDER raising the debt ceiling by mere Executive Order shows his open contempt of Congress and, by extension, "we, the people".
ReplyDeleteSometimes different tactics need to be imagined other than the standard ones to correct a situation.
ReplyDeleteHitler said something similiar to that....
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what the reference to "Czars" is about. But is merely a title referencing the head of a dept. If you are referring to President Obama using the term Czar, fine, but it has been in use in the U.S. for almost a hundred years. President Hoover was the first President to use it. As far as PPACA (Obamacare) that was passed by Congress in 2009. The House vote was 416 - 0 with 16 abstaining. The Senate vote was 60 - 39 with 1 abstaining. No executive order there. My point was and IS, if there is an executive order signed, it can be overturned. Means to do just that are provided for in the Constitution. The SAME document that some people here are screaming has been violated. My apologies if I came across as a Constitutional Professor. That was not my intention. But I did graduate high school.
